Chapter 3 - First Impressions

Sapphire P.O.V.

I spent the rest of my vacation lounging around my house as I had nowhere in particular that I wanted to go, and Bethany is to busy with work to take time off and I don't want to travel by myself. I'm also not inclined to go to my parents' house as I'm not close with my parents after that incident that happened a few years ago. The last time I visited then was during Christmas last year. So, I stayed at my new house and relaxed while doing nothing as I know I will be busy when I start work.

Before I knew it my vacation flew by, and I had to start my first day at my new job. I woke up extra early this morning to get ready and dress presentably. I wore light make up just enough to cover my flaws and look presentable. My blouse was white and my pencil skirt black and it was just above my knees. I look at the floor to ceiling mirror in my room and was content with my outfit, so I went to the kitchen to have some breakfast.

Once I finish my breakfast I grab my purse, keys, and work bag and went through the front door locking it before I got into my car. The closer I get to the office the more nervous I became because the company I am working for now is a major tech company that it is leading the way for internet security, and it was founded by a man by the name of Ricardo Giovanni.

I have search on the internet that he is very young at only 32 years old, and his company is already one of the most influential in the world. It took him just 12 years to build up his company to where it is right now. That makes me think that he is a very strict person that will take no nonsense and expects perfection from the people around him. So, I am scared I am going to make a mistake today and give my boss a bad impression of me.

I shook out all the negative thoughts that were in my head and focused on driving to my destination. I arrived at the office 15 minutes early. Parked the car at the employee's parking space and cut off the engine grab my bag and purse and walk inside the building. The reception was to your left as you enter the building, so I walk towards it to find the lady behind the desk typing something on her keypad. I felt bad interrupting her, but I really need to know where I should go.

"Excuse me miss, I am so sorry to bother you, but do you know which floor I need to go I am the new secretary" I told her politely while showing her my email that I printed out that stated I am hired as a secretary. She looks away from her computer with a frown on her face and takes the paper I handed.

She reads the paper quickly. "Oh yes, the new secretary. My name is Sarah as you can see, I am the receptionist you need to go to the 39th floor and then ask a woman by the name of Catherine to show you to your desk. She is easy to spot. She is the only one who has strawberry blond hair" she says politely while pointing to the elevator on her right.

"I hope you enjoy working. And a little advice ignore the women on your floor if they say something about you as they are just jealous that the secretary gets to work closely with the boss" she roll her eyes. I decided that I like her and that we can become good friends. I thank her for the help and advice. I assure her that I will not let what other people say about me get to me. So, with a wave goodbye I went to the lift and press up, waiting a minute for the elevator to arrive.

Once the elevator opens, I enter with several other people, and I pressed the 39th floor button. While I waited for the lift to reach my floor, I focus on my breathing to calm my nerves and put on a confident smile. While I was doing that the lift opens a close until the lift opens with a 'ding' to my floor.

I step out of the lift to see that the whole place was full of people working on the desk or walking around doing various tasks. It was quite overwhelming, but I walk to find a woman with strawberry blond hair. After walking around bumping into a colleague and apologizing, I finally found her. Sarah was right to say that she was easy to spot when you are at the right place.

I scurried over to her and introduce myself. We chatted for a bit then she showed me around the office and where everything is located. Then she shows me my cubicle that will be my workspace. Then she shows me the ropes on what I am expected to do and all I need to know about my job. Which was basically sorting out the boss's schedule for the coming months.

She was showing me the break room where you make your coffee and telling me I must bring coffee to the boss whenever he asks for it, when some ladies suddenly came. They were dress rather improper for a workspace as they were wearing blouses that was a bit too tight and quite a short skirt that if the bend their backside will show. It's a wonder they can walk at all. Beside me Catherine let out an irritated sigh.

"Well, well. What do we have here. A newbie" the leader of the group said in a scathing voice. Trying to scare me I am guessing. "Yes I am. My name is Sapphire Evans. May I know your name?" I ask confidently. I know how to deal with people like them. Their all the same trying to harass the newcomer. Not much different from high school girls, which is sad as they are grown adults.

She seems taken a back with my words. I guess all other newbies showed fear that she can then use to her advantage. Well, I am not going to be one of them, so I stood my ground. She was just about to make a retort when the voice of a man from behind them boom throughout the floor.

"What is going on here?!"

I turn my head to the right a bit to see who it was, and I paled down a bit.

It was Mr. Giovanni looking stern and annoyed.
