Chapter 709 - Chapter 709

With a casual grasp, several Dark Believers who were in the middle of chanting suddenly realized that what they were producing was no longer venomous curses—but ridiculous frog croaks. With a sweep of her other hand, the gravity in an entire area spiked violently, crushing every Dark Believer there flat to the ground as their bones let out overloaded groans. She even tried to directly warp the dark summoning array itself. Although the formation's power was so immense it couldn't be easily rewritten, her strength was enough to noticeably slow its rotation. The dark-red substance in the grooves began to boil violently, as if the whole structure was turning unstable.

Hawkeye swapped through various specialized arrows: blinding flash arrows that wiped out the enemy's vision, high-frequency vibration arrows that interrupted casting chants, and sticky foam arrows that restricted movement. Spider-Man used his webbing to weave a massive obstacle net above the plaza, constantly dragging enemy spells off-course—or directly hoisting isolated targets into the air and swinging them down into their own allies.

The balance of the battle began tilting fast.

The Dark Believers' leader let out an unwilling roar. He gambled everything, stabbing his obsidian staff viciously into the ground and reciting an extremely awkward, blasphemous incantation—trying to force the final step of the summoning by offering up his own life and soul as the price.

At the point where the staff was planted, the ground split open. A nauseating, horrific presence—like it came from the deepest bottom of the abyss—began to seep out.

"Don't you dare!" Strange and Wanda shouted at the same time.

Strange slammed his palms together. The Eye Of Agamotto snapped open, flooding the entire plaza with brilliant green light. Time itself twisted and reversed in that instant. The cracked earth slowly sealed back together under the glow, and the terrifying presence that was about to spill out was forcibly pressed back down!

Wanda aimed both hands at the dark leader. Surging chaos magic crashed forward like a tangible crimson tsunami, completely drowning his body—and forcibly tearing away and severing his connection to the staff and the magic array!

"No——!" he screamed in despair. His body rapidly decomposed and scattered within the chaos magic, and the obsidian staff shattered with a sharp crack into countless fragments.

The leader's death became the final straw. The remaining Dark Believers' morale collapsed, and they were quickly wiped out under the Avengers' combined assault.

At last, the circular plaza returned to silence. All that remained was the summoning array—its rotation slowing to a stop, its glow steadily fading—along with the wreckage littering the ground.

"Haa… finally done," Peter panted, slumping onto the floor.

Strange and Wanda carefully examined the magic circle. Only after confirming its core structure had been damaged and its energy was dispersing—no longer a threat—did they finally let out a breath.

As everyone relaxed slightly and began cleaning up the battlefield, Wanda's eyes were drawn to a peculiar Dark Believer corpse. Compared to the others, this one's robe material looked higher-grade, and there was a black metal cylindrical container hanging at his waist.

Wanda carefully lifted it with magic and opened the lid.

Inside was an ancient map, made from some kind of tanned hide no one could identify.

"Doctor—come look at this," Wanda said, handing it to Strange.

Strange took the map and examined it closely. It depicted a warped outline of the world, with several special points of light marked on it. Beside them were annotations written in ancient magical script.

Strange's expression turned heavy again.
