Chapter 3 - THE NEW KING

The king of the wall advances and, making a vertical cut on Cobel, who dodges by kicking his face, he fell into the lake. He soon got up and charged at Cobel again. Cobel looked to the side where his daughter was coming to call him for a meal; when she saw her father, he said:

— Get out of here, Eli! Tell your mother and the others in the village to leave. — When he finished speaking, he turned, but was stopped by a kick to his face from the king of the wall.

So, she left, frightened while her father fought against a strange and unknown giant.

The king of the wall didn't waste time and soon cut his opponent's chest before he fell to the ground. Upon falling to the ground, the king of the giants let out a slight smile of satisfaction.

— Look at that, it seems the new generation has arrived. It seems I can't take it so easy on you anymore. — Says Cobel, the king of the giants.

The king of the wall runs, Cobel, still on the ground, picks up a stone and throws it at his opponent's face. Upon being hit by the stone, he is distracted, but quickly returns his attention to the fight.

With the distraction, an opening was created. He quickly runs behind the king of the wall.

— You know, I could kill you now.

'Wait, when did he get behind me, and whose voice is that?'

Before he even finished that thought, he received a punch to his face that made his nose bleed. He flew into the forest. The king of the giants wasted no time, and before he could collide with a tree, Cobel kicked the king of the wall in the back.

He felt an immense pain; he had never felt that kind of pain before. He flew back towards the lake. When he approached the ground, he used his sword to stop. When he stopped, the king of the giants appeared, waving the sword near his face. The king of the wall blocked Cobel's attack with his sword.

Cobel delivers a quick kick, but the giant in front of him holds the kick. He pulled his leg closer to him, thus making him fall to the ground full of stones. When he saw Cobel fall to the ground, he took his sword and tried to pierce the king of the giants' belly. The king put his hand on his stomach. The king of the wall plunged his sword into the king of the giants' hand, even so, he tried to get through the hand to pierce his belly.

Cobel felt the sword piercing him more and more until he saw an opening. Upon seeing this opening, he kicks the chin of the king of the wall, who ends up losing strength and falling to the ground.

Cobel gets up and takes the bone sword from his opponent. He looks at him with pity, lying on the ground, trying to move or get up.

Even having the opportunity to kill the king of the wall, he began to beat him until he lost consciousness. He took his worn and torn shirt and began to beat him. While beating him, the king of the wall remembered his past fights, the giants he killed without pity or mercy, humiliatingly killing the prince of the wall and even doing as his enemy is now doing to him, beating the old king of the wall.

In Cobel's vision, the king of the wall's face was beginning to disfigure, his nose was starting to bleed a lot, his eye to swell and his lips to show cuts. When he went to deliver another punch, his hand was stopped, being held by the wrist with a force that even he was impressed with, after all, he was regaining his strength at that moment.

Cobel soon let go of the shirt and the king of the wall let go of his wrist; he moved away. While the king of the wall got up, Cobel picked up his sword that he had dropped for the beating.

The king of the wall stood up and walked towards his sword; upon picking up his sword, he suddenly disappeared and appeared behind Cobel, who defended the attack with difficulty and began a sequence of sword strikes until the two moved away, ran and clashed swords, which made the forest shake and the ground crack.

The king of the wall put all his strength into this sword blow which made it break. Cobel makes a vertical cut, the king of the wall jumps, giving a kick that hits Cobel. Right after, without wasting time, he punches the king of the giants' stomach, who feels both blows and becomes dizzy, but the king of the wall didn't stop, delivering a punch to his nose, which made him put his hand to stop the bleeding. The king of the wall then pulls the king of the giants' hair.

— I think I can no longer call myself the king of the wall; it is more appropriate, king killer. — He says with wide eyes.

This frightened the king of the giants, who soon received a knee to his chest. This irritated him even more.

'I have never suffered such a great humiliation! This bastard will see what I can do with a fraction of my power.' Cobel thought.

So, he got up, let go of his sword and ran towards his no longer adversary but enemy; he easily dodged an attack from the king of the wall and punched his chin again, thus making him lose strength again, but this time it made him fly until he surpassed the trees that were around. He jumped and surpassed the height that his enemy was and kicked his head with his heel with a third of his real strength; he collided on the ground with such force that it created a crater on the ground.

Upon landing on the ground, he looked at his enemy on the ground lying with a pool of blood forming and spitting blood, so he turned and walked to the village. He was a little dizzy.

