Since Luka decided to "go to the dungeon" to steal gold, he needed decent equipment for his Inquisitor chess piece, based on Eisenhorn.
The piece had only a bolt pistol and psychic staff, insufficient for the task. Even with an Emperor-gifted power sword, it was under-equipped.
As a psyker, the Inquisitor could handle cultists or rebels, but wasn't an alpha-level psyker capable of planet-shattering feats. Overusing psychic powers risked opening a Warp portal, inviting Chaos demons.
Losing the piece wouldn't affect Luka personally, but it would waste his investments.
Using 200 novice mission points, Luka equipped the Inquisitor:
Master-level Relic Fine Power Greatsword (25 points)
Master-level Relic Fine Plasma Pistol (25 points)
Master-level Relic Fine Power Armor (50 points)
Spending 100 points transformed the Inquisitor's gear.
Luka also bought two servo skulls (10 points), upgraded by Olivia with small shields and ion weapons for pathfinding and support.
One skull was a reconnaissance model, scanning environments independently. The other linked to the power armor, acting as a fire control and battlefield awareness module, transmitting tactical data and controlling limbs in emergencies.
Luka added a rose rosary, a personal shield, distinct from the Inquisition's Rose Knot. Despite Warhammer's primitive appearance, its tech was advanced. The rosary's shield, though limited against Gauss rays, was better than flesh.
In the wilderness, two Chimera troop carriers headed to a Mechanicus mining station on Rostov II, extracting blackstone.
Blackstone's Warp-isolating properties made it valuable to the Inquisition and Mechanicus, despite its mysterious nature.
"Olivia, we're only scouting the ruins, not excavating. If the tomb's defenses activate, we retreat immediately," Luka stressed to Olivia, riding with him.
He brought only his Battle Sisters squad, excluding Kashejin, to minimize the team and avoid waking Necrons.
Olivia nodded, "I understand, Governor. I'll restrain my urge to excavate for smoother future operations."
They arrived at the mining station, staffed by low-level Mechanicus priests and servitors mining blackstone.
"I halted ruins excavation as you wished, but I can't stop blackstone mining without alerting the Forge World," Olivia explained, leading Luka to an elevator descending into the mine.
"I hope this goes smoothly," Luka said, drawing his weapon, ready for battle.
