Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: Three-Eyed Star

In the North Galaxy's Pana Star Cluster, there was a planet three times the size of Earth yet remarkably similar in environment. The only difference three moons orbited it.

Its star, however, was nearing the end of its life. It burned a dim crimson, with massive sunspots erupting violently across its surface.

At the center of the planet, in a palace that pierced the clouds

"My King, I suggest we contact the Frieza Force and purchase a planet suitable for our survival!"

"Nonsense! The Frieza Force's brutality is known across the galaxy. Forget buying from them, if they so much as learned of our existence, they'd attack immediately!"

"Right Chancellor, while the Frieza Force is infamous for cruelty, their reputation for business is still solid. Selling planets is their trade. They wouldn't ruin their own credibility, would they?"

"Left Chancellor, you're mistaken. From what I know, many races facing planetary ice ages bought worlds from the Frieza Force only to have them conquered again soon after. Genocide followed. Everyone knows where your sympathies lie." The Right Chancellor's voice rose sharply.

Ministers divided into two factions, voices clashing in a storm of arguments.

"Enough! All of you, silence!" The man seated on the throne waved a hand, voice cutting through the noise. "Our star will not die for another ten years. We will revisit this matter later. Left and Right Chancellors, stay. Everyone else dismissed!"

"Yes, my King!"

The court emptied until only the King and the two Chancellors remained.

A closer look revealed that this race was nearly identical to humans except for a third eye in the middle of their foreheads.

"I, King of the Three-Eyed Divine Race, descendant of the gods, rule over a civilization with over ten thousand years of history. A dying star will not destroy us so easily. Left Chancellor, you will attempt discreet contact with the Frieza Force. If there's any chance of negotiation, take it but if things turn hostile, you must die before revealing our location. Right Chancellor, you will travel across the continents, gather our scattered people, warn them of the star's impending death, and then lead them by ship in search of a new homeworld."

"By your command!"

This, perhaps, was the middle path two strategies at once.

The King of the Three-Eyed People, known as the Three-Eyed King, was their ruler and clan leader. Like the Namekians, they lived in seclusion but unlike Namekians, they reproduced far more rapidly. Being mammalian in nature and with the advantages of their homeworld, their population exceeded that of Earth, numbering around eight billion.

The Three-Eyed Race was also innately powerful in combat. Even newborns possessed battle power in the hundreds. Exceptional adults could reach over ten thousand, while the weaker ones still had several thousand.

The King himself commanded a staggering hundreds of thousands in battle power.

In Age 737, when Frieza officially succeeded his father King Cold and rebranded the Cold Force into the Frieza Force, he also destroyed Planet Vegeta. That same year, the Three-Eyed King used his people's unique ability the power to glimpse fragments of the future to foresee part of what was coming.

Realizing the danger, he sealed their borders and cut off all contact with alien civilizations. Thanks to that decision, their people survived in peace for over twenty years.

Now it was Age 757 Son Gohan had been born. Soon it would be Age 760… and the Three-Eyed Star's crisis had arrived. Not from war but because their sun, the very source of their life, was reaching its end.

At this moment, Son Gohan appeared on the Three-Eyed Star via Instant Transmission.

Why? Because of Pillie Steel.

After asking King Kai about it, he learned that Pillie Steel could only form inside a star in its terminal stage when the core cooled and collapsed. Using the Seventh Universe's star chart in his mind, he located such a star… and chose the Three-Eyed Star. He even made sure to appear in an uninhabited area.

"This sun… judging by its state, it'll take at least another decade to collapse completely. Am I supposed to just wait here for ten years?" Gohan muttered as he stared upward.

Moments later, an idea struck him he could speed things up by destroying it himself.

But he wasn't a madman. One glance at the planet told him it was inhabited. Destroying the sun outright would doom an entire civilization.

So he spread out his senses, seeking the planet's strongest warrior.

"Not bad… battle power in the hundreds of thousands, and plenty with over a thousand some even past ten thousand. This is a race with impressive potential. Strange I never heard of them in my past life… Seems the Dragon Ball universe still hides many unknowns."

In an instant, Gohan appeared before the Three-Eyed King.

The King sat alone on his throne, brows furrowed.

"Will the Three-Eyed Race truly perish under my reign?"

"Perhaps… I can help you."

The voice came from nowhere.

Snapping from his thoughts, the King's third eye locked on the intruder.

"Who are you?" he demanded, radiating royal authority.

"I came to see if your people are worth saving," Gohan replied coolly.

"Arrogant! The fate of my race is not yours to decide!"

With a roar, the King rose, unleashing a fierce orange aura. Gohan's senses read his power around eight hundred thousand.

"Impressive. In the North Galaxy, you'd be considered a powerhouse."

"State your identity, or I will strike!"

BOOM!

Gohan unleashed his full base form power five million. The King was hurled back into his throne instantly.

Alarms blared throughout the palace. Guards and elders rushed in, including the Left and Right Chancellors who had barely stepped outside.

"Protect the King!"

The palace doors burst open, warriors pouring in and charging their attacks.

"Stand down! None of you are his match!" the King barked.

"Tianmu King?" the eldest elder asked, puzzled.

In every generation, the Three-Eyed King bore a unique royal title. This one's was Tianmu.

"Elder, order everyone to withdraw. You and the Chancellors stay."

The alarms ceased.

"Smart," Gohan said approvingly.

Once the others left, the King addressed him evenly.

"Mighty stranger, you carry no malice but if you intend harm to my people, we will fight to the last."

Gohan clapped slowly.

"Heh… worthy of a king indeed."

The Chancellors flanked their ruler. The Elder stood at his side.

"Will you speak to me from on high like this?" Gohan asked.

"Someone, bring him a seat."

"No need."

Gohan floated into the air, rising slightly above the King, and sat cross-legged midair.
