Chapter 56 - The Parents' Quest

Queen Celeste's POV

Queen Celeste screamed as she felt her daughter's life force suddenly vanish.

The magical connection between mother and child, which had existed since Luna's birth, went dark like a candle being blown out. For seventeen years, Celeste had always been able to sense Luna's presence, her emotions, her well-being. Now there was nothing but terrible emptiness.

"Luna!" she cried out, falling to her knees in the crystal prison where she and King Apollo had been trapped.

"I felt it too," King Apollo said grimly, his own face pale with shock. "Sunny's life essence just disappeared completely."

"They're not dead," Celeste said desperately, though she wasn't sure she believed her own words. "They can't be dead."

"Then what happened to them?" Apollo asked, moving closer to the prison wall.

Before Celeste could answer, something impossible occurred. The dark crystal walls that had held them captive for three years suddenly cracked and began crumbling.
