Chapter 3 - Earth

"What's the matter?" Herag opened the door and saw old Henry, with a young man in heavy armor behind him.

Herag recognized him; it was Knight Emil, the captain of the castle guard.

This is a big shot in the castle, and it seems that he has something to do with me.

"Are you Hellagur?" Emil asked after looking Hellagur up and down.

"Yes, Lord Emil." Herag answered honestly.

"Deep Blue, check Emil's physical data."

"Emile: Strength 1, Agility 6, Constitution 2, Spirit 1. He has an unknown energy within him."

For the first time, Hellagur had an intuitive understanding of the knight's strength.

Although Emil's data seems to be only slightly higher than his, in actual combat it is not just a little bit higher, but an improvement in all aspects.

A slight increase in strength may result in a corresponding increase of more than ten times in combat capability, which is a completely different concept.

There is some unknown energy in Emil's body. Herag guessed that this should be the power of the knight.

If this unknown force is taken into account, the actual combat energy will be improved by an unknown amount.

"I heard you're a good archer. Show me." Emil said simply and clearly.

Old Henry gave him an encouraging look, and Herag did not hesitate and immediately went back to the house to get the longbow.

Emil looked around and pointed to a tall pine tree in the distance and said, "Can you shoot down the tallest pine cone?"

"Okay." Hellagur said confidently.

"Let's begin," said Emil.

Herag drew his longbow and turned on assisted aiming.

Now he had enough strength and the longbow was pulled fully.

After a whoosh, the pine cones in the distance fell to the ground.

Emil nodded with satisfaction. "It seems you are a natural marksman and qualified to join the Guard. Come with me to the training ground."

Helag obviously had no right to refuse, so he followed Emile obediently. Old Henry grinned happily.

The castle's training ground is a wide and flat area. It is training time now, and many guards are training.

After Emil brought Herag over, many people naturally noticed it.

However, Emile didn't dare to ask too many questions. He continued to train as usual and worked even harder.

Emil brought Hellagur to an open space. He turned and said, "Hellagur, do you know why knights are so powerful?"

Hellagur had no idea about this question either, he could only shake his head.

"Because of the breathing method." Emil said in a deep voice.

"Breathing technique?" This was the first time Hellagur heard this term.

Emil continued, "Indeed, breathing techniques allow us to develop and mobilize the hidden power within our bodies. By practicing breathing techniques day after day, not only can our bodies become stronger, but we may also be able to awaken the seed of life. Those who awaken the seed of life can be called knights."

"Then can I awaken the seed of life?" asked Herag.

"Not necessarily. Only a very few lucky people have this qualification. Most people will never be able to become a knight in their lifetime." Emile said.

He looked at Herag and continued, "You are very talented in archery. Next, I will teach you the Earth Breathing Technique. I hope you can grow up quickly and help the Baron."

"Thank you, Lord Emil, and thank you, Lord Baron." Herag pounded his chest with his right fist and performed a standard allegiance gesture. He was very good at these superficial skills.

"Well! You must remember that all this is thanks to the Baron." Emil was very satisfied with Herag's attitude.

"Deep Blue, start recording all of Emil's actions, especially those related to Earth Breathing." Herag gave the order with a thought.

"Recording has begun."

Emil began to teach the Earth Breathing Technique. He said solemnly, "Breathing is something everyone is born with. Earth Breathing has a unique breathing rhythm that allows you to generate a stream of energy within your body. This energy travels throughout your body along a specific route, slowly strengthening your muscles and bones..."

"The Earth Breathing Technique has been recorded."

After Emil finished explaining the precautions, he said, "Try it."

The Earth Breathing Method requires many strange movements and a unique breathing rhythm to practice. It is difficult for beginners to perform the movements well and it is not easy to master the breathing rhythm.

"Deep Blue, activate the Earth Breathing Technique to assist in your practice."

Deep Blue quickly presented every movement to Hellagur, and Hellagur imitated it and began to do the first movement.

"Move your right hand upwards by one centimeter, and your left hand downwards by another half a centimeter."

After Herag made the first move, Deep Blue quickly corrected his movement and gave the exact offset.

He adjusted his movements according to the instructions of the chip.

Emil was a little surprised and looked at Hellagur with admiration without saying a word.

There are a total of fifteen movements in Earth Breathing, and each movement is difficult.

With the help of the chip, Hellagur completed the entire set of movements with great difficulty. After finishing, he was completely exhausted and could hardly stand steadily.

"Effective exercise detected. Repeating this set of movements 100 times will increase Strength by 2, Agility by 5, and Constitution by 3."

"One hundred times doesn't seem like a lot." Herag felt more motivated after seeing the hint from the chip.

It is not difficult to persist in hard work, but the difficult part is not being able to see the progress bar. Herag can see immediate feedback, which makes him very motivated to practice.

Emil remained silent throughout the entire process, until Hellagur finished practicing the Earth Breathing technique, then he spoke: "You are very talented! I will keep an eye on you."

He was busy with his work, so he told Herag to keep practicing and then continued to work.

"Deep Blue, how long will it take to complete a hundred training sessions?"

"Based on my current physical condition, I can practice twice a day. After seven days of practice, my body's adaptability will improve, and I estimate I can practice six to seven times a day. It's estimated that I'll complete one hundred practices after twenty-three days."

The progress was faster than Hellagur had imagined.

After this day, Hellagur's identity also changed.

He went from being a lowly servant to a guard in the castle guard, with a monthly salary of five silver coins and a set of armor and a longsword.

The daily meals were upgraded to two meals, with one meal of meat every three days, but this was not very important to Herag, as he could get meat by hunting on his own.

Emile values him very much, and he doesn't need to perform any tasks during this period. He only needs to concentrate on practicing the Earth Breathing Technique.

Herag went hunting in the forest every day, then came back to practice earth breathing, and so on.

Twenty days later.

"The first stage of Earth Breathing has been completed. Current physical condition: Strength 6, Agility 1, Constitution 7, Spirit 2."

"You can now begin the second stage of Earth Breathing. Repeating this practice a thousand times will increase your Strength by 4, Agility by 5, and Constitution by 5."

Herag couldn't help but smile as he looked at the chip prompt. His efforts for more than half a month were finally not in vain.

He now lives a fulfilling life every day. Apart from hunting and practicing, he eats and sleeps. There is an extra course tomorrow. Emil will teach him swordsmanship.

Herag now has strong physical fitness, but lacks effective means to defend against the enemy, and his archery can only be used to fight against the enemy from a long distance.

In this era of cold weapons, close combat is more common.
