Multiverse
The theory that multiple universes exist, not just one.
Meaning, there's a world where Mash was raised by Regro, and one where he wasn't.
This is the story of Mash meeting a Sensei from another world.
Phew… "Work's done for today. Rest can wait till tomorrow."
I sip freshly brewed coffee—damn, I make a good cup.
I love drinking this while gazing out the window.
Oh, introductions: I'm Schale's Sensei, working in Kivotos. Dignified, sincere, refined adult—yep, that's me.
"Exhausted today…"
So much has happened since I was called here as Sensei. Abydos Countermeasures Committee, Game Dev, Eden Treaty—tons. But I think I'm fulfilling my role.
Sigh.
As an adult, I don't get irritated easily. Kivotos' crazy workload or troublemaking students? I handle it. Experience taught me how to deal with stress.
Rattle, rattle, CRASH!
"…The door?"
My stress-coping skills—
CRACK!
"RAAAGH!?"
"Hey, Sensei. Good work."
"Not 'good work'! Why'd you break the door, Mash-kun!? Even Wakamo enters normally!"
"Couldn't tell if it's push or pull."
"How many times have you used this door!?"
"Tried to fix it."
"You broke it more!"
"Sorry, I'll fix it." Sigh.
"Fine… if you're sorry, it's okay."
He's honest, really honest.
CLANG CLANG CLANG!
"RAAAGH! Direction, direction!"
"It's not fitting…"
"The direction!"
"What're you saying?"
"Stop it!"
"Lick my butt?"
"NOOO!"
CRACK!
"Oops."
"Yuuka's gonna kill me…"
"Sorry, Sensei…"
No malice, super honest…
His name's Mash Burnedead, apparently Schale's Sensei from another world.
He arrived weeks ago while I was working.
That day, I was sorting paperwork with Yuuka and Rin-chan—no, just Rin. Rin had business, Yuuka was on Schale duty.
"Work's endless…"
"Keep at it, Sensei. Almost done."
"Still… after everything, I'm drained."
"Even so…"
"Maybe a lap pillow from Yuuka and Rin would recharge me?"
"W-What!?"
"Exactly!"
"Sorry, your embarrassed faces energized me. Let's do this!"
"Sensei!"
"Sorry, sorry…"
Then, something crashed from the sky—hard.
"!"
"Sensei, behind us!"
"Right!"
Thinking it was an attack, I readied the Schale tablet, standing behind Yuuka and Rin.
"…This is Schale? Why'd I fall from the sky?"
Smoke cleared, revealing a boy with black mushroom-cut hair, otherwise unremarkable. Clearly a kid.
"You! Hands up, now! Who are you!?"
"Who? We know each other, right?"
"What're you talking about?"
"Huh?"
"Huh?"
The kid was Mash-kun, and he seemed to know Yuuka and Rin.
"It's me, Mash Burnedead!"
"Mash… Burnedead? Yuuka, know him?"
"Nope. Don't lie to dodge this!"
"But we ate cream puffs together!"
"No memory of that."
"Rin-san, we de-stressed together, right? You got a rare day off."
"No such memory. I don't get days off."
"No way…"
Mash looked genuinely confused. A kid in trouble—I had to act.
"You're Mash-kun, right?"
"Yeah… You are?"
"Schale's Sensei."
"Sensei? You're Schale's Sensei too?"
"Too?"
"I'm Schale's Sensei. Same job—crazy coincidence!"
We were shocked. This boy claimed to be Schale's Sensei, despite me, the real one, standing here.
"What're you saying?"
"Proof! Show proof!"
"Here, take a look."
"A… Schale tablet!?"
"I can activate it."
Unbelievable. Another Schale tablet, which only I should activate—yet he did.
"How…?"
"Sensei, what do we do?"
"Hmm… Can you raise your hands? I want to hear more."
"Sure."
(He just complies?)
"We'll do a body check. Don't move."
"Got it."
Rin and Yuuka searched Mash thoroughly… the scene was, uh, awkward.
"…?"
"Anything?"
"Just… this."
They found—cream puffs?
"Cream puffs!?"
"Good, they're not crushed."
"Wait… cream puffs in your pockets? Still intact?"
"Nothing else…"
Rin and Yuuka kept pulling cream puffs from Mash's pockets.
"A 4D pocket or what!?"
"Why so many cream puffs?"
"They're my main food."
"That's not an answer!"
"Anything else?"
"Nothing… Wait!"
"Yuuka?"
"Sensei… this."
A photo of Mash with Abydos' Countermeasures Committee, all smiling. I called Hoshino—she said, "Don't know any Mash. Neither do the others."
Then it hit me:
"Another world's… Sensei."
"?"
Mash Burnedead was me from another world.
Now:
"Didn't expect to get flung to another world."
"Yeah, shocked me too. It happens, huh?"
I convinced Yuuka and Rin to let Mash stay until he could return home.
"If you touch Sensei, you're done."
"Be careful, Sensei. Bye."
They stayed wary of Mash, unable to fully trust another world's Sensei.
