"Titus, I heard about your accident at Kadaku, and it worried me greatly."
In a massive room, an Adeptus Mechanicus Magos, clad in red robes, stood within a complex machine suspended from the ceiling. Beside him were dozens of screens continuously flickering with green data streams. Marcus recognized the individual at a glance: it was Magos Galio, responsible for equipping players in the original game.
"It was just for a moment, likely due to the Primaris upgrade surgery; there's no need to worry too much, Magos Galio."
"That Executioner caused extremely severe damage to multiple of your major organs, and you underwent Primaris surgery in that state." Speaking of which, Magos Galio scanned Titus from head to toe, then slowly lowered the complex machine. "To complete the surgery, we had to cut you open from head to toe. If any errors were undiscovered during the procedure, it could very well threaten your life."
After Galio finished speaking, Chairon chimed in, "Lieutenant, we cannot go through that situation again. The battle situation on Avarax is likely to be even worse than Kadaku."
"We cannot afford such a risk," Gadriel briefly added from the side.
Seeing that both Chairon and Gadriel had spoken, Titus nodded slightly, a hint of helplessness in his expression, and then agreed to Galio's request for a comprehensive examination.
"The Apothecaries are busy recovering gene-seed from the battlefield and treating the wounded, so they might not have time to conduct a comprehensive examination on you, but they have granted me authorization." With that, Galio led everyone to a surgical table.
"Lie down. The examination might take some time, but I will complete it before the fleet reaches Avarax."
Several Chapter serfs immediately stepped forward and began to work together to remove the heavy Mark X power armor from Titus. The power armor worn by an Astartes is not merely worn on the body. The final procedure in Astartes modification—the Black Carapace—serves to directly connect the Astartes' nervous system to the power armor. This transforms the power armor into the Astartes' second skin, allowing them to move without any feeling of clumsiness. However, because of this, it took some time for the Chapter serfs to complete the un-armoring process.
Once the power armor was completely removed, Titus's explosively muscular physique, which could be described as defying biological laws, was revealed. Older generation Astartes, when fully armored, stood around 2.3 meters tall. After being upgraded with Archmagos Cawl's Primaris surgery, a Primaris Astartes in armor can reach over three meters in height. Even without power armor, his height is still around 2.7 meters. Coupled with the Astartes' explosive muscles, and the black power armor connection points and countless hideous scars distributed across his body, it creates an extremely impactful visual shock.
After Titus lay down on the surgical table, Galio manipulated the mechanical arms of his complex, massive machine and began the preparations for the examination. Due to the Astartes' incredibly powerful metabolism and toxin resistance, ordinary anesthetics have no effect on them whatsoever. Only the Adeptus Mechanicus's specially formulated anesthetics can ensure the Astartes is safely anesthetized. As the special anesthetic was injected, Titus slowly fell into a deep sleep.
Subsequently, Galio manipulated the mechanical arms to pull out a variety of crude tools, giving off an air of intending to disembowel Titus. Marcus, seeing this scene, could only inwardly grumble: Alright, this is very much the style of the Imperium of Man.
Because the Adeptus Mechanicus, especially its senior members, have multi-threaded processors in their brains, they are capable of handling many different tasks simultaneously. So, while Galio was conducting various examinations on Titus, he also split his attention to speak to the others present:
"You should be going to Avarax for a mission, right? The armory is right next door; you can pick out some handy weapons and equipment for yourselves."
After Galio finished speaking, Chairon and Gadriel walked towards the armory and began selecting suitable weapons. Chainswords, combat knives, power swords, heavy bolter pistols, bolter rifles, bolter carbines, plasma incinerators, and so on and so forth… From melee weapons to sidearms and primary weapons, everything was available. The luxuriousness made even Marcus feel a bit envious.
Just then, Galio glanced at Marcus, who was standing to the side.
"Merek, go retrieve Lieutenant Marcus Aurelius' weapons."
After Galio spoke, a human serf nearby immediately walked to a location in the room and brought back the weapons and equipment that Marcus had previously had confiscated: carapace armor, a plasma pistol, and several combat knives. It's worth mentioning that the red orc choppa was not among them. Before these items were confiscated, Marcus had already placed it in his system inventory.
To be honest, seeing these items, and then comparing them to the weapons and equipment an Astartes could use, Marcus immediately felt a sense of disdain. He had the idea of wanting to replace his weapons and equipment. However, Marcus knew that Acheran did not yet trust him and would not proactively issue him better weapons and equipment. So, he had to exercise his own initiative. Perhaps Galio in front of him would be a good trade partner.
As soon as he thought of this, Marcus immediately recalled the plasma cutter in his system inventory. Perhaps he could use this item to trade for some better weapons and equipment with him.
While Galio was focused on examining Titus's body, Marcus went to a secluded corner of the room, and when no one was looking, he retrieved the plasma cutter from his system inventory. Subsequently, Marcus, holding the plasma cutter, approached Galio.
Galio noticed Marcus approaching, turned to look at him, but his hands continued to operate the mechanical arms without stopping. With just a glance, Galio noticed the plasma cutter in Marcus's hand. As a Sage of the Adeptus Mechanicus, he might not recognize all the weapons and equipment used by the Imperium of Man, but he certainly recognized eighty to ninety percent of them. However, the plasma cutter from the Dead Space universe was unlike any common weapon or equipment manufactured and used by the Imperium of Man. And its style was also vastly different. If one were to say that the various weapons used by the Imperium of Man followed a rugged, brute-force style, then the plasma cutter followed a heavy industrial machinery style.
Seeing Galio's gaze, Marcus knew that this trade was highly likely to succeed.
