As I looked around the small space, I noticed something. Dry blood, and from the looks of it it was from only an hour ago. Then I heard someone crying, I turned towards the commotion and found a very weak and sickly woman crying in the corner.
As I took a closer look, she had black hair, but the eyes were covered by arms as she was cradling herself. I took a step back, she was familiar, too familiar she gave me the impression of someone I trust and love. I got the hint.
"M-mom?" I questioned. She suddenly stiffened up, then she looked at me with eyes filled with worry and deep relief. "Oh my baby!" She suddenly got up and sprinted at me even with her sickly state.
"Oh my baby, I was so worried, where did you go, why were you late, are you hurt?" She kept trying to look at every part of me to see if I had any injuries.
"No, I'm fine." I soothed. She suddenly stopped shaking, and checking me all over and turned to glare at me. "THEN WHY DIDN'T YOU COME HOME!"
I trembled. How could I tell her that I wasn't actually her real son and that his real son died of berry poisoning. Well I couldn't, that was the answer.
"U-um i was just picking these berrys for you, when I suddenly felt really sleepy, and the grass was sooo soft, so I just fell asleep!" I said to her.
"Don't EVER scare me like that again, no not ever!!" She cried. "Okay" I said with a nod yes. "Good." She pulled away, and a line of snot followed. "Mom" "Yes baby?" Weren't you sick in bed sleeping?" I asked as I suddenly remember my past self explaining. " Yes baby but when I called out to you, my mommy self took control of me and I started to get scared!" She said with a sad face.
We just cuddled each other after a bit until I remembered. "Mom, look what I brought you!!" I picked up my handful of strawberries, and showed it to her with a wide grin. She smiled when I brought it up to her mouth.
"Honey, you should eat those instead. I haven't been able to give you real food in a long time, and mommy's not hungry." I knew that she was lying. She looked as this as a rail and as delicate as glass.
If she doesn't eat something now, she probably wouldn't live to see tomorrow. My smile slipped, and concern instantly took its place. "But mommy, I've already eaten a lot of the strawberries, and you also look sooo hungry!" I said.
She looked at my face for a couple of seconds, tracing my face and finally took the strawberries from my raised hands, and said a polite, "Thank you Oliver." And went strait to eating.
She ate the whole thing (Not like it was a lot. It was just what I could fit in my two tiny hands) and afterwords I could feel a natural glow from her after that.
The attraction that I felt for women disappeared during my reincarnation because by now I would have been head over heals for my own mother, and oh how grateful I am.
She was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen in my life, and I could tell that I had gotten most of my beauty from her. I could only just hope that she wouldn't get taken advantage of any time soon.
Her eyes were a sapphire blazing purple, and her smile was radiant, yet had the motherly charm to it, like she would give anything to keep me safe.
Her body was overly thin and her skin was pale, but she still radiated dignity, almost reminding me of nobles.
She looked pretty young, like 18 young, and since we were out in the forest in a dusty old cottage, I could guess that we were poor.
She was wearing a pure white night gown that looked used and torn but still held itself together. The only bad thing about her appearance was the dark eye bags around her eyes, but of course that would be expected of a very sick mother who woke up to find their little kid gone without a trace in the middle of a forest.
The bed right beside her looked very aged, but I could at first glance that it used to be exquisite and refined. The walls were wooden and the floor was too.
Basically everything was wood. 'If there was ever a fire, we would be the first to go.' I thought to myself.
Mom made me some vegetable soup to which I ate stallingly, then she tucked me in her bed, but not before she took my cape off to let my wings and tail breath and she gently lulled me to sleep.
