Chapter 12 - Unfortunately, You Killed My Mother

Morning in the Mansion. On the door leading to the science lab is a note from. "Gone to the airbase, bring the crate marked X."

Charles opened the door to see that the place was a mess, and Erik and the others walked into it to see the mess as well. Everything seemed to have been destroyed.

"What the hell happened here?" Erik asked

Charles continued forward to the crate with the X on it. When Charles opened it, everyone was eager to see what was inside. "Hank has been busy." Charles exclaimed, seeing the contents of the crate.

"Do we really have to wear these?" Alex asked, looking disgusted with the fashion sense. Darwin smiled as he said, "I wonder if Hank made one for Noah?" Besides Charles and Erik, who brought Noah here, Darwin seemed to care for him the most, but it was more than just that; Darwin felt a great deal of debt for Noah for saving his life.

"I'm sure Hanks thought about Noah." Raven said as she put a hand on Darwin's shoulder.

"We're going to get him back." Erik replied with a cool and collective manner. Charles nodded in agreement before answering Alex's question. "As none of us mutated to endure extreme g-force or being riddled by bullets, I suggest we suit up."

At the airbase

They all stared up at the jet with their new fitted outfits, clearly impressed by their new ride. "Where is Hank?" Raven asked in amazement in her original form.

"I'm here." Hank replied from the large entrance of the airbase hangar. As he walked closer, they noticed a large blue-furred man."

"Hank?" Charles questioned, but the question didn't come from asking if the blue creature in front of them was Hank. Charles already knew it was Hank from the familiar scientific mind he heard from the blue Beast. Instead, the question was, what happened to you, Hank?

"It didn't attack the cells. It enhanced them. It didn't work." Hank replied with a tone of sadness.

"Yes, it did, Hank. Don't you see? This is who you were meant to be. This is you. No more hiding." Raven said with sympathy as she touched his face.

"You never looked better, man." Erik said, patting his shoulder. While I reacted quickly, grabbing Erik's throat.

"Hank!" Charles said in a warning.

"Don't mock me!" Hank said in a growl.

"Hank, put him down immediately, please. Hank! Hank!" Charles said with panic, a filled voice.

Hank let Erik go as he crashed to the ground.

"I wasn't." Erik breathed out.

"Even I have to admit you look pretty badass. I think I got a new name for you. Beast." Alex said.

Hank growled in acceptance.

"You're sure you can fly this thing?" Sean asked, looking up at the jet.

"Of course I can. I designed it." Hank replied.

In Cuba's oceans, battleships are facing each other, slowly coming closer and closer as they prepare to attack.

In one battleship.

General: "Status of the cargo ship?"

Lieutenant Commander: "Bearing 1-8-0 at 12 knots. Three minutes to the embargo line, sir. God help them if they cross it."

General: "God help us all. Sound general quarters."

Lieutenant Commander: "General quarters, general quarters! All hands, man, battle stations! Set condition Zebra!"

In mic: "General quarters, battle stations."

In the other battleship

In the Russian language.

"Captain, we already have our orders. Why so eager for new ones?"

"I lived through one war, comrade. I'd prefer not to start another…. Battle stations! NOW!" the captain yelled.

"Gun Boss, target cargo ship bearing 1-8-0. Fleet reports all weapons ready." A man said as they aimed their rockets from the ship.

Communication officer: From the Kremlin, sir. New orders. As of 1025 hours, the cargo vessel Aral Sea is hereby ordered to reverse course and return to port in Odessa. Aral Sea, come in. They are not responding. She's not turning around. Aral Sea, you are ordered to turn around. Do not cross the line."

The Russians witnessed as one of their own ships was crossing the line, and were trying to prevent it by communicating with them.

On the American battleship

As the other battleship moved closer to the line, one of the men watching said

"Target ready to be fired upon, sir." The soldier asked his superior, the General

"Stand by to fire." The General said.

"Standing by, sir." The soldier replied to the following orders.

At that moment, a flying jet flew in.

"Looks pretty messy out there." Hank said flying the jet.

Charles then used his mutant ability to see what was happening to the Russian ship that was not responding and was about to start a war by crossing the line.

Charles, in the captain's mind, could tell that he was on the ground and had nearly passed out. Charles heard "Aral Sea, you are ordered to turn around before he saw the red mutant Azazel turn around and stomp on the captain. Making Charles get out of his mind.

"Aral Sea, you are ordered to turn around. The crew of the Aral Sea are all dead. Shaw's been there." Charles said.

"He's still here, somewhere." Erik replied.

"He set the ship on course for the embargo line." Charles confirmed.

"If that ship crosses the line, our boys are going to blow it up. And the war begins." Moria warned.

"Unless they're not on board." Charles guessed.

