In Washington, D.C, Martin is having dinner with her adopted African-American son, David.
David: Is there something on your mind?
Martin: Huh...Oh, nothing, son....nothing's on my mind.
David gives a look, raising his eyebrow.
Martin: What?
David: You really expect me to believe that that's a nothing look?
Martin sighs.
Martin: You can tell, huh?
David: I'm your son. Of course I can tell.
Martin: Well....right now; I'm left with a hard decision that could change the course of Enhumanity.
David: You mean the cure, right?
Martin: Yes....You know, your father would always give me the same look when he knew I was trying to make a decision. God rest his soul. "What movie I wanted to see? What restaurant I wanted to go to? Whether I should run for President?"
David laughs.
Martin: Seriously, though. What do you think?
David: Honestly, I have no problem with Enhumans, Mom.....but this cure, some with want it. Some won't....what do you think you should do?
Martin: See how the public reacts and-
As if answering her question, an Enhuman protest is occurring, as a result of the announcement of the cure.
Enhuman: We don't need a cure!
Enhuman: This cure is bullshit!
Enhuman: To hell with that cure!
Martin sighs.
David: Well, Mom....think of it as election day.
At Parker Tower, the Eagle returns and descends into the docking bay with the team monitoring Kala. Maria is also present, giving a glare at Kala. Trisha walks over to Maria, speaking low.
Trisha: I know what you're thinking...
Maria: Do you?
Trisha: Look, I know....I haven't forgotten--
Maria: Seems like you have so I'll remind you. She's the reason Dad's dead.
Trisha: Tarmac is the reason Dad is dead.
Maria: But she sold you out. I was there and so were you...so was Josh. Your husband.
Trisha: It was five years ago, Maria. She's changed. She's turned her life around.
Maria sighs, looking at the unconscious Kala, before leaving.
Trisha: Maria!
Trisha sighs.
Trisha: Damn it
In his lab, Charles is working on the alien fragment just as John is walking in.
James: Charles, what are you doing here?
Charles: Just tinkering....
Charles hides the recent alien fragment behind him.
James: What are you working on?
Charles: Uh...just something small.
James: Small, huh?
James looks behind Charles, spotting the alien fragment.
James: What the hell is that?
Charles sighs.
Charles: If I tell you, you can't tell your father, your sister or anyone else. At least not yet. Understand?
James: Lips are sealed.
Charles pulls out the other fragment he had collected twenty years ago.
Charles: Twenty years ago in 1996, right? Me, your father....your mother and Arianna, stopped a crazed Russian warlord from opening a dimensional portal...a door...your mother gave her life to close the portal....some fragments like this one here came through...
James: Why are you telling me this?
Charles: Because it's been doing this....today's the twenty year anniversary....it's been glowing...since this one got here.
The fragment glows as James turns his head.
James: Why do you think they're doing that?
Charles: I don't know.....but maybe it's reaction to the it's twin being in the room.....or maybe it's a beacon.
James: A beacon?
Charles: A door...this thing, whatever it is, harnesses incredible power beyond our comprehension....and if Atlanteans exist beneath our oceans....then think of what could exist beyond our planet.
James: You want to open a door to another planet?
Charles: Why not? Aren't you curious?
James: Charles, Genesis has been off the map for three years, and Caspian has been keeping Atlantis on its toes. We don't need any more threats....especially since we don't know what could be out there.
Charles: Well, I am a scientist.....and as a scientists, I am curious.
Charles then picks up the two pieces and begin to put them together.
James: Uh, Charles...you sure that's a good idea?
Charles: I'm a scientist, boy. I love challenges.
The two pieces a brought together when suddenly, a burst of energy blasts James and Charles back. The blast is felt by the rest of the team.
Alex: What the hell?!
Jessica: It sounds like that came from the labs!
The team runs from the room while in the labs, James and Charles recover to discover a small wormhole in the room.
James: Holy shit....
Charles: My god!
John: What's going on in-
The team stops in their tracks as they notice the wormhole.
Josh: What the-
Eva: What is that?
John: What are you two doing in here?!
Charles: We brought the pieces together! And-
Eva: "Pieces"? Wait, you had another piece?!
James: Yeah, and for twenty years to add!
John tilts his head to Charles.
John: Charles, what did-
Charles: I'm sorry, John, I was just curious to see what we were dealing with and....
As John and Charles argue, the portal begins to flash repeatedly.
Jessica: Uh...guys...
Trisha: I think something is coming...
The team stares at the portal.
John: Shut it down! Shut it down! Now!
James runs and grabs the rock fragments, attempting to separate them. Suddenly, there is a large blast, just as James finally separates the fragments. The team recovers just as they notice a figure lying on the ground. The figure then begins to stand up just as the team powers up, preparing for a fight. The figure then lifts their head, revealing to be Sara, who's former Super suit is torn to shreds. John's eyes depower as his eyes widen with shock. Sara then faints as John flies over to catch her.
John: Oh, my god...Oh, my god....this...this is impossible.
Charles: I don't understand. How is she still alive?
Josh: Uh...guys....does someone wanna fill us in? Who is this?
John looks to the young adults.
John: She...she...
James: She's our mom...
The team share looks as John looks down at Sara.
John: Sara....
