"Sir Kagami!" Seeing Kagami arrive, Orochimaru greeted him respectfully, setting down the potion he was preparing with a crisp click.
Kagami stepped into the laboratory, the air thick with the smell of various chemicals. His eyes scanned the shelves filled with strange instruments before landing on Orochimaru. "What's the status?" Kagami asked with a faint smile. "Has the experiment to clone the Rinnegan made any progress?"
A rare, genuine smile appeared on Orochimaru's face. He nodded. "The cell cloning process has been perfected. As long as I can solve the problem of generating pupil power, I can clone a perfect Rinnegan." He had been working tirelessly on this project for a long time. If his body hadn't already been modified for longevity, he would have died from exhaustion long ago.
"Then how long will it take to solve the pupil power problem?" Kagami asked. He was already powerful, but no one would refuse the chance to become even stronger. Besides, the Rinnegan might be crucial in dealing with the Sage of Six Paths, who was still lurking in the Pure Land. He had not forgotten the old schemer's actions and would kill him the first chance he got.
To evolve his Sharingan into the Rinnegan, he either needed to absorb both Indra and Asura's chakra or absorb a massive amount of pupil power. Since Naruto was dead, the first method was impossible. His only option was the second, and for that, he needed a sufficient supply of potent eye power. Cloning Madara's Rinnegan was the only way to meet that requirement.
Orochimaru pondered for a moment, a hint of difficulty on his face. "After extensive research, I've found that pupil power is a transformation of mental energy combined with Yin-Yang Release. But I cannot master Yin-Yang Release, so it is difficult to proceed. Unless I can find someone who has mastered it to assist me, it could take decades to clone a complete Rinnegan."
He had tried other methods, but they only produced powerless, empty shells. He knew Kagami would not be interested in such things.
Kagami nodded. "If that's the case, then I'll leave a clone here to assist you. I also know Yin-Yang Release, so you don't need to look for anyone else." A few days ago, his clone had finally learned the technique from Black Zetsu. While he hadn't fully mastered it, it should be enough to assist with the research.
"Oh!" Orochimaru's face lit up with surprise and a wide smile. "I didn't expect Sir Kagami to have even learned Yin-Yang Release. This is truly wonderful!" He knew the practice had been lost to time and was impressed, though not surprised, that Kagami had learned it. He wasn't interested in how; he only knew that his research could now finally succeed.
Kagami simply created a clone to stay behind and then left.
A week later, the day for Kurenai and Anko to give birth arrived. Kagami stood outside the door, nervous once again. Though he had experienced this twice before, he couldn't help but feel a little anxious each time. But this time, he was calmer, waiting quietly for the babies to be born.
Soon, a clear cry echoed from the delivery room, loud and powerful, as if announcing its arrival to the world. Hearing it, Kagami's tense expression relaxed into a smile. The system's voice chimed in.
[Ding! Congratulations to the host on having your fourth child. Would you like to begin the template draw?]
But before he could answer, another cry was heard, this one a little softer but still full of life. The system's voice sounded again.
[Ding! Congratulations to the host on having a fifth child. Would you like to begin the template draw?]
"Draw, draw immediately!" Kagami commanded happily in his heart, overjoyed at having two more children.
As he expected, the system soon announced the results.
[Ding! Congratulations to the host for drawing the character for the fourth offspring—the template of the genius sorcerer, Megumi Fushiguro! Do you want to begin the fusion?]
[Ding! Congratulations to the host for drawing the character for the fifth offspring—the genius scientist, Vegapunk! Do you want to begin the fusion?]
"Oh, Megumi Fushiguro with the Ten Shadows Technique and Vegapunk who ate the Brain-Brain Fruit?" Kagami was pleasantly surprised. He had thought the templates wouldn't be very strong this time, but they were unexpectedly good. He had assumed the Dante and Vergil templates were a one-time bonus for having twins, but it seemed his luck was holding out.
While Megumi and Vegapunk's combat power in their original stories couldn't compare to Sukuna, Dante, or Vergil, Kagami knew their potential was just as high. Megumi, with his Ten Shadows Technique, could reach or even surpass Sukuna's level if he could just tame Mahoraga. The ability to adapt to anything was simply too broken. Given time, the growth potential was limitless. It was a pity that in the original story, Megumi had been too weak to ever fully master it.