Main Russian ship

"USS Independence, this is Alexander Nevsky. We have lost control of our cargo ship. She has been instructed to stop. Do not fire! Repeat, do not fire!"

American Ship

"They have signaled the cargo ship to turn around, sir."

General: "It's a ruse. Pay no attention! Stand by to fire."

"Standing by to fire, sir." The man replied.

General: "On my count. Five, four..."

Jet

Charles focused once again, controlling the mind of one of the Russian men on their ship to press a red button.

At that moment, a large rocket was launched, almost hitting the jet, but Hank, driving the jet, dodged out of its way.

"Hold on!" Charles yelled at everyone as they felt the jet turn on its side.

The missile went to the Russian ship that had no one but Azazel on board. Azazel, sensing the missile, teleported out of the ship. As the rocket hit the ship, it blew up, causing a quake in the water that was felt by a submarine not far away from it.

"What was that?" Angel asked on the submarine beside Riptide.

Azazel then teleported inside.

"The Russians. They have fired on their own ship." He informed Shaw, who was driving the submarine.

Noah, in the back, had a slight smile hearing the news.

On the Jet.

"A little warning next time, Professor." Hank asked, looking back at Charles

"Sorry about that. You all, right?" Charles asked everyone.

Everyone replied with a head nod or a small yeah.

On the Russian ship

The man whom Charles controlled had just regained his mind and was confused about what was going on.

"Congratulations, comrade. You just averted nuclear war!" The captain said

"What?" The man was confused.

"Take him to the brig." The captain ordered.

"What? What just happened?" The man asked as he was escorted out.

In the submarine.

"They say the comrade lost his mind. The Americans are applauding." Azazel replied with a headset on his head.

"They're here. That telepath is powerful. We're moving to a backup plan." Shaw said as he put on the helmet.

Noah could not hide the amusement on his face, and Shaw, that glance back said, "You will obey whatever I tell you, or I will not save your family from this war."

Noah's smile disappeared as he nodded.

On Jet

"That was inspired, Charles." Moira replied.

"Thank you very much, but I still can't locate Shaw?" Charles replied.

"He's down there. We need to find him now." Erik warned.

"Hank?" Charles asked.

"Is there anything unusual on the radar or scanners?" Hank asked.

"No, nothing." Moira replied.

"Well then, he must be under water. And obviously, we don't have Sonar." Hank said.

"Yes, we do." Sean replied.

"Yes, we do." Charles agrees with the realization as he unbuckled from his seat.

Erik followed suit after them.

Submarine

"They were ready for war. We just need to strike another match to light the fuse. And we still have the most powerful weapon of all. ME. Turn the nuclear reactor to 100% output and make sure I'm not disturbed." Shaw with his eyes, looking directly at Noah. Shaw then left.

Jet

"Hank, level the bloody plane." Charles replied.

"Beast, open the Bombay doors." Sean yelled.

The doors to the bottom of the jet opened up, revealing the ocean.

"Remember, this is a muscle. You control it. We will see you soon. On my mark 3,2,1 GO!"

Sean jumped from the jet using powerful sonic waves to propel himself into the air. Sean then dived

into the water, sending a huge sonic wave into the ocean.

From the Jet, Charles, seeing everything that Sean is doing, said, "Banshee has got a location on

Shaw. You ready for this?"

Erik nodded as he replied, "Let's find out."

Submarine

Shaw entered a small room with large mirrors, and in the center, a device that sent energy into him.

The Jet flew low to the ground, getting ready to land on the island. Erik, on one tire, used his mutant abilities trying to locate the submarine. Once he located it, he tried focusing on it, trying to pull it.

Charles, in his mind, reminded Erik, "Remember, the point between rage and serenity."

Then the Submarine came out of the water, flying with the Jet as they both went toward land. Riptide came out from the top of the submarine. Making a tornado.

"Erik, take my hand!" Charles yelled in concern.

Erik held tight onto the jet as the tornado got a hold of it, making Erik lose control of the submarine that fell onto the island. Erik then took Charles' hand, quickly shutting the doors as the jet crashed onto the island.

"Moira, Moira, are you all right?" Charles asked about her.

"Yeah, I'm okay." Moira replied.

"I read the teleporter's mind, Shaw's drawing all of the power out of his sub. He's turning himself into some kind of nuclear bomb." Charles said.

"We've got no time, the Geiger counter's going out of control." Moira said.

"All right, Moira, this is what we're going to do. Get on the radio and tell them to clear both fleets out immediately. I'm going in Beast, Havok, Darwin, back him up. Erik, I can guide you through once you're in. But I need you to shut down whatever it is that's blocking me. Then we just hope to god it's not too late for me to stop him."

"Got it." Erik responded.

Raven got up to go after.

"Raven, stop!" Charles yelled.

