"I'm so sorry,it seems today is going to be a bad day for me."I announced in a dreadful tone as I looked at the mess I had created in someone else's office.
"Well,I don't know what you did and don't want to know either but this mess isn't going to clear off by itself so chop chop before Leonard comes to see this."
"Why,is he coming?"I asked in trepidation which she looked at me with that'really' expression.
"Why? Did you think he was never coming back to his office?" She asked in an annoying tone which made me a little vexed but I didn't dare express it for as it stood now, I needed every work I could get. I was even tempted to go call Dina that big mouth would let the whole hospital aware that I had made a complete fool of myself. I couldn't bear such humiliation.
"In that case, let's fix this before he comes."I requested politely, swallowing my anger and pride. Getting to work,the two of us pulled the annoyingly heavy book shelf into its rightful place and started filling it up with the books that were all scattered on the ground.
"Don't you think he would notice that the books aren't arranged in their previous positions?" I asked, a little worried.
"Girl, that would be very weird and creepy. And even if he does,there is nothing we can do about it or...
don't tell me you know the right positions of every single book here. It hasn't gone that far has it?" She asked with bewilderment in her expression. What she said made me feel offended but I knew that would be creepy as well even though I wish I knew where every book of his was supposed to be.
"Of course no."
Looking at me suspiciously which I didn't care,she nodded and we continue arranging the books. I picked the book which had caused this chaos and brutely placed it at the bottom of the shelf. That was were it was suppose to be now.
"Whoa, having something against the innocent book? Calm down it's not its fault you are where you are now."
"Oh trust me,it is." I muttered under my breath which made her look at me.
"Did you say something?"
I shook my head as I continued packing the books. Jeez,the books were so many. When were we going to finish in time? It's still a shock and wonder why Leonard hasn't arrived yet.
"Gosh I'm already tired. Does he read all these books?"Cas said ending my train of thoughts. She looked so exhausted. The lifting of the book shelf had already taken its toll on her and now,she had to pack these huge quantity of books.I felt really guilty for doing this.
In the mist of packing the books,her gaze met mine which I quickly averted because I knew she would definitely notice my guilt at first glance.
"Hey,no need to feel bad.You would have done the same for me if I was in your shoes. What are besties for? I will be there for you in every situation as you would for me. Even though you are always the one who gets into trouble."She muttered that last one which I still heard.
"Hey, I'm not the one always getting into trouble and you know that. Remember that one time you were almost caught for ditching work. Who had to cover for you the entire day?" I protested.
Alright alright, we've both needed each other one way or the other. But on a serious note,I want you to know that I will always be there for you no matter what. Let's do this before you know who comes."I would have already teared up if not for the situation we were in right now. What she had said had made my heart elate in happiness and comfort. I was so lucky to get such a person as my best friend.
Ten minutes had passed and luckily, we were finally done. Cas let out a sigh of both relief and tiredness as she sat on couch close to the wall.
"Well that was one hell of an exercise we just did."She said making me giggle. I came and sat next to her as I too was exhausted.
"So are you going to tell me how all this happened?"she asked.
"I thought someone said she didn't want to know anything."I said mockingly at her.
"Of course I wanted to know. I just wanted us to clear up everything before we talked.You know when two gossip buddies gather to talk, it's a forever moment. Never ending."she reasoned which I nodded in agreement.
'Sound of door opening.'
I stood up in attention when the door opened and the occupant of this office finally arrived. He looked a little startled when he saw Cas and I, which was understandable.
"Uhm, anything wrong?"he asked with a curious look on his face.I turned to look at Cas who was still sitting on the couch comfortably with a ' don't ask me' expression on her face. Great,where was the friend that just said she always had my back? Sighing internally,I decided to come up with something.
"I didn't see the documents you spoke about so I decided to wait for you. I also wanted see you. I..I mean..I mean I wanted to confirm something with you."I stammered. What was that? Why did I just stammer? It's not like this was the first time I had a conversation with him. Or was it due to knowing I had done something naughty?
I saw Cas facepalming herself then shaking her head.What was her problem? She had left me to fend for myself and now that I was doing it,she was criticizing me. What the hell?
"I just came here to ask if you were in for recruiting an assistant since the last one didn't reach your standards." Cas finally spoke. Good, redeeming herself. That was a reasonable lie she had given, that I would give a thumbs up. I nodded my head in confirmation to what she had said, knowing that hat was a close call.
"I thought I left the documents on the desk before leaving. I must have placed it somewhere else." He said walking to his desk looking for the papers that had the information about my patient.
Fortunately,it wasn't there because I had earlier taken it.And as of right now,I had no idea of its whereabouts . Leonard continued looking for the papers with a hint of confusion on his face. If only he was certain he had left the papers on his desk.
Cas stood up from the couch at last and nudged me on the shoulder.
"What is it?" I muttered my breath making sure she was the only one who could hear me.
"Under the shelf."she said pointing at the direction of the shelf.
I looked down and saw the papers lying peacefully there. Only half of it had been exposed thereby making it difficult to see it.
I quickly but quietly, making sure Leonard didn't see me, went and picked it up.
"Huh,here it is. " I announced aloud, showing the papers to him. I was at complete loss when I saw the air around him. His ever so combed hair looked disheveled which gave him the aura of a regal prince .He had started to sweat making his abs come into view and looking like a sea prince and him had just come out from the ocean. Something down there started to tighten and flashes of the dream I had weeks ago started to surface in my mind. My throat had become so dry. He looked like a sexy prince that could make anyone kneel for his attention. I wanted him so bad right now, I didn't know what to do about it .
"How did it appear there."He asked bringing me back to the harsh reality.
"It must have been the wind.The door is still opened." Cas explained raising her head towards the door to the balcony that was opened.
"I must have forgotten."He said wiping the sweat that was on his face with a handkerchief I didn't notice he had taken.Damn that was so sexy. Jeez, why was every action he did so sexy to me. Did Aphrodite visit me to bless me with aphrodisiac today? I swallowed hard and reluctantly removed my gaze from the hot and sexy man that was in front of me before I could be fully turned on.
