"Manager, there seems to be a problem with his bank card," the waiter said, running over to the manager with a nervous expression and whispering something in his ear.
The manager's face looked odd, and he followed the waiter out.
"Hahaha, your card can't even pay for that much!" Derek laughed loudly, then turned to Lydia. "Aunt, don't worry, even if his card doesn't have enough money, I'll pay for the portion you guys ate."
"As for this useless guy, whether he can pay or not, or if he gets his legs broken, I don't need to bother!"
"Hmph, even if he gets beaten to death, it's not worth caring about." When the crowd heard that Grant was the one getting beaten, disdainful looks fell on him.
"He relies on his wife for his living expenses, how could he possibly have that much money!"
"He's probably going to be beaten to death, poor guy."
"Derek, thanks to you, otherwise we would all be dragged down by this useless guy. He didn't even consider whether he could afford it before ordering. He's so ignorant!" A slightly plump woman spat at Grant, her face full of disdain.
Derek modestly waved his hand, but his heart was bleeding. Six million dollars, even if he could afford it, it would still be a huge loss. However, if he could publicly humiliate Grant and sleep with Daisy, it would be worth it.
Daisy looked at Grant in confusion. Was he really bragging about having money when he didn't have any? They had been together for so long, and she knew that Grant was not that kind of person. Why would he do this? Just then, the manager who had left earlier came back, holding a bank card in his hands. "Mr. Morgan, this is your bank card," he said.
The manager was shocked when he swiped the card earlier and was told by the waiter that there was a billion dollars in the account. He thought the POS machine was malfunctioning, but it turned out that there really was a billion dollars in the account, and it had just been deposited.
Anyone who could casually produce a bank card with a billion dollars in it was definitely not simple.
"This is the receipt for your purchase. As this is your first time shopping with us, we are pleased to offer you a diamond VIP card. With this card, you can enjoy a discount of at least 40% on all purchases," the manager said.
Grant nodded and casually accepted the card.
What did this mean?
The neighbors, including Derek, who had just mocked Grant, were all confused. Did he actually pay for his purchase?
"Hey, why did you suddenly give him a VIP card? How could this loser afford to pay for anything?" Derek panicked and grabbed the manager's shoulder, questioning him.
The manager turned around and coldly said, "Sir, I have three things to clarify with you. First, it is our store's choice to give the VIP card to whoever we want. If you are not satisfied, you can complain. Second, Mr. Morgan did indeed pay for his purchase, unlike you, who only eats for free."
"Point three, please show some respect to this gentleman!"
Smack! As the manager spoke, he opened Derek's hand and respectfully looked at Grant.
"Daisy, let's go," Grant said without even glancing at Derek, and walked out of the private room.
"This is all fake, right? You coward, stop right there! Explain yourself!"
Even though the manager admitted it, Derek still couldn't believe it and wanted to chase after Grant to get some answers.
However, as soon as he reached the door, a hand grabbed his shoulder and he turned around to see the manager looking at him sternly, with a burly man behind him holding him down with fingers as strong as steel.
"Why are you holding me like this?" Derek felt uneasy.
"Who was the one who wanted to spit out what they ate just now?"
The manager asked seriously.
"Who do you think you are? How dare you point fingers at me?" Derek was furious. Even though the manager was the manager of this restaurant, in his eyes, he was just a worker. Moreover, he had already paid, so he had no right to lay a hand on him.
"Let go of me, let go!"
"A man's word is his bond."
"But Mr. Morgan doesn't want to do this kind of dirty work, so we'll do it for him!"
The manager said coldly. Grant's mysterious identity and background were worth his effort to get on his good side. On the other hand, he had never liked Derek and couldn't let him go so easily.
"Black Dog, come on."
"You dare--" Derek's face changed. Bang!
The burly man punched him hard in the stomach. Derek immediately curled up like a shrimp. His strength was too great for an ordinary person to bear. He opened his mouth and vomited everything out with a "puh" sound.
A foul smell immediately filled the private room.
Grant turned around at the door, a faint cold smile on his lips.
The attentive manager caught this scene and immediately became excited. "He hasn't finished vomiting yet. Black Dog, do it again!"
Bang!
Bang!
Two punches landed, and Derek fell to his knees, vomiting all over himself.
"Daisy, don't look." Grant covered Daisy's nose.
"Mom, you take a taxi back. I have something to talk to Grant about."
The two walked out of the private room. By now, the sky outside had turned completely dark, and neon lights of various colors lit up, making the entire Jiangnan area a sleepless city.
Sitting on a stone bench, Daisy suddenly turned around and asked, "Grant, how did you get so much money in your bank account? And how did you know that this restaurant has this special caviar? Have you been here before?"
One question after another, Daisy's mind was filled with countless questions.
Originally, Daisy thought Grant was a useless freeloader who only knew how to live off of others. But suddenly, he effortlessly paid a bill worth millions and showed off his skills, as if he had a huge mystery surrounding him. Daisy had too many questions to ask.
"I said it was from the lottery. Do you believe me?"
"What do you think?" Daisy smiled, her mischievous eyes sizing up Grant under the streetlight, as if she could read his mind.
"Okay, I'll tell you the truth." Grant gave in. He didn't want to reveal his relationship with the Morgan Family to Daisy yet, so he came up with an excuse. "The hotel owner is actually my friend. I didn't pay anything, and the 13 million was just something I asked the owner to say."
"I see." Daisy suddenly realized, "So everything, including the hotel owner's attack, was all planned by you?"
"Well, I only did it because I saw the hotel owner. If Derek didn't provoke me, I wouldn't have bothered."
Grant nodded, admitting to it.
"Derek is really annoying," Daisy agreed.
During dinner that night, Derek's naked gaze lingered on her, and if it weren't for the presence of others, Daisy would have exploded.
Ding ding ding—
While chatting, Daisy's phone suddenly rang. When she saw the message on her phone, the redness on her face was replaced by a cold expression.
"What's wrong?" Grant noticed something was off.
"Jackson is too much. Do you know what he did?" Daisy replied.
Grant shook his head. He hadn't seen Daisy's phone, so he had no idea.
"He poached three of my advisors! Even Hunter, who I carefully trained, was poached by Jackson. When I confronted him, he even taunted me, saying that if my company was doing well, how could my advisors be poached!"
"Now, more than half of my staff have left, and the most important contract is gone. Jackson is clearly pushing me towards a dead end! He wants my company to go bankrupt!"
Daisy poured out all her grievances, feeling like the road ahead was dark and she didn't know what to do.
"So, what you're saying is, if you can get this contract back from Jackson, all your company's problems will be solved?" Grant asked.
"That's what I'm saying, but how is that possible? Grandpa is clearly biased towards Jackson, and Jackson keeps poaching my staff. My company is losing money every month, and it's getting harder and harder to keep going."
"If I told you that I could really help you get this contract back," Grant said with a smile, seeming completely unconcerned about the matter.
Daisy was a little dazed. "Get the contract back? Grant, are you daydreaming?"
It wasn't that Daisy looked down on Grant, but what he said was just too unbelievable.
"Of course," Grant nodded. "Tomorrow morning, you and I will go to Visionary Company together."
