Chapter 21 - Chapter 21: Tomori: A Lifetime of Pokémon Battles!

Rillaboom is one of the Galar region's starter Pokémon and also one of Champion Leon's aces.

Among all the starters, Rillaboom is undoubtedly a T1 Pokémon. In terms of raw power, only Mega Evolved starters can suppress it. It's a powerhouse in both singles and doubles.

The strongest Grass-type starter!

Even counting Megas, it's still the strongest Grass-type starter!

According to Satoru's research, Rillaboom's rarity had shot up several tiers thanks to Leon. After all, it was the Pokémon of arguably the world's number one trainer, which would naturally attract many trainers to catch one.

Rillaboom was one thing; that certain Charizard was even more popular.

Although Satoru didn't know how Sakiko got this information, he chose to believe her without hesitation. He also had a faint understanding that working in customer service could lead to obtaining a lot of information.

Satoru: I get it. I trust you. See you tomorrow.

After they finished chatting, Satoru put down his phone, hugged his two Pokémon, and fell into a deep sleep.

"Kero~" "Rai" The Pokémon murmured in their sleep, dozing off without a care.

On the other side, Sakiko struggled to push away her sleeping Milotic. Its cool body made it difficult for her to fall asleep comfortably.

"Meeting up... is this a date?... No, what am I thinking? Satoru would never think that."

Sakiko picked up her phone with a weary expression and sighed.

She didn't think she would fall in love. Her current life circumstances made it difficult to support a relationship.

"Satoru... has he forgotten about me? That's right, it's been a long time since we've seen each other."

Sakiko lightly swiped across her phone screen, her fingertips gently touching the moments of the past. Her gaze finally rested on a photo with a soft, warm glow.

In the photo, a shy little girl, her bright eyes bashfully lowered, was trying to approach a Feebas.

Beside her, a little boy in a hat stood, his eyes full of gentleness and expectation, as if he were silently cheering her on.

"By now, he's probably forgotten all about his childhood friend."

...

Arriving at school, Satoru, as usual, closed his eyes and slumped onto his desk.

Practical skills class? Yes!

Theory class? No!

He had roughly learned many things from the textbook's content, but there was nothing particularly engaging.

The most interesting piece of knowledge was how to differentiate Dragon-types.

How could Satoru not know this?

In the Pokémon world, most Dragon-types barely looked like dragons.

For example, the famous Alolan Exeggutor, the office-building-like Duraludon, Applin, the pieced-together Galar fossil Pokémon... the list was endless. There was no need to study it.

Even when it came to abilities, there were still many in this world that were unknown.

In short, just four words.

Not as good as the Pokédex!

If only I had a Pokédex.

The thought couldn't help but cross Satoru's mind.

[If you want a Pokédex, Satoru-baby, I can do it~ Leave that job to me from now on. Please use me until I break. ?(^?^●)]

"Don't be so absurd... but thanks. Having a Pokédex from now on will make things a lot easier, especially for checking moves... Hmm, next is the team. We'll need at least six people to win the Bouffalant Cup, right..."

Satoru's mind drifted into thought.

Finding two people yesterday was indeed lucky, but Satoru still wanted to invite Takamatsu Tomori.

A friend for a lifetime of Pokémon battles—he didn't want to let that go.

More importantly, the sad look in Tomori and Piplup's eyes was hard to watch.

As he was thinking this, Satoru suddenly felt someone poking his side with a small hand. He looked up and saw Tomori, her face red, biting her lower lip as if trying to muster up her courage.

"...Satoru, can you practice with me today?"

"Pocha~"

One person and one Pokémon stared at him intently, putting immense pressure on Satoru.

"No problem. Let's try it out in today's practical skills class."

Satoru agreed quite naturally.

He was planning to find Tomori anyway, so he didn't expect her to come to him.

There was no real barrier between them. At most, it was because of Anon's hesitation that she was afraid to join the team.

But this situation only fired Satoru up even more. If she didn't want to join the team, then he would use a Pokémon battle, a communion of spirits, to mend Tomori's shattered heart.

There is no psychological trauma that a Pokémon battle cannot solve. If there is, then have another one!

That's what the straightforward Satoru believed.

...

During practical skills class, on the battlefield.

"Piplup, do you think I can beat Satoru?"

"Pocha~ Pocha? (Do you think I can beat Froakie?)"

Takamatsu Tomori and Piplup looked at each other, their gazes as cute as little animals, completely devoid of confidence.

Because she had run away the day before, Tomori wanted to formally apologize to Satoru, but she didn't know how to do it. So she decided to use a traditional Pokémon battle. After she lost, she would first thank him for the training, and then apologize for running away.

Actually, Tomori had been on a team in middle school called CRYCHIC.

For a middle school team, they were quite strong.

The five members of the team hadn't been together for long, but everyone was kind.

They even won a team tournament.

That battle was a landslide victory, but she and Piplup had fought desperately, putting a huge strain on Piplup.

Netizen:That trainer and her Piplup are trying way too hard.

The appearance of such comments made Tomori afraid of Pokémon battling.

And not long after the tournament ended, her teammate Toyokawa Sakiko stopped coming to practice. The last time they met, Sakiko had already decided to quit the team.

Tomori:If Sakiko isn't here...

Sakiko:"Don't say such selfish things to me. You and Piplup are the ones who need to practice the most, but what have you been doing until now?"

With those words, the team CRYCHIC shattered, and Tomori began to yearn for a friend for a lifetime of Pokémon battles.

The day before yesterday, Satoru had agreed without hesitation. She was really happy and didn't want to give up this chance.

"If I had used 'Haruhikage', the netizens and Sakiko wouldn't have said those things, right..."

"If I wasn't so weak, the team wouldn't have disbanded, right..."

Recalling the past, Tomori started to shut down.

But things were different now. She had another chance to form a team.

She had a friend for a lifetime of Pokémon battles.

"Tomori, I'm ready on my end."

Satoru waved to Tomori, his handsome face making her blush.

Anon was acting as a spectator this time, not participating in the practice. Feeling guilty for her words earlier, Anon also wanted to help Tomori.

On the field, Froakie broke out in a cold sweat, trying hard to control its power.

Satoru:Go easy on her. Try to have a good battle with Piplup.

Feeling the pressure, Froakie could only do its best to hold back.

Looking at Satoru from a distance, Tomori was even more unwilling to let go.

She was a person of deep emotions. If she could just prove her strength to Satoru, then she could battle Pokémon with him for a lifetime.

"Piplup... I really do want to battle Pokémon with Satoru for a lifetime."

Tomori solidified the resolve deep in her heart, and Piplup's gaze became unwavering.

"POCHA!"

As for Chihaya Anon? Not close.

Just a passerby who didn't want to battle with her for a lifetime.

"Piplup, I choose you!"

Tomori puffed out her chest, overflowing with confidence. With a wave of her hand, she displayed a heroic posture no different from Satoru's. Piplup leaped from her arms and landed steadily on the battlefield.

"Pocha, pocha!"

I will show Satoru my feelings and Piplup's!

A lifetime of Pokémon battles!

"Use Aerial Ace!"
