Chapter 696 - Chapter 696

Hawkeye had already fired away half his quiver, but his arrows could barely do any damage to the newly appeared giant monsters. "Where's the exit?! The way we came—looks like it's blocked!"

Doctor Strange tried to cast a portal, but the surrounding energy was in complete chaos. The spatial structure was so fragile that the magic light flickered a few times and then failed. "Space is locked down! If I force a teleport, I might throw all of us into an unknown dimension—or even into a spatial rift!"

Saitama lowered his head and looked at the cube in his hand, still releasing dark energy like the source of an endless disaster. Then he looked at the monster tide swarming in from all sides—every single one radiating an alarming threat—and at the cave that was continuing to collapse. For the first time, a faint crease formed between his brows.

"This thing," he raised the cube, "kinda caused trouble."

He wasn't afraid. But he knew very clearly that the teammates beside him couldn't survive long in this kind of environment.

They had to break out immediately! Otherwise, everyone would be swallowed completely by this endless darkness and the monsters!

"Follow me!" Saitama's voice remained crystal clear even amid the deafening monster roars and the thunderous collapse of stone. Without the slightest hesitation, he stuffed the cube—still leaking ominous black light—straight into the pocket of his ordinary-looking hero suit.

Astonishingly, the moment the cube entered his pocket, its overflowing energy seemed to be forcibly suppressed by some power. A faint glow still seeped out, but it no longer erupted as wildly as before.

But that didn't stop the monsters that had already poured out, and it didn't stop the space from falling apart.

Saitama once again took the role of the spearhead. He chose a direction where there were slightly fewer monsters and charged. His fists became the most effective tool for clearing a path—anything in his way, no matter the size, was blasted aside and shattered by pure force. With one punch, he blew apart a rhino-like monster as tough as an armored tank, sending its remains crashing into several smaller monsters behind it.

"Keep up! Move!" Captain America directed the team, his shield constantly batting away flying rubble and scattered long-range attacks. The group stayed tight behind Saitama, sprinting forward through the brief passage he'd carved out by brute force.

But the situation was horrific. The chaos of dark energy severely disrupted everyone's sense of direction. The cave's structure was also subtly shifting nonstop. Before long, they were completely lost—unable to tell where the way back even was.

Even worse, the monsters surging from the spatial rift were endless—and terrifyingly powerful.

A pounce. A grab. A blast of energy.

Any one of them could be fatal. The team had to maintain maximum combat readiness and vigilance every second.

"I'm trying to find a direction where the energy flow is relatively weaker—that might be the exit!" Doctor Strange said while running, hands still casting as he sensed the violent energy turbulence around them. Fine beads of sweat covered his forehead.

"I'll scout ahead!" Spider-Man used his agility and spider-sense, trying to search for possible routes along the ceiling. He kept firing webs, swinging and leaping between collapsing boulders, his sharp eyes sweeping every crack and opening that might lead somewhere.

Suddenly—just as Peter swung over a relatively open area—the huge shadow below, which had looked like ordinary rock, violently squirmed!

A massive dark octopus tentacle—over three meters thick, covered in suckers and slime, ending in a horrifying beak-like maw—burst up from the ground and whipped toward the airborne Spider-Man with lightning speed!
