Chapter 31 - TOA 31: Theogony Zeus

The primordial dragon Typhon, though renowned as a pure-blooded dragon, was in truth an extraterrestrial species, sharing origins with the Machine Gods. Upon descending to Earth, Typhon transformed itself into a dragon species to confront the gods.

Originally a three-headed mechanical colossus, its conceptualized existence on Earth became this exaggerated being with a hundred heads, shedding its mechanical shell to become a complete mountainous monster of flesh!

In the Nasuverse, this hundred-headed dragon is said to be the origin of all dragons, which is why it bears the title of the primordial dragon.

The dragon's roar shook the world; even the gods would inevitably pale at this moment. If it were to break free, it would bring a storm of blood and carnage, and this world still belonging to gods and humans might once again face destruction!

What the White Deaths of the past failed to accomplish might be completed by this monster!

A hundred dazzling beams of light shot from the dragon's mouths, hurtling toward Morpheus charging through the midair. They were brilliant thunderbolts, sourced from Zeus's divine power!

Having cracked Zeus's functions and obtained Zeus's blueprints through hacking methods, Typhon replicated Zeus's authority and turned it into its own power. In other words, the current Typhon possessed Zeus's thunderous might!

Such violent thunderous power could effortlessly destroy an entire city, or even annihilate towering mountain peaks!

This was the power capable of clashing with the gods, the might that drove the gods fleeing to Egypt!

Even though it had been weakened considerably, the destructive force displayed now was not something mortals could match!

It wouldn't be an issue to call it the main cannon of a warship spanning star systems!

Facing such violent power, even Artemis wore a shocked expression, even considering grabbing Morpheus and fleeing immediately. Yet, she saw Morpheus simply open his book.

That book forged by Hephaestus the god of fire, into which he had stuffed a heap of things!

Since the opponent was an enemy of the Greek gods, then counter with the power of the Greek gods!

"Typhon struck his body with thunder and fire; the winds belong to Typhon, but the thunder belongs to Zeus."

In that instant, a dazzling figure appeared on Morpheus's body, full of muscles, resembling coiled serpents.

Streaks of electric serpents flowed across him, and in his illusory eyes, thunderlight flickered!

Sensing the aura of the phantom appearing on Morpheus from behind, Artemis was startled: "That's Zeus's aura... no, it's not right, it's different somehow. Is it the counterfeit he mentioned, the false Zeus he created?!"

It was indeed Zeus's aura, but with some differences... an unfamiliar Zeus to Artemis, one she had never seen, more like a true human, an incredibly robust human, rather than the figure she usually encountered!

That was Zeus from the Theogony Morpheus had written down, the Zeus recorded in the original text!

In this moment, it was like a reenactment of myth: Typhon's terrifying thunderous power bombarded Morpheus's body, yet Morpheus effortlessly blocked it without even activating the defenses of his clothing!

At the same time, more and more thunderlight gathered around Morpheus; in this instant, he was like thunder descending to the mortal world, transformed into a pure golden humanoid lightning bolt!

"That's Zeus's thunder!" Typhon emitted a muffled voice. It could sense the power contained within that mortal's body, but even so, Typhon felt no fear. In the past, it had defeated Zeus; now, this was merely a mortal who had obtained Zeus's power. Why fear?

It only needed to unleash its true power, and this mortal would be reduced to ashes!

Even more terrifying power began to gather, even causing space to tremble. The next attack would undoubtedly be one capable of affecting spacetime itself!

"Heavens, tear asunder; stars, shatter. All in the sky is mine; all that rules the stars is mine!"

With the chant, an enormous pillar of light appeared ahead, distorting the world in that moment, and the true form of this strike finally revealed itself!

"I am the thunder that rends the stars!"

A Noble Phantasm from Zeus, Zeus's most powerful strike, yet now manifested from Typhon's hand. Artemis had to admit that the power of this blow was on par with Zeus unleashing it personally.

But Morpheus showed no panic; he simply allowed this utterly terrifying attack to descend, his body unscathed, as if the assault were an illusion.

Thunder attacks had no effect on the Zeus of the original text!

Now, it was his turn to attack. Morpheus recited another passage.

"He thundered, fiercely and heavily. The surrounding earth echoed terribly, along with the high broad sky, the sea, the ocean, and Tartarus deep in the earth."

In this moment, everything around changed: the volcanic environment vanished, the surroundings became vast and boundless, with earth visible below, oceans in the distance, and even the sky above!

