All the humans were basking in the glory of the new addition to the dungeon. They were all in the largest cave in order to look at the 'Scepter of the ascendant'.
They had felt the effects of the artifact immediately. The way they gained slightly more experience on the way to level 1 as it was called. It was obvious that the 'scepter of the ascendant' would be the start of their growing heritage as human beings.
The 'Scepter of the ascendant' possessed its own lone pedastal on the shrine. It was made of various metals and adorned with jewels just like the scepter itself. There was a powerful magical barrier surrounding the 'Scepter of the ascendant' which only human beings could bypass.
The only word to describe it that arrived in all their minds was 'holy'.They did feel a bit depressed that none of them were chosen to wield it but they quickly realised that none of them had properly proven themselves to their goddess.Or perhaps none of them met the requirements to wield it.
The dungeon had also told them what to do with it while it was on the pedastal/shrine.Everytime they learned a new skill they had to make skin contact with the 'Scepter of the ascendant'.
Currently the only one who had learned new skills was Joshua and John the archer.
[Epic rank skill:Beserker Rage level 1]
[Description:This skill allows the user to enter a temporary state of volatile rage.In this state of rage the user exhibits highly enhanced physicality, can ignore pain and their wounds will not bleed out whatsoever.]
[Common rank skill:Archery level 1]
[Description:This skill allows the user to have a high proficiency and skill in archery.]
John the archer heaved out a sigh of disappointment. He had felt pride when he was the first to unlock a new skill but compared to Joshua's achievements the difference was too much.
When the two described their new skills he couldn't help but rethink things. The difference between their skills quality was simply too much.Joshua's skill was basically magic whilst all the archery skill did was improve his skill and proficiency with archery.
Joshua was the first to ascend the few steps up the shrine and to the pedastal where the 'Scepter of the ascendant' resided. He took a moment to admire the artifact as though he were afraid that it wouldn't be there one day and he wanted to properly memorise its appearance.
He layer his hand on it and it was as though the scepter was reading his entire existence. That was the feeling he got when he touched it.When the scepter appeared to be satisfied he stopped touching it.
Whatever he needed to do had been done.John proceeded to do the same but he didn't touch it for as long as though the scepter had an easier time copying the common rank skill compared to the epic rank skill.
...
The dungeon was pleased that she had gotten another achievement but she didn't get a reward for this one.
[New achievement:First epic rank skill]
[One of your dungeon mobs has learned an epic rank skill.]
[Reward:This is one of a set of achievements required to unlock the 'Spear of Babylon' human race artifact.]
The dungeon felt like she had been denied a reward but she had an inkling as to what the other achievements she had to earn was.She didn't have any way of obtaining this artifact easily. She would certainly try to obtain it though considering the sheer benefits one race artifact had granted to her.
Enough of that though one of the humans appeared to be asking her something.
"What do we call you? What shall you be known as?"
The one who was asking appeared to be Arther.
She gave it some thought as the humans waited for her response. She genuinely did need a name.Goddess and great one was a bit of a mouthful.Dungeon was also out as it lacked individuality. It was then that a name came to her mind.
She would be known as Gaia.
"Gaia...from now on you will address me as Gaia."
The humans cheered as they always did when something momentous occurred and Arther let out a smile.
"Then we shall devote our prayers to Gaia."
The other humans looked at Arther. They thought about it and it made sense.Gaia was their creator and God.It was therefore only natural to worship her.