'I underestimated him too much; I should have gone to fight with this one-third of my power. Oh, damn, it's hurting a lot.' Cobel thought. While he was thinking, he felt something at his back, so he turned around quickly and saw nothing, even so, he decided to stay alert. He walked a little further when he felt something approaching; he quickly turned with his arms crossed. He soon received a punch on those arms; it was the king of the wall. However, he was at his limit; there was blood running down his head, his arms were bloody, cuts that were small were now bigger, and his body was trembling.

In his vision, he only saw Cobel; he no longer saw anything else; it was just Cobel. He gritted his teeth in hatred, a hatred that could only disappear with death.

The two looked at each other and realized that this was the end of the fight. So, they ran towards each other and delivered punches in the direction of each other. The punches collided, a strong wind arose dragging the surrounding trees, raising dust, and the ground began to sink; the wounds on the king of the wall's arm began to open even more, and the muscles began to open; an immeasurable pain arose. The king of the giants became even more dizzy; the two move away and stare at each other.

The king of the wall felt that his legs were going to collapse and that he would only last a few minutes or just one more charge, while the king of the giants was about to collapse from dizziness, even so, he decided to continue fighting. After all, there was no way to escape the fight.

The two once again advanced with everything they had, delivering punches to one another's faces. The king tripped him, Cobel dodged; then he tried to step on the king of the wall's shin, who moved in time and even on the ground gave a kick that the other grabbed his leg and pulled it and gave an elbow to the leg. He groaned in pain, even so, he got up. Cobel could no longer take it; he saw his enemy advancing and what he could do was defend until his exhaustion. So, he raised his arms to defend. The king of the wall ran and delivered one of his last punches with strength, making Cobel's arm fracture, and his arms fell with the great pain he felt and he knelt down. The king of the wall gives his last punch with his strength to the face of the king of the giants; upon delivering this last blow, a strong wind was created in the direction of the blow.

He falls to the ground from exhaustion, Cobel was left with his fractured skull on the ground and slowly trying to stay conscious.

While all this was happening, Jay cried for an hour, and the mysterious voice comforted him along with his father who would now hunt the giant who destroyed the wall to avenge his wife. After a while, Poul asked someone nearby where they were going.

— Where are we going? — The man raised an eyebrow. — Well, everyone on the ship is going to the forest city which is close to a tribe of giants, who were nicknamed the forest giants. Well, that's all the information I have. Goodbye.

So Poul decided to gather more information.

Jay decided to wait for his father, so he waited and waited, soon he became impatient and went to look for his father. After crying so much and feeling guilty, this was a great way to distract his mind; he looked and looked. He didn't find his father, but he found a girl with purple hair who was crying; he approaches her.

— What's wrong? Why are you crying? — Jay asked with pity.

The girl stopped crying and looked at Jay. — I... I got lost from my mom.

— Seriously? — She nodded. — So let's go find her.

— Okay. — She spoke with little enthusiasm.

So they went to look.

The king of the giants was still conscious, trying to survive even if it didn't help much, he... he already knew he was going to die. The king of the wall woke up; he got up, even after sleeping for an hour, he was still tired. He went towards the king of the giants to finish him off. When he got closer, he started to laugh; the king of the wall didn't understand.

— I... I was like you, boy. I only thought about fights, killing, destroying, and becoming the strongest, but as soon as I became the king of the giants, an emptiness came, taking my soul and consuming it. Everything that was colorful lost its color; the world became... gray. — He started coughing up blood; as soon as the cough ended, he started talking again even with a voice getting weaker. — This lasted for years. I traveled the whole world looking for fights until on this trip I killed and destroyed villages, cities, and capitals. And... and in the end, I ended up becoming one of the biggest threats to life. I continued to wander the world until I met her, the love of my life, Clara. She lit up my world that was getting grayer and grayer; she was the one who pulled me out of the darkness. I hope you have the same fate as me, even if you suffer internally, in the end, you have a happy ending.

A silence echoed, there was only the heavy breathing. The words that Cobel said didn't make sense to the king of the wall who just looked at him; he grabbed the collar of the giant king's shirt and prepared to finish him off.

— Now you are no longer the king of the wall or the giants, but now you are the nameless king.

The king of the wall raised an eyebrow.

— Yeah... even I forgot... you don't know what a... name is. — He started laughing.