"Yuuka-chan and Rin-san's cold stares… kinda hurt."
"Sorry, things have been rough. They're paranoid."
"Rough?"
"Yeah, lots."
Mash's world hasn't reached the Eden Treaty yet. I considered warning him but felt it might cause trouble, so I stayed quiet.
"Can I ask something?"
"Sure."
"How'd you save Abydos and Game Dev in your world?"
"Probably like you."
"Like me…"
That made me think. If he did it like me, he faced the same battles, leading students in combat—a burden kids shouldn't bear.
"Same, huh."
"You did great. Scary, right? Standing in gunfire."
"Not really."
"Not really?"
"You did it too, right? Wasn't it tough?"
"Well, yeah, but you—"
It must've been harder for him, I thought, but his next words stunned me.
"Caught Wakamo's bullets."
"Yeah, ca—What?"
"Destroyed tanks."
"Destroyed?"
"Wiped out the Kata-Kata Helmet Gang."
"Wiped out?"
"Suppressed the Handyman girls."
"Suppressed…"
"Robbed a bank."
"Okay, that we share…"
"Buried Kaiser."
"Buried!? You buried Kaiser's director!?"
"Landed moves on Black Suit, voided Hoshino's contract."
"Moves on Black Suit!?"
"Hit Kaiser's director with Hellfall."
"Hellfall? What's that violent name?"
"Beat a giant snake to a pulp."
"Giant snake—Bina!? It appeared in the desert!?"
"Reduced Abydos' debt a ton. Did a lot, huh? You too, right?"
"I didn't do ANY of that!"
He's lying… right? No way a normal human does that. Wait, he fell from the sky unharmed… No, Arona must've protected him!
"So… how'd you save them?"
"Lots of ways…"
"Hina helped in the desert, so that was easier."
"Hina… so you got the Disciplinary Committee's help. Got it, you too, huh?"
You too…
Licked Iori's feet.
It was desperate times, no choice… I'm not bad, right?
"Mash-kun… you licked Iori's feet too, huh?"
"…What?"
"It's fine, I did too. We were desperate, no shame—"
"Licking… what?"
"Got Disciplinary Committee's help by licking Iori's feet… Wait?"
"Licking… a girl's foot?"
"You… didn't?"
"You did?"
"…Yeah."
Mash backed away, hiding his feet. Wait, no, Mash-kun!
"It's okay, people have different tastes, I get it—"
"No! I'm not a pervert! Just eccentric!"
"Licking feet isn't eccentric!" Deadpan.
"Please listen! I licked Iori's feet, sniffed Siroko and Hina's hair, but—"
"What?" Backs away more.
"No, Mash-kun!"
For ten minutes, Mash visibly avoided me. I'm not a pervert…
After clearing the misunderstanding, I caught my breath and continued talking.
I made Mash promise not to leave Schale until we figured out how to send him back. Kivotos has few halo-less humans, and a kid from another world could attract bad adults.
"No going outside, okay?"
"Got it."
"I'm stepping out for an errand. Absolutely no going out."
"Got it."
"Good, you're honest. Be back soon."
Is he really okay? I hurried to finish my errand.
Mash stared at a cream puff shop flyer.
Click.
"Sorry, Sensei, my stomach won't wait." Slam!
"Hand-deliver paperwork? That's rough…"
Holding twenty sheets, I headed back, thinking how to return Mash. That's priority.
"Maybe buy him cream puffs… there's a shop—"
"Who's this?"
"Come quick!"
"No way."
"New face… Where you from?"
"Schale, for cream puffs… Oops, shouldn't say that."
"Schale?"
"No way…!"
Why's he outside!? And with Kaiser Corporation! Trouble!
"Take him!"
I grabbed my tablet, rushing to Mash. But my physical skills—!
"Wait! Don't touch—"
Mash grabbed the Kaiser soldier's arm.
"Huh?"
"Sorry… but—" Grip.
"Wha—!? Gah!"
A creaking sound… Wait, is that crunching?
"I was told not to go with strangers."
"You!"
"Don't move. I'll break his arm."
"Bluff! No way—"
"OWOWOW! Stop, he's serious!"
"See?"
Mash's grip made sparks fly from the soldier's iron arm.
"Mash-kun!"
"Hey, Sensei."
"Sensei!?" Screams in pain.
"He's your student!? Stop him!"
"Mash-kun, let go?"
"Sure."
Mash released him. The soldier's arm was dented.
"You'll pay for this!"
"What'll happen?"
"Mash-kun, don't provoke!"
"Wanna know? I'll show you!"
The dented-arm soldier aimed a gun with his other hand. I moved to shield Mash, but he acted faster.
"Mash-kun, don't get close—"
CRUNCH!
"Don't… do that…"
He crushed the gun.
"Tell me what happens. Right here, now."
Mash approached; the soldiers, spooked by his gun-crushing, fled.
"Sorry, Sensei, broke my promise."
"It's… fine. But…"
"Bought cream puffs. Want one?"
"…Sure." Brain off.
I was certain.
Mash solved Abydos and Game Dev…
With sheer brute force.
