The air was intense around them. It felt like a massive battle was about to erupt in the middle of the dining hall in the Dome.
Lin: What....did you just say...?
Lin turned back and had a nasty look in his eyes. His ferocious eyes looked at the prey in front of him, namely David, as if he wanted to cut him to pieces. Rage filled his eyes, and fear struck David.
Max: Whoa whoa...calm down Lin!! It's okayy....
Lin stepped forward once more and it scared David. He realised that he might have hit a nail in his head, by bringing his clan to the argument.
David: Okay...I'm sorry...that was tooo far...my bad.
David immediately apologised to the enraged warrior, but it wasn't enough to quench Lin's thirst for violence. He still walked towards him.
Lin: Well....you should've thought about it BEFORE you spoke back to me!
Max stepped in between trying to calm him down. But even though he was terrified, David had a lot of ego. He wouldn't willingly run away from a fight, when he was right.
David: Look. I asked sorry man. But you never did apologise for your misbehaviour.
Lin: I didn't "misbehave". I just treated you all like the trash that you were...
Sachika: Oh hang on edge lord....you might wanna stay back in your place...
Lin: Or what lady?? You gonna dance in front of me...
Sachika: Why you-!
David now became furious with how Lin spoke to his wife.
David: If you want to disrespect me...I wouldn't care. But my wife?? Nah...
Max stepped in again, but Lin shoved him aside. But Max didn't get angry for some reason. It was Melissa that spoke next.
Melissa: What is wrong with you now, Lin?? Why are you so angry now???
Lin: I just don't like weak pathetic beings that can't put weight behind their words.
The scarred Lin stood face to face against David. David was slightly taller and they looked eye to eye. David was terrified, yet angry at the same time. He wasn't going to back down.
Lin: You want a fight?... You got it! I heard you are a martial artists anyway..
David stepped back once and then reaffirmed himself in his position.
David: I mean...I can defeat you hand to hand...but you do have weapons that I won't be able to win against.
Lin immediately dropped his blades to the ground. He removed his armour and threw it on the ground, as it fell with a klang.
Lin: What bout now??
David: Perfect!
Sachika: Dave!! Why??
David: I'm sorry, babe. But I can't let his insult towards you go away. I'm gonna have to knock some sense into him.
Lin took his battle stance and David did his. It was a normal form of wu shu kung fu that he had trained in once upon a time. Melissa and Chuck, meanwhile cleared the area and stood on the side. Chuck appeared saddened that the group wasn't getting along. And Hershel was missing.
Albert: Should we stop them? Your brother hasn't fought someone superhuman like him.
Max stood beside him. There was a reason he was calm instead of being protective.
Max: Do not underestimate my brother. Lin is stronger...but Dave is smarter. I've seen them both fight. Dave is very good at tactics.
Albert just slowly nodded his head, trying to agree with Max's reasoning. Sachika wanted them to stop, but she damn well knew that she could never stop her husband.
Lin moved first, going for a punch to the chest, and Dave tried blocking it with his right palm. He moved Lin's fist away using his palm, but realised how strong the punch was. He had to be QUICK to defeat him. He couldn't dare prolong the fight.
Lin went in, blow after blow, and Dave backtracked, blocking and pushing away each blow. He quickly realised that it was useless to just be on the defense.
David found an opening near his left, directly aiming for Lin's scarred side of his face, and almost punched him, as Lin blocked with his outer palm. This sent a shock through David's elbow, making his arm numb for a second. Lin took the chance and jumped in the air to deliver a kick to his opponent's chest. David tanked it and almost fell, but back flipped and stood on his feet.
Somewhere along this tiny battle they had quietly decided that whoever fell first on their back, would be the loser.
The next two minutes were them trying to trade blows and blocking simultaneously. I5 was a stalemate for half the time, and the other half was them taking the blows. Lin got punched in the face multiple times, and David got kicked in the chest. Soon enough the decisive blow came. And the winner was someone Max knew would win.
As Lin neared, his anger grew. His anger led him to step his right foot forward and deal a punch with his left arm. David took this chance and dodged the punch by going down and doing a helicopter kick to sweep both Lin's legs. Lin lost his balance, but halfway through his fall, he stretched his hand for a cart wheel. Instead he saw David coming in for the second kick and he kicked him on the chest. Lin flew across the room and fell on his arm and lied down, in an humiliating defeat. David won.
