Chapter 68 - A thief

"You entered my carriage without permission," Isolde's eyes locked on to her, "You know what that means, don't you?"

This was clearly a set up by Fiona. That Sly woman.

"L-Lady Isolde. I swear I didn't take anything from the..."

"What were you doing inside?" Isolde cut Tessa off. In any case before Tessa pleaded Not guilty. She had to dig deeper into the situation. Where no one would save this stupid maid.

"My Lady," Tessa began, her voice unsteady. "Fiona told me you were calling for me, so I came over. Then she told me to get inside that you were..." she softly added, "were inside."

Her words felt heavy, clumsy. The more she spoke, the more she realized how it sounded.

This was a setup. Fiona had planned it. She knew Lady Isolde wasn't inside from the start.

Tessa's stomach twisted. Just how much did Fiona loathe her to go this far? She'd done nothing wrong, only tried to do her job, to stay quiet and out of everyone's way. Yet somehow, Fiona wanted to frame her this evilly.
