Chapter 47 - Chapter 46: Twins

"Fire!"

The HYDRA soldiers didn't waste any words. After receiving the order, they immediately pulled their triggers. Flames erupted from their muzzles, and a dense volley of bullets rained down on Ophelia, Kaecilius, and the twins.

When Wanda and Pietro heard the gunshots, their faces turned pale. They instinctively hugged each other, closed their eyes, and waited for death to come.

But a moment later, nothing seemed to happen. Instead, they heard shouts and screams of surprise.

"It's a mutant! Call for backup and notify the doctor immediately!"

The twins opened their eyes to an incredible sight. The handsome uncle, who had been bending over and smiling at the beautiful woman, now had one hand stretched out in front of him. A gigantic, mysterious, golden pattern had appeared, like a shield. The bullets hit the pattern and became embedded in it. The bullets were still spinning wildly, but they could not penetrate. The terrifying soldiers continued to pull their triggers, but the bullets were all stopped.

The experimental children in the activity area were also stunned by this scene. They forgot to run and just stood there blankly.

"Awesome!" As a boy, Pietro was filled with admiration.

"This is magic." Ophelia gently touched Wanda's and Pietro's heads, then turned to Kaecilius, who was posing, and said, "Deal with them."

"Do you want to kill them all?"

"Everyone except the experimental subjects. Kill them all."

Hearing this, Kaecilius smiled. He put down the Seraphim Shield, performed a complex set of hand gestures, and pressed his palms to the ground.

Bang!

In the next moment, the foundation of the entire base suddenly cracked. The cracks spread wildly along the ground, up the walls, and across the ceiling, reaching every corner of the base. Dense, tentacle-like purple energy lines emerged from the cracks, emitting an ominous purple light. As if they were sentient beings, they accurately grabbed all the HYDRA soldiers, logistics personnel, officers, and scientists throughout the base. Amid the screams, the people were pulled into the cracks until they completely disappeared.

The entire process lasted less than ten seconds. The base, which had thousands of people, was now completely empty, leaving only the two dozen or so experimental children, Kaecilius, Ophelia, and the twins. The crazy, piercing alarms of the base continued to echo in their ears. The experimental children in the activity area and the twins stared, wide-eyed and motionless, at the horrifying scene, watching as the cracks in the ground and walls, which glowed with a purple halo, gradually sealed themselves.

"Magic is really useful."

While the group of children was dumbfounded, Ophelia was full of admiration. The military strength of this experimental base was quite formidable, and the security was extremely tight. There was even a self-destruct system, making it difficult for ordinary people to break in. But in front of Kaecilius, it was all so simple and effortless.

Fortunately, she didn't need to be too envious. What she was learning to master was a power even greater than magic, one that led directly to godhood. Magic was just a power that could be mastered on the way to becoming a god.

"Magic, huh..."

Kaecilius sneered. Before he went to Kamar-Taj, he also yearned for magic, but now he knew that magic was a lie. People had never truly possessed magic. The source of magic was not created by humans but came from the ancient and powerful White Magic gods, the Vishanti. Borrowing magic energy came at a great cost. Compared to the knowledge and power taught by Leon, the true god in his mind, it was the real path to godhood.

He was only using magic now because he didn't care about the cost. The price for borrowing power from the Dark Dimension would automatically be paid after he died. Kaecilius just needed to stay alive. To put it bluntly, he had decided to be a deadbeat.

"Okay, let my people take those children away. They will find a good home."

Kaecilius nodded, waved his hand, and opened a portal. A group of fully armed soldiers came through the portal. After the captain bowed his head and placed his right hand on his chest in a salute, he led the group of nervous experimental children out of the base.

As for Ophelia, Kaecilius took the twins to another location.

The twins had no intention of resisting. Witnessing the magical power that Kaecilius displayed ignited a light of ambition in their eyes. They were thirsty for power, whether it was magic or something else. As long as they could get the power to exact their revenge, the twins were willing to give up everything.

At a cafe called Nova, Leon sat in a window seat wearing a blue plaid shirt and jeans. Across from him, Teacher Perona was excitedly chattering away. Leon stirred his coffee with a long spoon, the swirling liquid looking like a vortex.

He listened to the words of the girl, who was a few years older than him, and responded occasionally to make her happier. Her golden ponytail swayed along with her joyful mood.

After a while, at Leon's prompting, Perona looked at her wristwatch and let out a quick gasp.

"Oops, I'm almost late. I have to go now. Leon, I had a great time drinking coffee with you today. Next time I'll take you to another nice restaurant for dinner."

With that, she stood up, grabbed her bag, and left the cafe in a hurry. Leon turned and watched Perona ride her electric scooter toward the kindergarten until she disappeared down the road.

Turning back, he saw Ophelia standing in front of him. "Have a seat."

With Leon's permission, Ophelia sat down confidently. "You found the twins?"

Leon took a sip of his coffee. With his Seventh Sense, he could perceive the entire planet. What happened in Kosovia was impossible to hide from him. Or, rather, anything connected to him would be instantly perceived by him.

"Yes. Do you want to see the twins?"

"Take them to Madripoor and get them settled. Bring them to see me in three months."
