Evelyn's POV
For a moment, I couldn't speak. My lips parted, but no sound came out.
He had said it so simply, so carelessly, like it was nothing
I was supposed to be disgusted. I was supposed to hate him. Every word Lucian spoke should have fueled my anger, my disgust, my loathing. But instead, my body betrayed me.
My breath caught in my throat, and I could feel warmth crawl up my neck, flooding my cheeks. My heart hammered against my ribs, the sound so loud it drowned out the rest of the world. My hands trembled where they hung at my sides.
And that place in between my legs..... it felt flooded.
It didn't make sense. Nothing about this man, this monster, should make me react this way. Yet I couldn't tear my eyes away from him.
