"Oh? You're sure you want to test me like this?"
Standing in front of special testing equipment, wearing nothing but a pair of underwear, Saitama looked at Betty innocently.
Her beautiful face was flushed red.
But more than embarrassment, the shock in this biologist's heart overshadowed everything else.
It was like Columbus discovering the New World.
Betty was utterly astounded. The test data she got from Saitama—if she hadn't seen it with her own eyes—she would never believe such a terrifying existence was possible.
"Gulp…"
She swallowed hard, her delicate hand trembling slightly as she held the results.
Her eyes looked at Saitama as if he were a monster.
"According to the basic tests… your neural reaction speed is… 782 times the human theoretical limit. Muscle strength… more than 50 times stronger than the hardest titanium steel. Cellular activity…"
A long string of data.
If she hadn't repeated the tests seven or eight times, Betty would've thought the machine was broken.
"In short, Saitama… do you realize? You're basically a superhuman! You've broken every known biological limit! You could even be called… a god—something science can't explain!"
Her eyes shone brightly as she hugged Saitama tightly in excitement. Right now, she couldn't care less about gamma rays or nanotechnology—she only wanted to uncover the secrets in front of her.
With a true superhuman at her side, it felt like the entire world combined couldn't outweigh this one man.
This was pure scientific obsession—but she didn't notice the faint feelings for Saitama creeping into her heart.
"So… are we done with the test now?"
Saitama scratched his head. He never understood why even the Hero Association's tests only required underwear. Was there some way to cheat with it or something?
"Mm, we're done."
"Then can you… let go of me now?"
"Ah?!"
Betty jumped back as if burned by a hot iron. She'd gotten too excited and forgotten she was holding him so tightly.
Her face turned as red as a boiled lobster.
But…
Looking at Saitama's perfect abs, paired with those calm, unshaken eyes…
Her heart felt like it might leap out of her chest.
What was happening to her?
Wasn't she supposed to like Bruce Banner? Why…?
"Saitama… can—can you stay with me a little longer? I mean… I hope—"
She fumbled over her words, her face switching between red and pale. She felt like she had discovered a new scientific continent, but needed more time—and specialized instruments—for further research.
"Shh… it's late. We've got a visitor."
Saitama put a finger to his lips and gently pushed Betty behind him.
She was tense, but behind him, she felt a strange sense of safety—even a reluctant comfort.
Still in his underwear, Saitama stepped outside.
After all, the guest arrived too quickly, and changing into his hero suit would take too long. Back when he chased Mosquito Girl, he didn't even bother with underwear—that sight was better left unremembered.
This was… a big improvement.
The night sky was pitch-black.
Thick clouds blotted out the moonlight, leaving only faint outlines in the dark.
Betty clung tightly to Saitama's hand, her flashlight sweeping the outside.
The twisted, dry branches of an old tree looked eerie in the darkness. Somewhere out there… heavy breathing could be heard.
The beam landed on something.
Betty gasped and clamped a hand over her mouth. Standing before her was a massive green giant, nearly three meters tall, muscles bulging—The Hulk!
He looked at her with confusion…
But when his gaze shifted to Saitama—standing there in nothing but underwear—
A surge of fury erupted from Bruce Banner, the Hulk.
"ROAR—!"
His deafening bellow echoed like an enraged gorilla pounding its chest. The sound boomed like war drums as he tore a nearby tree to splinters with one pull.
"Ah—!"
Betty cried out in fear. This green monster felt familiar, but she couldn't quite place him. Shock and terror left her curled up behind Saitama like a frightened bird.
"ROAR ROAR ROAR—!"
Hulk's rage quickly drew more growls from the darkness nearby.
In the faint moonlight, three massive, muscular mutant dogs emerged.
The poodle from earlier in the day, and two vicious bulldogs.
With jagged fangs and muscles layered like armor, they were terrifying to behold.
"You should head back inside. I'll handle this. Looks like tonight's guests are quite lively."
Saitama casually dug at his ear as he spoke.
"But… what about you?"
Betty's palms were sweating as she gripped his hand tightly.
"Me? I'm having dog meat hotpot tonight."
