Chapter 1 - Beyond The Horizon

July 1, 400th Century

Ignisar, Emberland

In the house of City lord's office,

Rowan Emberain writing something with full concentration, papers are thrown everywhere as to say that those were all mistakes and nothing of value. Rowan's red eyes shows an expression of disbelief and frustration, he again throws the paper on the floor and tries to find a new one but realises that there's no more paper, he calms down and sinks into the chair and sighs.

Just as he was about to call his servant Oswin Hearthrow, the door gets knocked and Oswin calls "My lord"

Rowan says, "Come in, Oswin." with a smile on his face.

Oswin, an old man enters the room and bows to Rowan

Rowan asks, "What is it Oswin?", Rowan also notices a letter envelope in Oswin's hand with an Emblem of the Emberlain family- an Ember.

Oswin replies to Rowan,"My lord, this letter was delivered here directly from the Capital." and he hands over the envelope to Rowan.

Rowan shakes his head and says to Oswin to read the letter.

Next, Oswin holds the Envelope with one hand and suddenly on his right hand's index finger a small fire ember can be seen, he then presses his burning index finger on the emblem seal, and the emblem just vanished. Oswin takes out the letter and starts reading, "Dear Rowan, I wrote this letter that I have finished reading the scriptures of our ancestors and the generations which are living on this island since four hundred years, I had even ordered my men to read all the books which have records related to the minimum age of ritual of the elemental dawn to turn a human to Aetherbinders is indeed 50, and no human can become an Aetherbinder if he doesn't participates in the ritual, resulting in the early death of just 70 years, and I as your great grand father beg you to come to the capital and attend the ritual, I don't want my own great grand son to die in front of my eyes, Rowan. I am also well aware of your problem which you told me in your childhood but I failed to find any records about your problem, I am sorry for it, but once again I request you to come and the ritual nevertheless, this is not only for you but also for the people in your city, the beasts are attacking us on the borders of the nation, if you want to save your people, you have to become an Aetherbinder, only then will you be able to protect them, your grandfathers, father, mother, uncles are worried about you too, think about them. Oswin, I know you are reading the letter right now, and after reading this, you have to drag Rowan from there and bring him to the capital! I have also sent the royal guards member who are waiting outside the Ignisar city gates and Rowan, if you come this time, I will answer your question and tell you about the 'history'. Rowan, I believe that you are very talented and the you also received the knowledge of 'that man'. Rowan, you are the hope of our people who will take them to the land beyond the horizon."

Rowan after hearing the last words of Alaric couldn't help but clench his fists and smile. His face was very beautiful at the very moment in the red rays of sunset shining on his black hair and red eyes.

Oswin who is standing in front of Rowan thinks in his mind, 'As expected of lord Alaric, only he can bring smile to this middle aged man whose potential is as good as a teenager.'

Rowan snaps out of his thoughts and smiles bitterly while looking at Oswin and says, "I will follow the wishes of the old man, arrange everything and we will head out immediately."

Rowan exits his house with Oswin behind him, the city lord house is made of wood and looks sturdy, but isn't very grand and looks humble- enough for a family of four and more than enough for Rowan who lives alone with Oswin. Rowan is wearing a black pant with white on top, it also has a symbol of flame- Ember, the symbol of royal family, which signifies that the person who is wearing these cloths is a direct member of royal family, and Rowan is. The people nearby immediately noticed Rowan and greeted him but just as they noticed the special dress Rowan was wearing today, they all started kneeling on the ground without saying anything. Rowan sighs, as this was not a common thing and was very natural to him. In Emberland, there were many city lords who were not from royal family but were from other families, so when Rowan became the city lord people used to kneel everytime he came outside, so he decided and told the people that until he is not wearing this royal family dress, he is just a city lord, nothing more and restricted the people to kneel. He looked behind and Oswan who was standing with 2 luggage cases was standing behind him, he might be an old man but since he was an Aetherbinder, he was much powerful than Rowan. Oswan noticed the gaze of Rowan and said, "My lord, I have noticed the vice-city lord to take care of the city affairs until you come back. We are ready to head out."

Rowan replies to him by moving ahead and says."Let's go, We have to meet the royal guardians." They climbed the horse and moved ahead.

The city gate was old but sturdy looking, the gate keepers knelt as they have already heard about Rowan coming out wearing royal emblem. Rowan passed the city gate and in the distance he say a large group of people who were emitting a powerful aura, similar and much powerful than what Oswin used in Rowan's room to open the envelope, but this aura was not the fire itself, it was harmless but intimidating, if a person goes near the aura, it will give the impression that you are inside a large fire but it won't harm you physically, but mentally which is fatal for even normal humans. Although normal humans were rare in Emberland but rare cases like Rowan were there.

However, Rowan was nonchalant when he saw or felt the aura, because of a simple reason- He has felt thousands and millions time more powerful aura by his parents, grandparents and elders since childhood. Oswin and Rowan moved ahead on horses while Oswin enveloped his aura on the horses and also on Rowan, since horses are normal animals and not beasts whose mental strength is great enough to resist the aura. After travelling a less than kilometre on the plains of Emberland did they finally arrived to the temporary tents of royal guardians who were kneeling on the ground with their leader who had the most imposing aura among them.

Rowan notices the aura and thinks, 'why did he sent a rank 4 Aetherbinder just to bring his great grand son who is not even a Aetherbinder yet.' and frowns but quickly ignores it.

He climbs down the horse and stand in front of the leader of royal guardians and says, "Please stand up, commander." Royal guardians had 7 rank 5 aetherbinders and under each of them were hundreds of rank 4 aetherbinders. 6 of the parts of Royal guardians were on the borders fighting the beasts and one of the parts task was to check the security inside the kingdom, but having peace since the kingdom was established, their only task was to escort royal family members.

On the orders of Rowan the army commander stood up and signalled his army to stand up, and again looks at Rowan and says," I am army commander of the 7th part of royal guardians, Giles, here under the order of the royal family to escort Lord Rowan to the Capital of Emberland, Firaelis. We will head out at your orders." Although Rowan received the orders to head out immediately, but currently the Solyra(sun) has already gone below the horizon and Lunareth(moon) can be seen rising from the opposite direction.

Rowan pats the shoulder of the Giles and says, "You all must have come here without taking any rest on the way and I am also feeling a little tired, We will head out tomorrow after taking a rest tonight." Although Aetherbinders were sort of superhumans but they were not complete superhumans, they still required food, water and sleep, although far less than what a normal human needed. As he said that, the soldiers of the army faces lit up because indeed they didn't took any rest while coming here.
