"DXD: Infinite Loot System"Chapter 322: The Kamiyo Household Mascot

"Opportunity? What kind of opportunity?"

Rias's voice cut through the lingering tension, her brow furrowed.

"To restore balance to the world."

Azazel's reply was heavy, his gaze serious.

"The Khaos Brigade has been using Ophis to gather power—so much that they're now strong enough to stand against the entire alliance. If this keeps up, chaos is inevitable."

"Honestly, the world's already a mess."

Tenra muttered, half-joking.

Azazel pressed on. "If the Brigade loses Ophis, they lose their greatest source of influence. No more recruiting in her name. Their growth stalls, maybe even reverses."

It made sense. Tenra and the girls nodded, but one glaring question remained.

"Even so, why bring Ophis to us?"

Tenra's lips twitched. Ophis was basically a living nuke—unlikely to go off, but if she did, nobody would survive. Who'd want that in their living room?

Azazel sighed. "I didn't have much choice. The alliance is held together by fragile trust. Handing Ophis to any one faction would shatter everything we've built."

"Even doing nothing, just having her exist is a headache."

He looked exhausted. Meanwhile, Ophis sat quietly on Tenra's lap, licking her candy, seemingly oblivious to the world's worries.

"So you're dumping this on us?"

Tenra couldn't help but feel a little exasperated.

"Your place is the only one I could think of that could accept Ophis without upsetting the balance. And Ophis herself is interested in staying here."

Azazel didn't mention that Vali had specifically suggested Tenra's house.

"Ophis, you want to stay with us?"

Tenra glanced down, surprised, and patted Ophis on the head.

"Mm. Ddraig and Albion are here."

She paused, then added, "And you are friend."

Tenra blinked. The Heavenly Dragons' connection to Ophis was well-known, but that last bit caught his attention.

"You know what 'friend' means now?"

He'd called himself her friend while feeding her candy when they first met, but he'd never expected the concept to stick.

"Friend gives me tasty things."

Ophis replied with perfect innocence.

The girls couldn't help but giggle, and Tenra facepalmed. So much for deep emotional bonds—apparently anyone who offered snacks qualified.

Still—

"Ophis, didn't anyone in the Khaos Brigade feed you?"

Tenra's curiosity got the better of him.

"No."

She answered calmly, still working on her candy.

She didn't need food, but hearing that nobody bothered to feed her made the room fall silent. Asia's eyes shimmered with sympathy.

Those Khaos Brigade jerks—how could they be so cruel? Poor Ophis.

Tenra sighed. "Alright, decision made. Ophis stays with us."

Azazel broke into a hearty laugh. "Kid, I knew you were the right choice!"

Tenra grinned, but Rias looked ready to protest again.

"Rias, you heard Azazel. Keeping Ophis here is the best option."

"But… it's so dangerous. What if she hurts someone?"

Tenra nodded, acknowledging the risk. He lifted Ophis gently and looked her in the eye.

"Ophis, until you return to the Dimensional Gap, you'll stay at our house. But you have to promise—no hurting anyone here. Ever."

Ophis glanced around, then nodded. "Okay."

Tenra set her down. "Good enough, Rias?"

Rias rolled her eyes, resigned. "If you say so, what choice do I have?"

She didn't trust Ophis's promise so much as she trusted Tenra. The other girls felt the same.

"Then it's settled. Ophis, from now on, you're our household mascot!"

Tenra's mood brightened. Unlike everyone else, he wasn't afraid of Ophis—in fact, he was secretly thrilled Azazel had brought her here.

Pure, innocent, and unimaginably powerful. If he could slowly influence her, maybe even win her over…

She'd be both an unbeatable pet and the ultimate defender.

"Mascot. What is?"

Ophis tilted her head, puzzled. The girls tensed, unsure how she'd react.

"A mascot means we take care of you, give you good food and drinks, and you bring everyone in the house good luck."

Tenra ruffled her hair, smiling.

"Good luck? I only give power, not luck."

Ophis frowned, genuinely confused.

"Just stay here, and you'll bring us luck. Don't worry about it."

"Oh."

If Tenra said so, that was enough for Ophis. She accepted her new title with a shrug.

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief—even Azazel wiped his brow.

Tenra can be terrifying sometimes. If he ever annoyed Ophis, they'd all be doomed.

Meanwhile, Le Fay gazed at Tenra with shining eyes.

To make the invincible Ophis the household mascot… Tenra-sama really is the best!

Azazel gestured to Le Fay. "Since that's settled, Le Fay will stay here to help look after Ophis. She's also your contact with Vali—if anything happens with the Khaos Brigade, Vali will reach out through her."

Le Fay stepped forward and bowed politely. "Tenra-sama, everyone, I'll be in your care."

Well-mannered and gentle, she was a welcome addition—unlike the overwhelming presence of Ophis.

"Malin, Burent, get lunch ready. We're welcoming Ophis and Le Fay today."

"Azazel, join us for lunch before you go."

"I'll pass. The Underworld needs me—I have to leave right away."

"Gasper, we're leaving."

Azazel, having finally offloaded the world's biggest headache, hurried toward the teleportation circle, dragging a reluctant Gasper along.