The king of the wall extended his arm; with a gloomy look, he just finished him off. Letting go of Cobel's body, he looked at the horizon and for the first time realized how beautiful the world he lived in could be. His heart relaxed; he became calm, with his hands dirty with blood, cuts on his arm, and blood dripping from his head. He started walking to the forest calmly and peacefully. Upon entering the forest, Clara appeared with her daughter looking for Cobel; her daughter found her father's body.

— D-Dad?! — Upon seeing her father's body on the ground full of blood, she couldn't believe that the one on the ground was her father; she couldn't.

Clara, upon approaching and seeing her husband's body, she soon broke down and started to cry; her daughter couldn't hold back and cried for her loss.

The former king of the wall was walking through the forest; blood was running down his body. Even exhausted, he continued walking; his body was exhausted, but his mind was at peace and light.

After a long time, he found his father with a man with black hair and blue eyes. The two seemed like old friends; they talked with an impressive naturalness.

'Even with my most intimate friends that I had in my past life, I didn't reach this level. That's absurd.' Jay thought, how unlucky he is for not having had a friendship like that.

Upon seeing her father, the girl soon ran to him and hugged him, crying. Startled by what happened, he soon hugged his daughter back.

— What's wrong, honey? What happened? Weren't you with your mom? — He asked, scared that something had happened to his wife.

— I ended up getting separated from my mom.

— So let's go find her. — He said with a smile on his face to calm his daughter.

— Yes, let's. — Upon looking at her father, she soon remembered the boy who helped her find him, so she turned and looked at him. — Thank you for helping me find my dad.

Jay accepted the girl's thanks, even with a disappointment that he didn't find her mother but the girl's father. His father soon approached him.

— You did well in helping that girl. I'm proud of you, my son, congratulations. — Poul said this even though hours ago he was wanting revenge, maybe the fire of revenge had cooled a little, especially after talking to that man.

— Dad. — Jay called his father's attention.

— Yes, Jay?!

— Do academies exist in real life? — Jay asked without knowing how to ask.

Poul put his hand on his son's head. — Yes, they do.

Upon hearing this answer, he soon became excited.

— But it's not what you imagine; the academies that exist are actually factories to create soldiers, in search of the perfect soldier. — Poul looked at the sky. — All men go there, of course, I went there when I was little.

'So, one way or another, I would go to the academy. Interesting, so it will be this way that I will discover my real potential.' Jay thought, getting excited to go to the academy.

— And at what age can you enter the academy?

— Well, around 10 years old, you can enter the academy.

Upon hearing his father say "Around 10 years old, you can enter the academy." Jay became a little discouraged.

Days passed until they arrived at their destination; they were soon placed in a place for refugees. He would go out to the park and lean against a tree and read his book, while he read his father, who had enlisted to serve in the army, was training his physique.

The children looked at Jay with a look that he was strange; a girl who was playing with the children went to him; she approached Jay and called his attention. He lifted his head and saw the purple hair and soon recognized her.

— It's you, the lost girl. — Jay said, surprised.

She gave a smile.

— What's wrong? Don't tell me you got lost again?! — Jay said with a tone of concern about her interrupting his reading.

— No, do you really think I would get lost twice?!

— I don't doubt it.

She made a face. — Idiot. — She approached him and knelt down to see what he was reading. — What are you reading, idiot?

'Idiot... this girl wants to die, doesn't she? Calling me an idiot, ah, but if I wasn't known, I would hit her.' Jay made a face while thinking.

The girl started to laugh; he stares at her and flicks her on the head.

'That's it, now she's going to run to call her parents, and I'm going to get a scolding.' Jay thought with a face of a little regret, but not caring much about the situation.

— Why did you do that to my beautiful forehead? You idiot! — She says this with a crying face.

'As expected, now she's going to run to her daddy; most girls are like that, I might be in another world, but it will be the same as always.' Jay thought, convinced it would be like that.

But what he didn't expect was that instead of her going to her father as expected, she pushed Jay and started hitting him.

Jay was incredulous with himself, after all, that girl, even small, had more strength than he had in his past life. Even being beaten, he raised his hand and flicked the girl on the head, who put her hand on her forehead. Jay drops his book and puts the girl on the ground.

They started to argue. Meanwhile, Poul was training intensely; he was in a room when someone called him. Poul went in the direction of the call; upon leaving the tent, a letter was handed to him.

— Thank you for the letter.

The mailman just nodded.

Poul opened the letter and saw that it was from the army; the letter said that he was now a member of the army. He was happy, but at the same time, a strange feeling arose; he couldn't distinguish what that feeling was. A tear ran down his face.
