Lyra's laughter snapped Blaise out of his trance. He blinked and turned to her, watching as she laughed like she had just realized something big.
Blaise frowned. He was confused. His eyes narrowed as he turned to look at her. She wasn't laughing because something was funny, her laughter was broken, sharp, and bitter, the kind that came from pain and not amusement.
Lyra wiped a tear from the corner of her eye, her lips tugged into a broken smile.
"I get it now, Mr. Astor"
Blaise stiffened. His chest tightened.
Mr. Astor?
His eyes widened slightly at the formality and the distance in her tone.
Not Blaise, not baby, not love. Just Mr. Astor.
It made his stomach twist.
Lyra's smile faded into a very bitter smile.
"I'm so sorry for ruining your happy marriage" she said, her voice trembling between hurt and sarcasm. "I'll have to leave now"
