Chapter 14 - Giant Killer

"Focus fire on the lictor without a shield first!"

A large volley of bolter rounds poured out, surging towards the unshielded lictor. Faced with all manner of monsters and demons across the galaxy, the Imperium of Man's usual response was to escalate firepower. As expected, under the fierce assault of numerous bolter rounds, the lictor's mind power obstruction gradually faltered. The bolter rounds, initially suspended in mid-air, slowly began to move towards one of the lictors. However, having lost most of their kinetic energy, these rounds, relying solely on the power generated by their explosions, found it difficult to injure the agile lictor. For a short while, Marcus and his group couldn't find an effective way to deal with the two lictors, helplessly forced to continuously evade their mind power attacks.

On the platform, many mechanical facilities, and even one of the antennas, had been melted into molten metal by the lictors' psychic assaults. If the two lictors continued their rampage, the plan to restart the orbital cannon would likely fail. Marcus knew he couldn't expect Titus and his two companions to suddenly display unrealistic combat prowess, like inexplicably shooting down the lictors with two bursts of bolter fire and then smashing them with their bare hands, unless the God-Emperor truly manifested.

Muttering a curse, Marcus dodged and found a hidden corner, out of sight of Titus and his two companions. He then opened his system panel and chose to activate the lictor illustration he had previously obtained. Upon confirmation, the lictor card on the system panel transformed into a white light, leaping out and quickly solidifying into form. Looking at the lictor he had summoned, Marcus could clearly feel a close connection between himself and the creature, allowing him to directly issue commands telepathically.

Without time to study it further, Marcus immediately issued a command to his summoned lictor. Under Marcus's direction, the lictor left its original position and moved to the lower edge of the platform, choosing a spot where Titus and his two companions couldn't see it, but where it could still attack the other two hostile lictors. Immediately after, an invisible, powerful surge of mind power erupted towards the two enemy lictors.

Above the platform, the two lictors, who had been arrogantly spewing mind power orbs and wantonly destroying everything, instantly froze in place. Even the mind power shields on their bodies flickered and disappeared. Furthermore, the mind power stasis fields that had originally surrounded the two lictors were significantly weakened. Seeing this, Marcus immediately broke cover and swiftly used his mind power to control the red ork bayonet, driving it at extreme speed towards the fragile eye of one of the lictors. Without the obstruction of psychic power, the ork bayonet cleanly pierced the lictor's eyeball, then drilled deeper, beginning to cause internal destruction.

In addition to the ork bayonet, the meltagun that Marcus had always carried with him also flew quickly to the lictor's side under the control of mind power. The trigger was pulled, and a super-hot plasma torrent sprayed out, hitting the lictor's body at extremely close range. Flesh and blood could not resist the terrifying meltagun torrent. In less than half a second, the lictor's body melted into a puddle of still-steaming flesh and blood residue.

As for the other lictor, it was seized upon by Titus and his two companions and struck down by a concentrated bolter barrage. Titus then directly broke off its claws and plunged them into its brain, eliminating it. Seeing that the situation was decided, Marcus immediately recalled the lictor he had summoned, ensuring it wasn't discovered by Titus and his companions.

"The orbital cannon is ready! Use the terminal to aim!" Major Sarkaana's voice crackled through the communicator.

At this moment, the four giant plasma orbital cannons in the base facility had all been fully charged. Their massive barrels shone brightly, with blue plasma arcs occasionally flickering around them, emitting an extremely dangerous aura. Upon hearing Major Sarkaana's words, Marcus darted to the firing terminal. After glancing at the faintly visible hive ship in the atmosphere, Marcus forcefully slammed the red button on the firing terminal.

As the massive cannons slowly adjusted their muzzles and elevation, after more than ten seconds, all four giant plasma orbital cannons had aimed at the hive ship in the atmosphere. "Let's see those xenos ships burn!"

As soon as the words fell, four giant plasma energy clusters surged from the muzzles of the four orbital cannons, flying towards the hive ship at an extremely fast speed. Along the way, countless Night Lords caught in their path were completely melted away. Ten seconds later, the four giant plasma energy clusters successively struck their target.

The first plasma cluster destroyed tens of meters of the hive ship's thick outer chitin armor. The second plasma cluster tore through the hive ship's giant muscle clusters located beneath the chitin armor. The third plasma cluster hit the very front of the hive ship, annihilating its pair of pointed horns and tendril clusters. The fourth plasma cluster penetrated the entire abdomen of the hive ship, blasting a hole straight through it, large enough for a frigate to pass through. Undoubtedly, after four giant plasma energy clusters, even the thick-skinned hive ship fell under the Imperium of Man's magnificent weapon.

At the same time, Marcus also received new information from the system panel:

"Detected: Host has completed Mission Objective 3"

"Performing Mission Judgment"

"Judgment Passed, Issuing Mission Reward"

"Obtained: Random Draw Chance × 1"

"Obtained: Title 'Giant Killer'"

"Title Effect: Slightly increases damage against various giant creatures (minimum judged size is 30M), giant creatures have a small chance to trigger a fear effect when facing you, then flee or give up resistance"

"Detected: Host has completed Stage One Main Mission Objective"

"Performing Mission Judgment"

"Judgment Result: Excellent"

"Obtained: Random Draw Chance × 1"

"Initiating Stage Two Main Mission"

"Issuing Stage Two Main Mission: Recover psychic disaster energy source Shards"

"Mission Objective 1: Kill a Thousand Sons Red S orcerers, obtain Draw Chance × 1, obtain Title 'Thousand Sons Killer'"

"Mission Objective 2: Kill a low-tier sorcerer, obtain Draw Chance × 1, obtain Title 'Sorcerer Killer'"

"Mission Objective 3: Successfully recover psychic disaster energy source Shards, obtain Draw Chance × 1, obtain Title 'Chaos Power'"

A series of system prompts appeared on the panel, containing a massive amount of information. However, Marcus was not in a hurry to check the system panel at this moment; instead, he focused his attention on the Tyranids on the ground. After the destruction of the hive ship, the Tyranids on the ground, which had been surging like a tide towards the orbital cannon base facility, immediately halted their advance and fell into a state of chaos. Not only that, after destroying the hive ship, the four giant plasma orbital cannons slowly began to lower their elevation, aiming their massive muzzles at the densely packed Tyranids below. Then, they began to unleash the wrath of the Omnissiah.
