Soon, work came to an end and Emily took sheer pleasure in running back home. Luckily, she always walked home with Ginny since they shared an apartment.
She trudged up the stairs to their shared apartment, her feet aching from a long day of work. Ginny followed close behind, still buzzing with energy.
"Come on, Em, let's get ready to go out!" Ginny exclaimed, dropping her purse on the couch.
Emily collapsed onto the armchair, kicking off her shoes. "I don't know, Gin. I'm exhausted. And besides, I'm not really in the mood for a club."
Ginny pouted, her bright pink lips curling downward. "Aww, come on! It'll be fun, I promise! We haven't gone out in ages, and I need my partner in crime!"
Emily raised an eyebrow, a hint of a smile playing on her lips. "You're not going to give up, are you?"
Ginny grinned mischievously. "Never! Besides, I have the perfect outfit for you. It'll make you forget all about your exhaustion."
Emily sighed, but Ginny's enthusiasm was infectious. She watched as Ginny disappeared into her room, emerging with a slinky black dress and a pair of stilettos.
"Try it on, Em! It'll look amazing on you!"
Emily hesitated, but Ginny's persistence eventually won her over. She slipped into the dress, feeling a surge of confidence as the fabric hugged her curves.
Ginny cheered, clapping her hands together. "I knew it! You look stunning! Now, let's get ready to dance the night away!"
As they primped and preened in front of the mirror, Emily found herself getting caught up in Ginny's excitement. Maybe a night out was just what she needed to forget about the chaos of the restaurant and the mysterious young man who had left her feeling so flustered.
Ginny handed her a glass of wine, and they clinked glasses in a silent toast. "To a night we'll never forget!" Ginny exclaimed.
As they headed out into the cool night air, Emily felt a thrill of anticipation. Maybe this was exactly what she needed – a night of freedom, music, and dancing, with her best friend by her side.
The club was pulsating with energy, the beat of the music reverberating through every cell in Emily's body. Ginny dragged her onto the dance floor, and they lost themselves in the rhythm, their bodies moving in perfect sync.
As the night wore on, Emily found herself letting go of her inhibitions, her worries left behind like a shed skin. She was living in the moment, free and unencumbered.
And then, she saw him – Marcus, the mysterious young man from the restaurant, standing across the room, his eyes locked onto hers with an intensity that made her heart race.
Emily's breath caught in her throat as he began to make his way towards her, the crowd parting like a sea as he moved with purpose.
Ginny noticed her distraction and followed her gaze. "Ooh, Em, looks like your fan club is here!"
Emily's face flushed, but she couldn't tear her eyes away from Marcus's approach. What did he want? And why did she feel like her whole world was about to be turned upside?
As Marcus reached her side, the music and laughter around them faded into the background. Emily's heart raced with anticipation, her mind racing with questions.
"Hi," Marcus said, his deep voice low and husky. "I never thought I'd see you again so soon."
Emily smiled, feeling a sense of excitement wash over her. "I could say the same about you."
Emily swallowed. He wanted something from her, and she felt it deep in her bones. What she didn't understand was why a rich social man would want something from her.
She knows him. Marcus Donovan was his name. The richest CEO in town and the most eligible bachelor. What would someone like him want from a girl who graduated from college a month ago?
Ginny, sensing the palpable tension between them, excused herself with a wink. "I'll go get us some drinks, Em. You two lovebirds catch up!"
Emily's face flushed, but Marcus just chuckled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "So, Emily, what brings you here tonight?"
Emily shrugged, feeling a sense of freedom wash over her. "Just needed a night out with my friend. You know, let loose and have some fun."
Marcus nodded, his eyes never leaving hers. "I know exactly what you mean. Sometimes, you just need to let go and live in the moment."
As they talked, the music and lights around them faded into the background, leaving only the two of them, lost in their own little world.
Ginny returned with drinks, raising an eyebrow at the obvious chemistry between them. "Well, well, well. Looks like Em's got a new dance partner!"
Emily playfully rolled her eyes, but Marcus just smiled, his eyes sparkling with amusement.
As the night wore on, Emily found herself feeling more and more at ease with Marcus, their conversation flowing effortlessly from one topic to the next.
She couldn't believe how much they had in common, from their love of adventure to their passion for trying new things.
As the club began to close, Marcus turned to her, his eyes serious. "Would you like to grab some coffee with me sometime, Emily? Maybe we can continue this conversation in a quieter setting?"
Emily's heart skipped a beat as she nodded, her smile spreading from ear to ear. "I'd love to."
She bit her lower lips nervously, in deep contemplation. She had no idea why she felt like she would be in hot soup soon. Also, she doesn't have the courage to ask him how he knew her name and a few personal things about her.
She wasn't a newbie to sex. She only loves to play it cool at first, unlike Ginny who doesn't give two fucks about anyone and can have sex in a park.
But somehow, she felt he doesn't want just sex. He probably wanted something more from her.
The determination in his eyes was so much, and something told her to run from him before she falls.
