"Where is the Tesseract?" Xu Fu asked coldly, placing one foot squarely on Loki's chest.
Loki stretched out his hand, trying to push Xu Fu away. But no matter how hard he struggled, Xu Fu's leg did not budge in the slightest.
"I don't know! I don't have the Tesseract! If you don't believe me, search me yourself!"
"Don't play games with me."
Xu Fu exerted just a little force.
A deep rumble echoed from beneath them. The ground suddenly cracked.
Loki's body lurched forward as if an entire planet were pressing down on him. His face flushed red like a boiled crab, his throat producing only broken, hoarse sounds.
"I really don't have it! I already gave the Tesseract to Dr. Erik Selvig. He transferred it somewhere else today. Even if you kill me, you won't get it!"
Indeed, according to the original storyline, Dr. Selvig would have delivered the portal-opening device to the rooftop of Stark Tower this afternoon, where it would be used to open a stable gateway for the Chitauri army to invade Earth.
To locate the Tesseract, Xu Fu had only two options: either take to the skies and scan New York—and every major city—inch by inch with his divine perception, or wait directly on the roof of Stark Tower.
Of course, he also had to account for the possibility that the timeline had already changed due to the butterfly effect caused by his presence.
Finding something without reliable teammates was truly exhausting.
Xu Fu sighed inwardly.
A sudden round of applause sounded behind him.
A golden-red figure descended from the sky—it was Thor, God of Thunder. He flung Iron Man aside and landed heavily on the ground.
With a loud bang, Mjolnir struck the earth.
Thor's gaze first fell on Loki, then slowly shifted to Xu Fu, burning with anger.
In a deep voice, he roared, "Take your foot off him!"
Nearby, Iron Man staggered upright. His armor was badly damaged, sparks flickering intermittently. Tony Stark removed his helmet, gasping for breath.
"Don't let him go, kid. I'm on your side. Just give me a second to catch my breath… then I'll help you teach this cape-wearing guy a lesson…"
Xu Fu looked barely twenty years old. To the ever-sarcastic Tony Stark, that made him a "kid" by default.
Xu Fu shot Iron Man a blank look. He clearly knew he couldn't beat Thor, yet stubbornly refused to admit it.
"Alright, damn big bullet," Xu Fu said flatly. "I really am on your side. But this Hammer God looks like he wants to smash me first."
Thor had always been deeply attached to his brother. No matter how many times Loki betrayed him, Thor tolerated and forgave him unconditionally. Seeing Xu Fu openly suppressing Loki enraged him.
And now, Xu Fu had even mocked him as the "Hammer God."
That single phrase detonated Thor's fury.
Even Iron Man couldn't help nodding. "Ha! Hammer God—perfect summary. This guy really does love that hammer… uh, wait, what did you just call me? Stark? Big bullet of bullshit?"
Before Tony could finish, Thor had already swung Mjolnir.
Leaping forward in rage, he brought the hammer down on Xu Fu.
Xu Fu's expression remained calm, but inwardly he stayed alert. He raised one arm to block.
BOOM!
Mjolnir slammed into Xu Fu's arm. The sound was like two massive alloys colliding.
A violent shockwave of lightning exploded outward.
Under its force, the entire mountain shook violently. Captain America—who had only just climbed halfway up—lost his grip and tumbled downward once again.
None of the combatants at the peak noticed.
Xu Fu was blasted backward dozens of meters, smashing through a massive boulder.
"Thor, Hammer God," Xu Fu said seriously, brushing dust from his arm. "This hammer of yours really isn't simple."
Thor had unleashed his peak purple-tier heroic power in that strike—but this still wasn't his strongest state.
Once he truly awakened and wielded Stormbreaker, his power would undoubtedly reach the pinnacle of the Golden Legend tier—or even beyond.
Taking advantage of the moment, Loki broke free and fled.
Xu Fu didn't stop him. With the Mind Stone in hand, Loki would inevitably accelerate the opening of the portal.
And once the portal opened, Xu Fu would naturally learn the location of the Tesseract.
Seeing Xu Fu withstand Mjolnir with a single arm, Thor frowned.
He was reckless—but not foolish. Thor clearly recognized Xu Fu's strength.
But so what?
To a god who worshipped glory, what could be more exhilarating than defeating a powerful opponent?
Rumble! Rumble!
Thor stomped the ground and charged forward.
Xu Fu saw the intense fighting spirit burning in Thor's eyes.
If he wanted to fight, then Xu Fu would defeat him—so thoroughly that he'd be forced to call him father.
In the next instant, Thor lunged again.
Mjolnir was raised high as lightning descended from the heavens. Terrifying divine power gathered in an instant.
The hammer fell—and heaven and earth changed color.
This time, Xu Fu's expression finally grew serious.
Instead of dodging, he stood still, as if surrendering himself to the blow.
Watching from behind, Iron Man frowned. He didn't understand Xu Fu's intentions. All he knew—from Coulson—was that Xu Fu was a mysterious figure who had appeared only yesterday, seemingly from another universe.
"What exactly is this otherworldly kid capable of?" Tony muttered, powering up his thrusters, ready to intervene at any moment.
The instant Mjolnir descended, Xu Fu reached out and grabbed it.
Relying on pure physical strength alone, he would never be able to block such a thunder-summoning strike.
But—
Thor possessed divine power.
And so did Xu Fu.
Crack! Boom!
Lightning erupted around Xu Fu's right hand.
At the moment of collision, an incomparably brilliant light burst forth atop the mountain, dazzling beyond measure.
Under its influence, the entire mountaintop was flattened, countless stones cascading down like a landslide.
Captain America—who had just climbed back up halfway—watched the rocks crash down and nearly lost his soul.
Only then did he realize he hadn't been dreaming.
And the battle between Xu Fu and Thor had only just begun.
With Thor's hammer blocked, Xu Fu extended his other arm. Lightning condensed into a spear of divine electricity, which he drove straight into Thor's chest.
Xu Fu's ability to wield lightning clearly shocked Thor.
He hurriedly tried to defend, hesitated for half a step—and was struck squarely in the chest.
Thor let out a muffled grunt and was sent flying backward.
It had to be said—Thor, the God of Thunder, possessed terrifying resistance to lightning-based attacks.
Even so, the divine lightning spear only knocked him aside rather than causing serious injury.
"Thor," Iron Man shouted as he hovered in midair, flames blasting from his palms, "Loki isn't your real brother—this guy is!"
Thor ignored him.
His eyes locked onto Mjolnir, which had fallen at Xu Fu's feet.
He reached out, ready to summon it back.
But Xu Fu bent down first and picked up the hammer.
At that moment, Thor couldn't help but sneer.
"Since you don't know your limits," he said coldly, "you won't be able to lift my hammer."
