Chapter 100 - Never do that again

Seraphina's POV

The doctor set his bag down on the bedside table and began pulling out various medical tools—a stethoscope, a blood pressure cuff, a penlight.

"I'm just going to run through some basic checks, alright? Let me know if anything hurts."

I nodded.

He started with the basics—checking my pulse, my blood pressure, shining the light in my eyes to check my pupils. Then he carefully examined my shoulder, gently removing the bandage to look at the wound underneath.

I tried not to look, but I caught a glimpse of the angry red mark where the bullet had entered. It looked better than I expected, though it was already starting to heal.

"Can you move your arm for me?" Dr. Mark asked gently.

I tried, wincing as pain shot through my shoulder. I managed to lift it slightly, but couldn't go very far.

"That's good," he encouraged. "Don't push it too hard. You're healing well, but you still need time."
