Chapter 55 - Souls Apart

Sunny's POV

The soul separation ritual completed with a sound like thunder splitting the sky.

Sunny gasped and fell forward, his hands hitting the cold mountain stone. Where his magical bond with Luna used to live in his chest, there was now just empty space - a hollow ache that felt worse than any physical wound.

"It's done," the Shadow King announced with satisfaction. "You are no longer connected to each other."

Sunny tried to look at Luna, but something was wrong with his vision. She was sitting only a few feet away, but she seemed blurry and distant, like he was seeing her through thick glass.

"Luna?" he called out, but his voice sounded flat and emotionless.

"I'm here," she replied, but she didn't turn toward him. Her voice carried no warmth, no recognition, no care.

Sunny attempted to stand but his legs wouldn't support him properly. Without the bond anchoring his magic, his golden power felt scattered and weak, like trying to hold water in his bare hands.
