It had been fun to see Roseline and Tracy's face all through the night. In fact, all of the guests present couldn't believe what they were seeing. The rejected, penniless Robert, now dancing with literal royalty.
Robert got satisfaction from seeing their faces, maybe being with Eliana Rowe wasn't really a bad idea. She didn't seem to control him, she had been ready to leave without him when he told her he had not intended to go to the party with her.
"Young master, you have a call." Gregory said, pulling Robert from his reverie.
"Who is it?' He asked.
"It's from the hospital." Gregory answered.
Robert grabbed the phone quickly, standing on his feet.
"Robert Cruise here." He spoke into the receiver.
"Right. We are calling to inform you about your sister." The voice said.
"What about it? Did something happen to her?" He asked, his nerves jangling.
"Calm down Mr. Cruise, everything went well and your sister is out of coma." The voice replied.
Robert let out a whoosh of breath he had been holding. "So can I come see her?" He asked.
"Yes, I suppose you can. She is still weak though, and would have to be examined every so often. We have to make sure her vitals and everything is stable, a lot of patients often get fall backs even though their surgeries were successful. But you have nothing to worry about, we will make sure to keep a keen eye on her." The voice finished.
"Alright then, thank you." Robert said, even though a part of him knew that this much courtesy was shown to him because of Eliana Rowe's involvement. She really had become his ray of hope in a world that had been dark and bleak.
"I'll let the doctors know you will be coming along, and if you've got any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to put it to them. I am sure they will be happy to help."
"That would be nice, thank you." Robert said, and hung up.
"Is everything okay? What was that about?" Gregory asked, his face drawn with concern.
"Yes, the surgery was successful. They said I can come and see her now." Robert answered.
Mr. Gregory's lined face drew again, this time into a smile. "That is just fantastic news, Young Master." He said, his joy unmistakable.
"I've got you to thank," Robert started, "If you had not found me that day, I wonder how I might have gone through this. It would really have crushed me if I had lost Jenna." Robert said, his voice thickening with the emotions he tried to keep at bay.
"I just did my due diligence, Young Master. Miss Rowe is the one who really did something to be thanked for." Mr. Gregory said humbly.
"You are right, I have to put a call through to her. She really has been a timely favor but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate you Gregory." Robert said.
"It's my duty. Come on, I'll get you to the hospital. And you can give Miss Rowe a call on the way." Gregory said.
Robert stared at Gregory blankly.
"What is it, Young Master?" Gregory asked with obvious concern.
"I don't have Eliana's number." Robert admitted. He had gone out with her last night, after announcing that they were a couple 'for now', and he had not thought to get her number for once.
Gregory gave him a look that told him he thought the same thing that Robert had just done, before he reached into his breast pocket pulling out a card.
It was a beautiful card, much like the one whose name it bore.
"Eliana Rowe." Robert read out.
"Go on." Gregory urged, and Robert began to key the numbers into his phone. He pressed the call option, and held his breath as the dial tone started.
Mr. Gregory didn't seem to be bothered about what he did, he had his head straight, and his eyes focused on the road as he drove them to the hospital.
"Eliana Rowe." The silky voice came through the phone speaker.
"This is Robert, Robert Cruise." Robert introduced.
"Oh, Robert. Is everything okay?" She asked.
"Yes, yes. Better even. I just got a call from the hospital and I'm heading there right now. Jenna is out of coma, all they just need to do now is examine her." He paused, and then continued, "I just thought I'd let you know, thank you Eliana. For everything." He finished.
There was a pause on the other end before Eliana spoke, "You don't have to thank me Robert, I think we both agree it's a win-win situation." She said, and for the first time, Robert wished she wasn't so focused on bringing up the contract.
"Either way, I just thought I should let you know and say thanks too," Robert said.
"It's alright. I'm getting off work now, I'll meet you at the hospital." She said, and hung up before Robert could say anything.
Robert glanced at Gregory but his eyes were still on the road, and if he had heard all that was said, he didn't give any indication.
Few minutes later, the car pulled into the hospital and Robert got down first while Gregory found a place to park.
Robert rushed to his sister's ward, but didn't go in at first. He just looked at her through the glass panel on the door. Then pushed it open slowly, quietly, and walked in. Like he had been told on the call from earlier, she was asleep but Robert couldn't help thinking that she looked better already. Most of her color was back, and watching the steady rise and fall of her chest gave him so much relief.
There was an IV stand beside her bed where the IV bag hung, and from which something Robert thought was saline went into her body in drips.
The sound of the door opening pulled Robert's eyes away from his sister, and he turned. Gregory was holding the door open for Eliana.
"Is she okay?" She asked as soon as she came in through the door.
Robert's eyes prickled with tears when he saw Eliana, but he didn't mind it as he nodded, "She is okay, Eliana. She is okay."
