Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

Larissa's POV

I was left breathless and flushed. Even as he walked out of the room in a hurry. He had almost marked me!

The realization made my body feel cold. There was something about him—something about what we just did.

My wolf could not put a finger on it because we were still recovering from our rejection, but there was a pull.

Quickly, I grabbed my clothes, which were now almost dry. I put them on and ran downstairs.

"Where is my star girl going so fast?" The matron asked as I got out of the door.

"I... I..." I was panting for breath, unable to bring out real sentences.

"Do you know who you just slept with?" She asked, and I nodded.

Who wouldn't know Darrell? He was at the top of the food chain. He was the alpha's son, and everyone knew that you would never look at an omega like me.

"Listen, this was a mistake... I shouldn't have come here." I whispered and then ran out.

I returned to my house with a troubled heart, but all the troubles I felt disappeared when I saw my parents' house on fire.

My wolf flew into action, and my bones popped as I transformed and ran towards the burning house as fast as I could.

"Mum! Dad!" I yelled, moving as fast as my limbs could carry me.

But as I got closer, strong arms stopped me from jumping into the flames in search of my parents.

"Where are they? What happened?" I screamed in panic and terror.

Tears streamed down my face when the man holding me shook his head.

"I am sorry, Larissa. We couldn't save them," he whispered.

"No!" I screamed, tearing the peace of the night apart with the sorrow in my soul.

My heart burst open, and I thought I would die too.

I blamed myself a thousand times, as I thought that I could have saved them if I were home.

I could have saved them if I hadn't gone out with Peter that day.

My tears soaked my already-drying clothes as I cried helplessly for my parents.

People sympathized with me, but as soon as my parents were buried, they started mocking me.

Everyone realized that Peter had rejected me, and some even claimed I had set the house on fire myself.

I comforted myself, praying that one day everything would be fine. But that prayer never got answered.

A month after that night, I found out that I was pregnant.

"Larissa, who is the father?" The old woman who had done the test for me asked

My heart shattered. I looked down at my hands, wondering how my life had become like this. In one night, I lost my parents, my mate, and my dignity.

And now I was pregnant.

"I wouldn't have asked you if people didn't tell me they saw you at the whore house a couple of weeks ago... Is it Peter's or someone else's?"

Her words could barely sink into my brain, as I was already asking myself the same question. I had slept with Peter the night before I slept with Darrell.

One of them was the father, but none of them would take it.

"It doesn't matter," I whispered as I pulled on my coat and walked out of her office.

Little, did I know that she spread the news to everyone? I became a laughing stock. People pointed fingers at me wherever I walked. I became known as the silly omega who got impregnated at the whore house.

Ashamed and humiliated, I packed my bags one night and ran as far away from our pack as I could.

I needed to start a new life. I needed to be in a place where my child would be loved and cherished by people who genuinely cared.

The goddess being on my side, I found a small pack just a few kilometers from mine. They accepted me with open arms, and a small hut was given to me.

I started doing menial jobs and saving money for when I delivered.

My due date finally came, and I gave birth to twin boys.

"They are so beautiful!" the midwife exclaimed as she held them to me.

I smiled and took my babies from her, despite the pain I was still feeling in my core. As I looked at them, their bright blue eyes immediately reminded me of Darrell.

They were Darrell's sons.

The realization made me happy and worried at the same time. Now that Darrell was the Alpha, I heard rumors that he had been searching for a woman who would make him happy. He had no heir, and chances were that if he found out about my babies, he would take them from me.

No alpha would want his babies to be bred by an omega.

The smart thing to do would be to keep my children as far away from him as possible.

My life resumed again, and my boys started growing. I made sure to keep them away from other wolves because anyone who saw them wouldn't take long to notice the resemblance.

As they grew older, they looked more and more like Darrell, and hiding them became harder, but I was determined and relentless.

I worked harder in the markets, trying to get enough money to move away from our current location.

But one day, I was helping around in the market as I usually did when the royal trumpet sounded. Everyone moved away from the road.

I looked up to see who it was, and my heart froze when I saw the emblem of my old pack. Darrell was here.

Quickly, I covered my hair with my hoodie and tried to move out of the place, but people came from the other direction, rushing to see the Alpha King.

I struggled, pushing and shoving people away from my path, when I felt a strong hand on my arm.

Tingles spread throughout my body, and blood drained from my face. My heart already knew who it was, but I feared to confirm it.

"Larissa?"

His smooth voice cut through me, and I knew I was doomed.