"I'm going to help him." Raven replied.

"We don't have time for this. Anything comes in that entrance, you're taking care of it, yes?" Charles said.

"Fine." Raven replied not happily.

Beast, Havok, Darwin, and Erik came out of the broken jet.

In front of the sub, Angel, Azazel, Riptide, and Chronos got ready.

Alex attacked first, firing his red beam at the Riptide, knocking him into the sub. Azazel teleported behind Havok, about to stab him, but Darwin and Beast stopped him. Alex turned around, and when he did. Azazel grabbed him by his tail and grabbed Beast, teleporting them into the air.

Beast held on to the teleported and Alex as he responded. "If we go, you go." They then teleported onto one of the ships. On that ship, they fought with Angel joying the fight and Havok flying to intercept her.

Noah watched as Angel flew somewhere into the air, and then Azazel teleported away. Noah also watched as Riptide got back up and started making small tornadoes in his hand. Erik ran forward, breaking open the sub and sending some of that metal at Riptide.

Erik ran into the Submarine, ignoring Noah at the moment. Darwin came behind, looked at Noah, and asked, "Are you with us or against?"

Noah shrugged his shoulders. "Neither. He's threatening me with my family. I will watch this all play out without doing anything. Darwin nodded, standing beside Noah.

"Erik, make for the middle of the vessel. That's the point my mind can't penetrate. We have to assume that that's where Shaw is." Charles said to himself.

Erik made his way to some machinery, and Charles watched through Erik's eyes and communicated to him. "That's the nuclear reactor. Disable it."

Erik turned it off, and the power that Shaw was feeling left. Erik then continued moving forward. "Erik, you're there, you've reached the void."

"He's not here, Charles; Shaw is not here. He's left the sub. Erik yelled.

"What? He's got to be there. There's nowhere else he can be, keep looking." Charles demanded.

"And I'm telling you he's not, there's no one here, god damn it!"

The doors then opened, and Erik, hearing the sound, turned around to see Shaw.

"Erik, what a pleasant surprise. So good to see you again. May I ask you something?" Shaw said as Erik entered the room.

"Why are you on their side?" Shaw asked.

Once Erik entered that room and the door shut, Charles could no longer feel him.

"Why fight for a doomed race who will hunt us down, as soon as they realize their reign is coming to an end."

Erik then punched Shaw, but Shaw absorbed the blow.

"I'm sorry for what happened in the camps, I truly am." Shaw said and then lifted his finger at Erik's forehead, knocking him back against the wall, breaking some of the mirror. That mirror cracking allowed Charles to sense him.

"Erik, whatever you're doing, keep doing it; it's starting to work." Charles said in Erik's mind.

"But everything I did, I did for you. To unlock your power. To make you embrace it. Shaw then knocked Erik into another mirror, breaking it.

"It's working, I'm starting to see him, but I can't yet touch his mind."

"You've come a long way from bending gates. I'm so proud of you." Shaw said.

Erik then commanded the metals to destroy the rest of the mirrors and trap Shaw.

"And you're just starting to scratch the surface." Shaw continued

Shaw walked as if none of the metals sent his way did anything to him. "Think how much further we could go together." Shaw said, trying to convince Erik.

Shaw tapped Erik with his own metal before whispering to him. "I don't want to hurt you, Erik. I never did. I want to help you. This is our time. We are the future of the human race. You and me, son. This world could be ours."

"Everything you did made me stronger. Made me the weapon I am today. That's the truth. I've known it all along. You are my creator." Erik said as a piece of metal grabbed the helmet from Erik's head.

"NOW, Charles!" Erik yelled.

Charles then went into Shaw's mind, freezing him.

Erik then releases himself. As he stared at Shaw, who was motionless, he then controlled the helmet to come to him.

"I'm sorry, Charles." --- "Please, Erik, be the better man. You have it in…"--- "But I don't trust you." --- "Erik, there will be no telling what…"

Erik then put the helmet on. "If you're in there, I'd like you to know that I agree with every word you've said. We are the future. But unfortunately, you killed my mother. This is what we're going to do. I'm going to count to three. And I'm going to move the coin. One…"

The coin started to move through the air, and Charles could do nothing as he watched, controlling Shaw to stay still.

"Two…"

"Three."

The coin went into Shaw's head, and Charles yelled, feeling every bit of what was happening to Shaw till the coin exited out the other side and dropped to the ground.

Cliff hanger….

You may noticed I didn't write much about what happened with the other mutants. That because most of those fights seem like filler. They fight each other to by time and it ends up in a tie. No one dies nothing big happens so I kept it out. Just a waste of added word count. This chapter really went according to the movie. It was difficult to add parts or change parts for this chapter.

In the next chapter there will be changes.

This was Grammarly checked.
