Lucian's POV
I sat on the couch in the living room of my chambers, elbows resting on my knees, fingers drumming lazily against my palm. The night was here , heavy, still, and still, Evelyn wasn't back.
Not that I cared, I really didn't care. I'd told her earlier to convince me if she wanted my help, and a part of me had been mildly curious to see what she would come up with. What she thought she could offer a creature like me. What kind of bargain a trembling little human girl would think could tempt the beast she despised so much.
It would've been interesting to watch. But she wasn't here. Too bad.
My eyes drifted to the window. The moon hung there, full and pale, like it always did, a constant reminder of the one who cursed me. The same one I refused to obey now. I had already told one of the guards to get my car ready. The moment it arrived, I'd be gone.
With or without seeing her.
