Chapter 3: Long Live Peace
It seemed there was a slight deviation in his communication with Blade.
According to Du Wa's plan, they were supposed to capture people secretly. In Blade's view, however, why bother capturing them? Just let the vampires come over themselves, and the rest was up to Du Wa.
"Six of them... That'll do."
Du Wa counted them. It was fine. With the power he now commanded, dealing with these six was more than enough.
George looked at the harmless-looking young man and cried out in alarm, "Run! These guys are dangerous!"
"I know, I know." Du Wa whispered, turning a blind eye to the gore on the ground as if he hadn't noticed it at all.
This was reasonable. It was nighttime, and they were a hundred meters apart.
A vampire raised his head, licked his blood-soaked lips, and charged at him excitedly.
Dennis felt something was off but said nothing, watching with his powerful vision.
If nothing unexpected happened, this human would soon be pinned to the ground by the vampire and have his neck bitten through—a vampire's absolute power and speed were far superior to an ordinary person's.
George's expression changed drastically. He wanted to save the young man's life, knowing all too well what kind of monstrous things vampires were, but at this distance, it seemed too late.
Just as the attacking vampire was about to bite Du Wa's neck.
In that very instant.
Swish!
A tail shimmering with a silvery luster suddenly shot out from the darkness. It grazed past Du Wa's shoulder, silent yet filled with a chilling killing intent, precisely aimed at the approaching vampire's face.
"The chest."
Du Wa issued the command just in time. The tip of the tail shifted slightly downward, piercing through the vampire's chest in a single blow, skewering him and lifting him high into the air.
A shrill scream rang out. The vampire's abundant life force prevented him from dying on the spot, his fear mixed with disbelief.
What is this thing?!
K-k-k!
A series of faint scuttling noises sounded.
Immediately after, several ghost-like figures darted through the darkness, spreading out and surrounding the vampires at close range.
Dennis frowned slightly, his gaze fixed on these strange creatures.
"Four of them... What kind of creature is this?" A look of surprise appeared on Dennis's face.
So this was it. The police who showed up out of nowhere, the strange human with his strange creatures.
Dennis thought of that special blood, observing these Xenomorphs with his powerful night vision.
Looking closely, the general shape of these things was of a similar style, but there were subtle differences. Some were slightly more robust, while others had slender bodies, which likely meant greater speed and agility. The only commonality was that all four Xenomorphs were on all fours... but Dennis had a strange feeling, as if they were animals of different body structures all wearing the same skin, crouched before him.
George and the others were also stunned, their mouths agape in astonishment. The scene before them completely exceeded their expectations.
"You know Blade? It seems you're the one who provided him with that strange weapon," Dennis said.
At this distance and with this tone, both sides could still clearly hear what the other was saying.
"Exactly. It's just that a small deviation occurred in our plans. Killing you all might correct it a bit."
As Du Wa spoke, his eyes were fixed on the vampire skewered on the Xenomorph's tail. Good, just a hole in the chest. He wouldn't die. If he was taken back promptly, he could still be saved.
"That liquid you gave Blade, it was also blood, wasn't it? Where did you get it? Don't tell me you created it yourself, or could it be..." Dennis's eyes repeatedly scanned the Xenomorphs.
Although it was somewhat absurd, after eliminating all other possibilities, it was probably related to these strange but powerful creatures.
The fact that one could easily skewer a strong vampire with just a tail was enough to show that the power of this creature was extraordinary.
"Attack." However, Du Wa was the first to give the command.
The other three Xenomorphs moved quickly, pouncing on the enemies first. The Xenomorph beside Du Wa immediately followed, joining the battle.
The group of vampires immediately drew their pistols and opened fire on the Xenomorphs.
They were smart. Making the initial judgment that the Xenomorphs excelled in melee combat, they decided to deal with them using firearms.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Minor wounds began to appear on the Xenomorphs' bodies, yet they continued their attack as if they felt no pain. As they drew near, the blood from their wounds started to drip, splattering onto the vampires and making a sizzling sound.
"!!"
"My foot's been corroded through!"
"Careful, these things' blood is highly corrosive, just like those weapons the Daywalker uses! It can even easily corrode steel! But it's never been this strong..."
With this, the truth was completely revealed. But it was precisely because they had their suspicions that the vampires were all the more shocked.
How could such a bizarre thing exist in the world? Even the blood it shed after being injured could inflict powerful damage on its enemies? No, the very fact that its body could contain such corrosive blood was already preposterous.
This creature was simply a weapon born for battle!
Intense gunfire rang out continuously. A few vampires, their ferocity triggered, abandoned their firearms and charged forward for melee combat, but they quickly realized this was the wrong decision.
The moment he charged in close, one of the Xenomorphs opened its mouth and spat out a mouthful of blood.
With just that, one vampire was taken out of the fight.
One by one, the vampires fell. Yet, for some reason, they were injured but not killed. Their limbs were brutally torn off by the Xenomorphs, leaving them to lie on the ground, wailing in agony.
The more desperately they fought, creating more wounds on the Xenomorphs, the more blood they were splattered with, and the greater the price they paid.
Even Dennis was stunned. The Xenomorphs' combat performance was astonishing. They were so well-trained, it was as if they had rehearsed this countless times. Despite having no vocal or physical communication, they executed perfect tactics. Their individual capabilities were extremely difficult to deal with, and what's more, they feared neither injury nor death.
No, or rather, on the premise that bleeding also harmed the enemy, their own injuries and death had become one of the combat methods this creature could utilize.
"Enough! Stop! I came to negotiate!"
Dennis fought off a Xenomorph and, seeing his subordinates falling one after another, couldn't help but shout, waving his arm powerfully as he aimed at Du Wa's position and immediately fired.
His aim was impeccable.
But Du Wa merely sidestepped slightly and precisely dodged the bullet.
Dennis's expression changed. He fired continuously, but with his level of marksmanship, not a single shot hit the target!
This couldn't be explained away by good luck. It meant the other party's physical condition surpassed that of an ordinary human, and he possessed, at the very least, an incredibly strong perceptive ability.
Dennis was then pounced on by a Xenomorph, his body heavily corroded, and could only let out a miserable howl.
His heart was filled with immense regret. He felt he had been too arrogant and should have called for more men.
But even if he had, facing such an agile opponent, it would have been difficult to stop them from escaping.
More importantly, Dennis had felt bewildered from the very beginning. Heaven help him, he didn't even know who his opponent was or where they came from!
"Six vampires. Truly wonderful."
Only then did Du Wa walk over, completely unscathed, looking appreciatively at the six figures who were injured but not dead.
"You're not killing us, so you want to negotiate? Speak. What do you want? Money? Or status and power?" Seeing that none of his men had died, Dennis breathed a sigh of relief.
As long as they could talk, there was a chance to live. Then he could consider how to retaliate.
"None of those. I need you all to stay alive for the next few hours. I can't wait to verify something of critical importance on you lot, who survive by drinking human blood."
Du Wa's voice carried an inexplicable thirst for discovery, like the whisper of a devil.
