Ivy's POV
I bolted upright in bed, gasping for air as my hand clutched my thundering heart. The vivid dream lingered—those piercing blue eyes of the black wolf haunting me even as consciousness took hold. I scanned my darkened room, half-expecting to find the mysterious creature lurking in the shadows, but there was nothing.
"What on earth was that?" I collapsed back onto my pillows, releasing a nervous laugh that did nothing to calm my racing pulse. When I closed my eyes, his penetrating gaze immediately flashed in my mind, causing my skin to erupt in goosebumps. "Who are you?" I whispered into the emptiness.
A sudden knock at the door pulled me from my thoughts. I sat up again, suddenly remembering the state of my sheets. "Crap, the blood." I shuffled toward the door, wiping sleep from my eyes before cracking it open.
Nancy didn't wait for an invitation, pushing past me with determined energy that seemed unnatural for this ungodly hour.
