Chapter 17 - The labytinth exam part 2

After a few minutes, the exam began. The timer was set: we had three days to score 100 points. Immediately, as soon as we heard the starting signal, everyone rushed toward the entrance. As for me, I decided to wait a little with my group so the path would clear up. After some time, the way was empty. So, I entered the labyrinth directly, followed by my annoyed teammates. Then, I started walking straight ahead.

I asked Saru to use his Material Detection skill. When he activated it, a blue glow spread through the entire corridor, branching out in several directions, passing even through the stone walls. As I looked around, something struck me. This place felt… familiar. As if these memories came from my former world. It felt like… an archaeological site. But it was the first time I had experienced such a sensation. It was like I already knew this place.

The deeper we went, the stronger this feeling grew. After watching me closely, Aruna asked, trying to reassure me:

"What's wrong, Henray? You've been acting strange for a while."

"No, it's just… this place feels really familiar," I replied, trying to calm her.

Shrugging, she continued to follow me alongside Saru. A few minutes later, my body began trembling. I collapsed to the ground, groaning. My head throbbed with pain, and then I started losing consciousness. Aruna rushed toward me to help me up, but my body was paralyzed. My muscles no longer responded, my bones gave out, and suddenly my eyes shut on their own.

Shortly after, I felt emptiness again, the same void as when I was reincarnated. So… am I dead? No, no, impossible. No, I'm sure of it. But wait—when I was reincarnated, I remembered many things. So maybe now… I'll recall something else. Maybe… maybe not. The question is, what exactly will I remember?

Now… the memories are coming back. Yes, I see them rushing through me. Memories of… the museum??!! What? Why the museum? Don't tell me… Oh, yes, I remember now. The labyrinth of this trial—it looks exactly like my memories of the archaeological site in the Kyoto Museum. Wait… and in that museum, there was the Scepter of the Angel of Death… and also the Scepter of the Angel of Creation, which was said to be worth 1000 points. This is unbelievable! And I even remember the guide in the museum explaining how to find the two scepters. Now, I just need to get out of this void. I'll do it like Goku. Yaaaaaaaah!

POV (Aruna & Saru): "Why the hell is this idiot crapping himself?"

After a long moment, I woke up—and my clothes were wet. I immediately realized what had happened: I had crapped myself. So, I ran quickly to change (yes, we were allowed to bring spare clothes). But while changing, I felt the urge to pee. Using Creation Magic, I conjured a small bathroom in a corner. I thought I'd never need it, but I didn't know it would actually come in handy in such a situation. After a while, I finished and rejoined the others.

I woke up the rest of the group so we could continue searching. When Aruna got up, she helped wake her brother. Once everyone was ready, I began following my memories as a guide.

As we advanced, Saru asked furiously:

"First of all, why did you faint? Because of you, we only have one day left! And second, why are you searching at random? I should never have joined you!"

So, I explained to him—while carefully avoiding mentioning my reincarnation—that I actually knew the path to the two scepters. Intrigued yet mocking, Saru laughed at me.

An hour later, I ended up stuck between two walls. Shocked, I panicked, thinking I had made a mistake. I sat down, sad and discouraged. As I leaned my head against the wall, I felt what seemed like a hidden button. When I pressed it, a hidden door opened, releasing a faint light.

In the distance… we saw the two scepters. A wide smile spread across my face. I ran, grabbed them, and came back with both in my hands. Aruna and Saru, completely stunned, asked me how I managed to do it.

On our way back, we encountered a rival group that wanted the scepters. At first, trying not to kill them, I dodged their attacks. But their murderous intent could be felt even from afar. When they tried to attack with a special move combined with the Quick Assassination skill, I decided to fight back after hiding the scepters. Using Quick Assassination myself, I intimidated them enough to make them retreat.

After a while, we finally reached the entrance. Before stepping out, I created replicas of the two scepters. Once the fakes were ready, I walked out. In a second, all eyes turned toward us and the two false scepters—while the real ones were safely hidden inside the same invisible backpack as before.
