Chapter 9 - HP: Sacred Gear Chat Group - Chapter 43

After inserting his memory card inside the Joystation and using his Ren on it, Harry felt himself getting pulled through space-time. Possessing Dimension Lost, a Sacred Gear that manipulates space and with his Nen belonging to the same category, Harry had become sensitive to space manipulation.

In fact, he could have interrupted the teleportation at any time.

But he let himself get pulled away, and in the next moment he arrived in an octagonally shaped room. It had only a single exit.

What truly caught Harry's eyes were the patterns covering the walls. It was divine script or Nen inscription, as he was still uncertain whether the two of them were the same thing.

Right at this moment, Harry really wished he could just steal the whole building, pulling it into his inventory with his purple mist. So he could study it all he wanted. Unfortunately that was far too drastic at this point; he wasn't even sure it would work since he had never tried to store something so big.

Most importantly, the building wasn't empty. He knew that one of the Game Masters was behind that door.

And it's probably worth it, pissing off Ging by breaking the game he had worked so hard to create. Ging was one of these intelligent planning characters that are always scary to face even if you should be stronger.

For now he had to live with the fact that he could only record and study the script in here, by storing it inside his database ability, so he could later use it for his analysis.

He didn't rush, recording every last detail before he continued through the door, into a corridor also covered in inscriptions, recording everything. This construction was probably one of the factors, making a game on such a scale with so many abilities and a global teleportation function possible. It amplifies the Nen of the users.

There are probably some harsh conditions involved too.

Wasn't one of the Game Masters a former prisoner? He probably just changed his prison for this island and has to spend the rest of his life on it as a condition for this game.

But Harry wouldn't complain. After all, it would give him so many abilities to analyze. After that he would definitely be considered an expert in each category, probably not a master. For that, the knowledge he would gain was far too general.

Passing through the corridor, he arrived in the main room, coming face to face with one of the game masters of this game.

It was a slim young woman with long silver hair and azure eyes wearing a helmet with eye motifs.

Harry knew she also had a twin; while she is responsible for welcoming new players, her twin handles players that leave the game. Her name is Eta.

She greeted him, "Welcome to Greed Island! May I have your name?"

Thinking for a moment, he decided, "It's just Harry."

"I will now explain the game. Do you want to hear it?"

Harry nodded. And she handed him a ring.

"Okay, take this; there are two spells you can use with this ring. 'Book' and 'Gain.'" Eta began to explain as Harry put the ring on, "Hold the hand with the ring in front of you and say 'book.'."

As Harry did so, a book appeared in front of him. It was quite the thick tome, but each page was thicker than a normal paper page.

"As you collect items in the game, you can convert each item into a card. Those cards can be stored inside this binder. The goal of the game is to fill out the binder. Please open the first page."

Opening it, Harry saw on the right side a single slot with the number 000, and on the left page, 9 slots ranging from 001 to 009.

"Right now it's empty. But as you can see, each slot is numbered. These are the specified slots, which will only accept cards with the corresponding number. Please keep flipping the pages."

The specified slots ended at Slot 099, and the slots lost their numbering further on.

"These slots are your free slots; they can hold any card with any number. There are 100 specific slots, and you also got 45 free slots. By filling out all of the 100 specific slots, you will be able to clear the game!" She announces brightly.

"I assume these cards are obtained with the spell 'Gain'?" Harry asked, already knowing the answer.

"Wrong. Once you obtain the item, it will automatically turn into a card. By using 'Gain' on a card, it returns to its item form."

"I see." Harry said awkwardly, as he had remembered it wrong, "So if I use 'Gain' on a card, it won't turn back into a card?"

"That's right. So be careful! There are two more cases when an item won't turn into a card anymore. Should a card have reached its conversion limit, it won't turn into a card. So if other players already have collected a card, towards its limit, it won't become a card. Even if you use a spell on it."

"Ah, that's how you make the game competitive." Harry nodded. "What's the second case?"

"Each card has to be stored inside the binder. If you should fail to do so, it will turn back into its item form after 1 minute. In that case, you will have to collect the item again since the current one won't turn into a card again. Please be careful on this point."

Nodding, Harry was ready to start.

"Lastly, if a player should die, his binder will be destroyed and all his cards with it, freeing up their limit." She warned him.

Harry had a casual grin on him, 'So pretty much it was Battera who turned this game into a bloody hell by offering 50 billion Jenny for completing it and bringing him the items he wants. Making his own goal harder, since humans are greedy by nature. If not for him, this game would be far more peaceful. How ironic.'

"You may now begin the game! These were only the basic rules; you will find out more as you play. I wish you luck. Please use these stairs!" Eta said as a hatch opened up, revealing stairs leading downwards.

"Thank you." Harry said as he walked down the tower.

At the bottom of it, he arrived at a grassy plain stretching wide out into the distance.

He could feel that he was getting watched from multiple directions, but most of them were coming from two particulars.

Instead of getting bothered by it he stretched his Hand out, and summoned a bit of purple Mist which formed into a small purple Portal from which he could see the Phantom Troupe hideout and the Joystation sitting on a bit of debris.

Shizuku was nowhere to be seen, so she probably had already entered the game and was getting her introduction.

Having confirmed that he could leave anytime, he closed his portal again, not stepping through it. He knew the Game Masters had a way to track the players, and if one disappeared from the island, it would be game-breaking.

After a few minutes, Shizuku came down the stairs.

"So this is the game world?" She asked as she looked at the two directions people were monitoring them from.

"Well, it's in the real world, so there shouldn't be anything different. But these players are quite nosy." He sighed.

"So what's the plan? What do you need me for?" She questioned him again, unsure why she was here.

"For one, I need a training partner. We need to gather some cards first. So how about we head towards one of these Player Hotspots? Maybe we will get a greeting?" He smirked; the good thing was that he was here with Shizuku, and they looked like two teenagers.

This would bait some cocky guys towards them.

"Remember the cards disappear if you kill a player. They will have to summon their Binder first if we want to get their Cards." She warned him.

"Oh, don't worry. I have a way to take care of that. And I feel since there are also Spellcards in this game, summoning one's Binder should be a standard reaction for normal players in this game. After all, the spells have the form of cards too." He told her as they kept walking towards the place with most of the players.

"Do you think there are some powerful attack spells?" She wondered.

"No idea. I feel like not, since this game is focused on getting cards instead of direct combat."

It didn't take long, and the two of them heard a piercing sound traveling through the sky, followed by a jet of light flying towards them.

"Well, a transport spell is part of it."

As that light impacted the ground, a cocky-looking figure stood in front of them with his book already out; he looked around as if he didn't know where he was.

Before he could even say anything, Harry had already pointed his finger at him and said, "Imperio."

"Man, what an idiot. Don't let your guard down." Harry sighed as he approached the man who was now kneeling on the ground, as Harry had mentally ordered him to not resist.

"Is that your magic? That was powerful and quick. What does it do? Make him kneel?" Shizuku wondered as she followed him.

"Mind Control. It wouldn't do much against you besides distracting you for a few seconds; your will is too strong." Harry answered as he ordered the Guy on the Floor to hand over all his cards while he put them inside his binder.

"Still, that is quite useful, especially for thieves." She said as Harry admitted she had a point. A ton of the magic from the Wizarding World is useful for cover operation. Maybe that was because of how Wizards lived in hiding for Centuries now.
