Arc I: Weaponization Arc
Max Hart has always hated his life from the start.
He was always the weired one. The strange one. The kid everyone would always avoid at the orphanage.
Max was a loner.
There were some people who tried to talk to him but his isolation resulted in him avoiding people.
You can say isolation became a habit of his.
He watched as every kid in his generation got adopted by smiling couples. Every single one... except him.
He was 16 now. He knew nobody was gonna adopt a 16 year old kid.
So, he decided to run away.
He finally snapped.
As he expected, nobody can after him. No police. No search party.
Deep down, Max knew they were glad he left.
He found himself roaming around in a city he never even knew existed—Yeah, they were some trips the orphanage went on, but he never went on any of them.
He thought he would just be bother.
Soon enough, he was hustling scraps.
Things were already bad.
And then they worse.
He met her.
Max was sitting on a bench at a park wondering where his life was headed when a familiar voice broke through his silence.
"Max? Is that you?"
Alura.
She was one of the kids who tried to befriend Max back then.
It seemed like she was on a run— Alura has always been athletic; even at the orphanage she was the fastest runner.
"What happened to you?" She asked, eyes wide.
"Wouldn't you like to know."
Max responds bitterly so she can just leave him alone.
"Isn't your family waiting for you?"
Alura noticed that Max was in a bad place right now so she decided to sit next to him on the bench.
Usually Max would just leave when someone got this close to him but this time he stayed put.
maybe he just wanted some comfort.
"It's been a while, hasn't it?"
Max stayed silent.
"You know," Alura said, nervously fiddling with her fingers, "I was serious about being friends back then."
"I noticed how you were alone and—"
"Why was I the one who ended up like this?" Max interrupted, "Why was it me who had the bad ending?"
"Max?"
"Be honest. Did you only try to be my friend because you felt pity that I was alone?"
Alura never even tried to deny it, he was right.
"It's fine," he muttered, "everyone had the same reason."
"That's why I decided to leave that place."
Alura's eyes widened at his sentence. She wanted to say something but what could say, she was exactly like the others.
"M-Max? Maybe my parents can help you out. If we just asked, I'm sure they can–"
"No thanks"
Silence once again filled the atmosphere. The world felt frozen.
Then her phone rings. She pulls it out and the contact appears to be her 'mom'.
"It seems you gotta go."
"Y-yeah"
She gets off her seat dusting off herself.
She looks back at Max
"See you later?" She asks.
"I don't think so," Max responds coldly.
After she left, Max finds himself looking at the deep grey sky.
"I think..."
"...I'm done."