"A Reality Marble?" Artemis murmured to herself as she observed the change, voicing the possibility closest to her mind.

But what she didn't know was that the surroundings had already transformed into a divine temple; from the moment Morpheus opened the book, this segment of myth had begun eroding the environment.

If he wanted to fight unrestrained without causing massive catastrophe, a sufficiently sturdy divine temple was essential!

Now, within this divine temple turned into a singular space, in this small world, the earth was crumbling, lava flowing, the sea boiling, and the sky likewise burning!

All of this stemmed from Zeus's thunder that had not been fully unleashed!

Everything in the world seemed to tremble in fear before this terrifying might, as if the gods themselves were quaking!

Typhon's hundred eyes widened enormously, staring fixedly at Morpheus now, especially the increasingly dazzling golden light on his opponent.

"Who exactly are you? You're absolutely not human, and while the power you're using resembles Zeus's, it has an essential difference from Zeus!"

It issued a challenge; even as the king of monsters, it felt fear, because that constantly gathering power restrained it from every aspect!

And Morpheus chanted the final words.

"Zeus gripped his weapon and with lightning and thunder fiercely struck, burning all the monstrous heads of that terrible monster!"

In this moment, thunderlight surged wildly around Morpheus; he had now become lightning itself, and in Morpheus's right hand appeared a spear composed entirely of thunder, just like the divine thunder in Zeus's hand from myth!

"Boom!"

The violent thunderlight swept everything; this was thunder infused with divine power, a terrifying force to destroy all, precisely striking Typhon's hundred heads simultaneously. Each head was shattered by this blow, melted by the burn, unable even to regenerate!

Thunder represented Zeus's divine power, and this divine power was now fully manifested in Morpheus. His body transformed into a thunder giant, one hand grasping the dragon's tail, holding it tightly to prevent escape, the other hand clenched into a fist, smashing ruthlessly into the now headless dragon's body.

"Thud!"

"Thud!"

"Thud!"

Continuous booming sounds rang out, the earth wailing in agony. Each attack caused violent earthquakes, the tremors reaching into the abyssal depths!

Under this relentless bombardment, Typhon's flesh cracked piece by piece, flames spurting from the fissures, yet unable to inflict any damage on Morpheus.

This was the divine might of Zeus from the original text; even bare-handed, he could brutally beat Typhon, the father of monsters!

If not for the myth where Zeus did not kill Typhon but imprisoned him in the abyss, Morpheus would undoubtedly slay it now.

But even if the myth lacked such a depiction, it could be achieved through other means!

Amid the colossal dragon beast's howls, Morpheus recited once more from the contents he had inscribed in that book.

"Zeus is Aether, is Gaia, is Uranus! He is all this, the one above all!"

The supreme divine power began to condense, the spell undergoing drastic changes, the world entirely grasped in Morpheus's hand in this moment!

Sensing this terrifying power, Typhon fell into extreme fear, struggling madly yet to no avail. It couldn't break free from the arm flickering with thunder... or rather, composed of thunder. That immense strength couldn't be shaken even by a dozen giants!

Meanwhile, Artemis fell into a daze because of the incantation Morpheus had just recited.

Zeus as aether, as earth, as sky... these corresponded to three different Titan-class vessels, but why were they all called Zeus?!

Moreover, this situation reminded her of a scenario where Zeus, as the flagship, absorbed the authorities of the other vessels as well!

The almighty Zeus!

"As expected, writing it and using it are two different things. For me now, unleashing all the power of the almighty god Zeus is completely impossible. The true almighty god Zeus should reach a level comparable to angels, or even stronger... A sole god appearing in polytheism? Ha..."

Morpheus sensed the magical spell he controlled at this moment, difficult to handle to the extreme. From the perspective of magical spells, this was utterly a failure!

If not relying on the book forged by Hephaestus, he couldn't have unleashed this spell at all.

Yet even so, Morpheus, having obtained a portion of the almighty god's power, now possessed the ability to slay Typhon!

That final thunderlight condensing in Morpheus's hand, dazzling enough to crumble the entire world, represented the root of all things, the thunder of fate that ends everything!

"Boom!"

The world collapsed!

The divine temple was destroyed!

And the king of monsters, Typhon, under this strike, had its body completely dissolved, turning into the most basic aether, slowly dissipating into the surroundings!
