Chapter 13 - Reversing Course

In an unknown location…

Around a large table, forty high officials are receiving feedback on the events that just took place on the island of Cuba. They witnessed beings with extraordinary abilities doing things that only a God could do. They call these humans with abilities that they have very little data on 'Mutants'.

"The Russians share our concerns. And they will join a strike against all the mutants. We can end this threat for good. We'll never have another opportunity like this." One of the high officials said to everyone around the tables.

The agent beside him knew of the whole operation. He knew that these mutants stopped a war. He was one of the ones who sent the mutants there on the mission to stop that war, and he also sent Moira, an agent, to help the mutants with their mission.

"We have an agent on that beach." He whispered with urgency.

"One agent." The man replied, willing to take the sacrifice.

"She's a good agent." He pleaded.

"She's collateral damage." The man responded with no hesitation.

On the island of Cuba, after Shaw was killed by Erik.

Charles came out of the broken jet with Moira.

All the mutants there watched as Erik used metal to lift the dead Shaw in the air. A clear message of who won.

"Today our fighting stops." Erik said as he dropped Shaw's dead body in front of Azazel, Riptide, and Angel, but the other mutants could see the body as well.

Erik levitated to the ground as he proceeded to say, "Take off your blinders, brothers and sisters. The real enemy is out there. " Erik said as he pointed at the countless battleships. They were no longer at war with each other; instead, they were together as one, no longer seeing themselves as enemies.

"I feel their guns moving in the water. Their metal is targeting us. Americans, Soviets, humans. United in their fear of the unknown. A Neanderthal is running scared, my fellow mutants. Go ahead, Charles." Erik said, asking Charles if what he said was wrong.

Charles sensed that every mission on those ships pointed in their direction. He took deep breaths with disbelief and betrayal. He then looked at Moira and nodded his head to signal that Erik was not wrong in his assessment.

Moira ran back to the Jet to the communications system. She picked up a phone. "Fleet Commander, this is X-ray Bravo-7-zero. Respond, over. The beach is secure, call off the attack."

Her call went ignored as both the Americans and Soviets prepared to fire. "Fire." Both sides' captains said numerous missiles were sent targeting the island where the mutants stood.

As the missiles got closer and closer, Erik used his mutant abilities to stop every rocket from coming at them. Erik turned them to direct them at the battle ships that had launched them.

"Erik, you said yourself, we're the better man. This is the time to prove it. There are thousands of men on those ships. Good, honest, innocent men. They're just following orders." Charles pleaded.

"I've been at the mercy of men just following orders. Never again." Erik replied, looking at Charles.

Noah glanced between Charles and Erik and sighed 'I can see both points. They did try to kill us, but they are also just doing what was being ordered of them.'

Noah remembered when he went along with his father, not knowing what he was going to do when he killed that mutant, and Noah even thought that maybe the mutant deserved what he got. That he contacted a devil for these powers. Those men on those battleships may think the same as he thought. Their line of thought is probably that those mutants are a threat to humans and deserve to get what they were doing.

Noah's eyes glowed blue along with his hands as he stared at Erik before he said, "Anything you do, I will reverse."

Erik glanced over with a shocked expression before looking back at the missile. "Then try, boy."

Erik then sent the missiles back to the battleships. Noah concentrated hard, reversing them, but with Erik constantly pushing them forward, it looked like they were trapped. Noah felt blood drip from his nose and lost control of ten, and they shot forward.

"Erik, release them." Charles demanded, yelling.

Noah slowly released control of more and more as Erik's mutant ability seemed to overpower Noah's.

More were sent forward, and Charles rushed Erik to the ground. Erik lost control of the missiles. Some of them exploded in mid-impact. Noah, feeling the release and the opportunity, controlled the furthest ones out of the ones they could still possibly hit to reverse backwards.

"I don't want to hurt you, don't make me." Erik said.

Darwin, Raven, Havok, Banshee, and Beast were going up to them to try to stop Erik, but Erik used his abilities to force them back.

While they were all distracted. Azazel went over to Shaw's corpse. Azazel looked down at it. "You have a plan, don't you?" Riptide asked. Azazel nodded, glanced over at Noah, and then back at Shaw. "I will be leaving with his body. It needs to be in a frozen place where it won't decompose." Azazel then grabbed the body and disappeared.

"Charles, enough." Erik said, now on top of him gaining back control of the missiles, sending them back in the direction of the battleships. Noah could no longer fight against control as he fell to the ground. He felt tears form in his eyes knowing he failed.

Charles continued to fight against Erik but stopped when Erik punched him in the face. Then, he stood up, regaining control of the missiles.

The missiles went closer and closer, but then Moira came out of the jet, aiming her gun at Erik, shooting it at him. One bullet was blocked by his helmet. Erik then turned to Moira. Each bullet fired at him, he deflected one, two, three, four, and then the fifth.

Erik stopped hearing a shout from Charles. Erik froze, turned back to see that one of the bullets he deflected hit Charles. Moira also stopped what she was doing. As Charles hit the ground, Erik rushed to him, controlling the bullet out of his back. While doing so, every missile lost control and flew into the waters.

