Chapter 2 - The Ghost Queen’s First Day

When Marina turned around, the ghost was standing inside with her —closer this time, his pale lips curling into a smile.

‎"Hello… our queen."

‎Marina froze. "Who are you? Are you… a ghost?"

‎"Yes," he said without hesitation. "And you'll be seeing more of us from now on. We are your slaves."

‎Her mouth went dry. "Slaves? What—why—?"

‎But before she could finish, he vanished into thin air, leaving only the faint scent of damp earth.

‎Shaken, Marina ran outside. And that's when she noticed them—dozens of ghosts, some with deep cuts across their faces, others with hollow eyes and jagged smiles. She screamed and sprinted toward the forest, hoping to find that strange old woman again… but the forest was gone. Only a row of ordinary houses stood in its place.

‎Two years passed.

‎Two years of living with the dead.

‎And though the fear had never fully left, Marina had grown strangely… accustomed to them.

‎It was the first day at her new college.

‎In her crisp new uniform, hair neatly tied, Marina walked toward campus, trying to feel normal. The morning sun was gentle—until a car came speeding past, splashing muddy water all over her skirt.
