Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: A Strange World

Earth… the three-dimensional world where humans live.

On a quiet night, some people were living their usual, ordinary lives.

In a certain neighborhood…

Inside a rented apartment…

"Ah…" A young man lay sprawled on the couch, looking depressed. His face was flushed with drunkenness as he stared at the ceiling. His left hand covered his forehead, as if trying to drown his sorrows in alcohol. He kept muttering to himself, "This damn world is so boring… whether it's school or playing on the computer, is there really no more exciting world out there? This place just doesn't feel right for me at all…"

Thinking back on all his past experiences and memories, the young man looked weary and a bit worn down. In today's economy, money was everything—whether it was dating or trying to do something for himself, if he didn't have value or profit to offer, there was nothing to talk about. In such circumstances, there was always a certain group of people—those looked down upon by the so-called "noble" members of society…

But even among them, there were sacrifices. The young man was just one of them. Though he was only nineteen, his experiences weren't much different from the battle record of that red-haired basketball monkey from a certain manga.

The young man sat up again, his drunken eyes gazing out at the starry sky, his mind wandering far away. His slightly blurred vision swept over the dark scenery. He walked to the window, and a cold breeze lifted his long bangs, sobering him up a little.

Just then, a streak of light flashed across the sky. The young man frowned slightly, then let out a small laugh. "A shooting star? Heh… I don't even know who started saying they can make wishes come true. Kids' stuff… and people still believe it." He hiccupped a couple of times, glancing into the distance with a half-thoughtful look.

"Whoosh—"

Another gust of cold wind made his face look a bit pale, and his mind a little clearer. He opened his light golden eyes wide and stared at the starry sky, thinking, If wishes really can come true, then I hope you can change this world. He didn't care that he had just mocked the idea; instead, he started praying for it.

As soon as he made the wish, he shook his head and muttered to himself, "Tch… drinking until I lose my senses—what a mess. Forget it, time to sleep. Like a wish like that would ever come true." He lay back down on the couch and quickly fell asleep, unconcerned about catching a cold in the dark of the night.

"Eh, the little prince is born!"

"King Vegeta, about the name for this prince…"

"What's his battle power?"

"Well… it's 300 points lower than the first prince when he was born, but much higher than the second prince."

"Hmph. Not bad. Name him Betkas."

"Congratulations, King Vegeta!"

As a man with a regal and imposing air, wearing a cape, spoke with his subordinate beside a certain machine holding a child, the sleeping baby suddenly opened his small eyes, looking around in silence.

With a blank expression, the baby mumbled, "Where the hell is this now?" But the sounds he made were incomprehensible—just baby noises to others.

"The prince is awake," the subordinate said quickly. But the caped, imposing man didn't move at all. He simply said coldly, "Leave him there. Once he reaches the right age, start training him. If his personality isn't suitable, throw him onto a trash planet—just like Tabul."

"Understood, King Vegeta!" the subordinate replied with a smile, his scouter over one eye flashing faintly.

"Vegeta? King?"

The baby froze at the strange language. He could more or less guess anime character names when he heard them, but this speech was frustrating—hard to fully understand. He caught some parts, but it was exhausting. Before long, he closed his eyes and fell back asleep.

---

A few days later…

The baby named Betkas woke up again. His small eyes darted around curiously. Still this damn place, he thought.

Betkas was helpless. In his previous life, he had just been an average young man on Earth, drinking to drown his sorrows after some relationship trouble. Then, standing by the window in the cold night air, he had seen a shooting star and—without thinking—made a wish to change the world. He never expected the world to change for real… much less so completely. Now he had been reborn as a baby in some strange place.

And what a rotten place it was. He couldn't understand more than a few words, and even then, only barely. Sure, people talked about "isekai" and reincarnation being popular these days, but he never thought it would happen to him—and now he didn't even know where the hell he was. No maids, no gentle caretakers—just a bunch of big guys passing him around and fiddling with some glass-like device while staring at him, which annoyed him to no end.

Sure, he knew he was handsome, but he didn't think he was so irresistible that even men would be enchanted by him. All he wanted now was to grow up quickly, just so he wouldn't have to be held by men all the time.

The one thing Betkas was satisfied with was that he still had his pale yellow hair and light golden eyes from his previous life—making him stand out in a race full of black-haired people. If it weren't for his high status, he might have been treated as an outcast and eliminated, because this place was no charity.

Meanwhile, no one noticed that faint, invisible wisps of gas were drifting around the baby, as if guarding something. After circling him for dozens of minutes, the gas suddenly entered his body and then disappeared into silence.

At that moment, the baby's skin looked slightly pale, but he didn't notice anything—nor did anyone else realize the gas had ever been there.