Azazel teleported back, accomplishing his goal.

Erik pulled Charles onto his knees. "I'm sorry." Erik said, then, out of anger, yelled, "I said, back off!" To the other mutants that approached him.

Noah, who was still on the ground from exhaustion, looked on in shock.

Erik then looked at Moria. "You, you did this!" Erik controlled her metal necklace to choke her.

Charles looked at Erik as he said, "She didn't do this, Erik. You did." Erik looked down at Charles, releasing his hold on Moira.

"Us turning on each other, it's what they want. I tried to warn you, Charles. I want you by my side. We're brothers, you and I. All of us together. Protecting each other. We want the same thing."

Charles laughed painfully. "Oh, my friend. I'm sorry, but we do not."

Erik looked at Charles with sadness and acceptance and then looked up at Moira and motioned for her to come forward. At that moment, Erik looked at the other mutants, including Noah, kneeling on the ground, looking at them with apparent exhaustion. 'He will be able to heal Charles once he's recovered.' Erik noted.

"His society won't accept us." We form our own. The humans have played their hand. Now we get ready to play ours. Who's with me?" Erik looked at all of them before looking directly at Raven. "No more hiding."

Raven walked forward, going to Charles. Raven kneeled to Charles, holding his hand. "You, you should go with him. It's what you want." Charles said

Raven choked up, replied, "You promised me you would never read my mind."

"I know." Charles acknowledged. "I promised you a great many things, I'm afraid. I'm sorry."

Raven kissed his forehead before looking at Moira and saying, "Take care of him." Raven then got up and took Erik's hand.

Riptide, Angel, and Azazel followed suit after Raven toward Erik. 'For now.' Azazel thought.

Erik looked at Noah, and Noah, who noticed, looked back. Erik wanted to take Noah with him, but he knew that Noah was the only one who could heal Charles. He also didn't want to be like Shaw, who gave the boy no choice, so instead Erik said, "You are welcome to come to us when you grow and realize how the world is."

Noah nodded his head slowly, not convinced.

"And Beast, never forget, Mutant and proud." Raven said before they all teleported away.

Beast, Havok, Darwin, and Banshee ran to Charles.

Once they got there. Moira said, "I'm going to get you to a hospital."

Noah was slowly standing up.

"Wait, don't, Charles, don't move, okay." Beast said.

"All right, actually I ca…..I…I… I can't feel my legs."

Noah walked to them slowly, exhausted, feeling him. Once he got to Charles, he said, "Move him onto his side. I will heal him." Beast did as instructed.

Noah's eyes glowed blue as he focused on the point on Charles's back where the bullet his him. Noah focused his small remaining energy on that point.

Noah's eyes were fluctuating between glowing and returning to normal. Noah knew that if he didn't put more into it, he wouldn't be able to heal Charles. Noah yelled, putting all his energy into rewinding the damage. His eyes shone as brightly when he healed Darwin, and then Noah collapsed.

At the mansion…

"So, how many students do you think you will have here? Once you get the academy up and running." Moria asked as she and Charles walked hand in hand outside beside the mansion.

"As many as I can manage. Possibly more." Charles replied, stopping his legs to look at one part of the mansion.

"You know, one day the government is going to realize how lucky they were to have Professor X on their side." Moira replied.

"We're still on the government's side, Moira. Still a G-man, just without the G."

"No, you're your own team now. It's better. You're, X-Men"

Charles laughed before saying, "Yes, I like the sound of that. Moira, for us, anonymity will be the first line of defense."

"I know. They can threaten me with all they want, Charles. I'll never tell them where you are. Ever"

"I know you won't. My love." Charles said, leaning in for a kiss, and Moira lifted her head up to reach halfway. Charles then put his hand to his head, concentrating on making Moria forget where they are, most of who they are, only leaving the memories of the attack on HQ.

Once Moira left, Beast walked outside to see Charles standing there. "That must have been hard." Beast acknowledged.

Charles nodded before asking. "Noah has left already, correct?"

Beast nodded before saying, "Darwin tried to convince him to stay, but he wanted to go back to his family. He did say, though, that he would visit and if he found any mutants, he knew where he could send them."

Charles stared out into the forest. "I owe him a huge debt. Without him, I would never walk again."

In CIA headquarters, Erik broke in looking for Emma Frost, but as he searched room by room, she was already gone. Twenty minutes before Erik broke in.

Emma Frost was lying down on a very uncomfortable bed when a puff of red smoke appeared, and seeing a red man.

"Azazel, it's about time you broke me out. Where is Shaw?" Emma asked.

"Dead for now. But with your help, we can reverse that."

Emma smiled as she replied, "You always said that if it wasn't for Shaw, you would never work with me. What's changed?"

Azazel scoffed as he replied. "This is for Shaw. Now, do you want to get out, or do you want to stay here?"

"Well, Prince Charming, I want out of here." Emma replied.

Azazel grabbed her before teleporting away.

Holy Changes! This arc is completed. We will be heading back to Noah's arc but do not expect this to go as the marvel movies or comics anymore. Noah being there is bringing large impacts.
