Chapter 1 - 1. The Voices:

"So how do you feel about it?" someone asked, quickly pulling her out of her world, as she turned she saw a very small little women standing by her side, her height was too small that she only came up half her shoulder.

For a moment, Lyra stood silent, "I suffer from dwarfism if you are wondering." the women again spoke, humbling Lyra.

"Oh no, I was just thinking about something else." she mumbled, trying to hide her embarrased face. "Well that I can see, you are lost somewhere."

There was a weird tone in her words now, making her more uncomfortable than before.

"I would like to be excused miss." she gently said and was about to move away when, the lady spat some words from the back.

"It has made choice and time has come, be prepared." her words made her stop in her track, she slowly turned to the lady, her big wrinkly face had a grin, that made her boil from inside, which was unusal.

"they don't do luckydraws here." she replied instantly trying to hold her anger but the lady sneered, "oh this is more than some luckydraw my child, you have been chosen for something way more different something you would have never seen or felt before."

Lyra stood confused and now she was even more furious, as the nonesense of the lady was starting to annoy her.

"You need to get off my back miss." she spoke angrily and walked off leaving the lady behind, the women kept staring at her with a smile and it was not a normal smile there was something hidden behind it, something dangerous, as if a threat.

Lyra was now at the cashier waiting for her sister, she still was confused about those words, still uncomfortable. She was relieved that she didn't follow her but the stupid words were not leaving her mind, causing her a headache.

"Hey, this is all thankyou." her sister said standing beside her then turned to Lyra, "So did you find something?" Gwen looked pretty pleased as she had a lot on the counter which was now getting packed.

"Well not really and this place is super weird like I am never coming here again." Lyra didn't try hiding her discomfort as she was pretty irritated by now.

"Why what happened?" her sister asked concerned. "I'll tell later, right now get out of here I can't stand being here anymore."

Lyra was super close with her sister and she ended up venting all her emotions about that women to her stating every single detsil, dhe spared nothing like how weird her tone was and her appearence everything. Gwen looked at her all creeped out,

"Dude choosen for what? Soul Hunting like what did she even mean?" Gwen joked, "I was apalled by her words like it felt as if she was there with a decree, choosing as the saviour or whatever."

She rolled her eyes and took a sip of her coffee, "Big Sis you are just way too sweet, you could have sent her away with a snap you know." Gwen directly pointed at her weakness to which Lyra sighed,

"Anyways I don't want to talk about it, tell what did you get?" once gwen started to talk Lyra was again lost in her world, first it was the noises and then the lady, her weird confession everything was making her feel suspicious. For her all of this was crap all nonsense but the way things connected together ended up making situation ominous.

They were almost home when Gwen suddenly stopped talking, she squealed and rushed towards her main door,

"Omg it's finally here." She was jumping up and down with excitment, "Man I can't tell you beautiful it is." gwen spoke in admiration though the thing was covered with paper and bubble wrap.

"What's in it?" Lyra asked.

"The Mirror sis, I can't tell how excited I am to put it in my room and also it was super cheap!" her eyes were was sparkling, "Okay lets get it inside before something happens." Lyra suggested and Gwen quickly nodded.

After a whole minute of hard work the mirror was inside, it was indeed heavy. both were exhausted and after putting it against the way, they sprawled on the sofa.

"Oh my arms, they hurt." Gwen moaned, lyra on the other hand took a deep breath and started massaging her arms, "is this better?" she asked but Gwen pulled her arms away.

"No you are also tired sisy, you don't need to do this." she felt ashamed.

"stay silent you potato, I'm your sister if you are hurt how can I rest?" she again pulled her arm and massaged for a while.

"Leave this I'm hungry want noodles?" Gwen suggested.

"You bet." she grinned and Gwen jumped up, "imma make our favs you go and change." she marched awa to the kitchen while Lyra went to change.

She was in the washroom, washing her makeup off when suddenly she felt dizzy and lept towards the basin. A strong pain kicked inside her, she felt her insides twisting,

"The curse is on you,

the souls belong to shadows.

soon darkness will fall and you all will be there;

where you belong."

Lyra felt her airway narrowing, she gasped for air and then fell backwards, collapsing on the floor.

A shrick left her mouth as the pain inside her increased, "help" words barely came out of her mouth, she completely lost her body and laid lifeless on the floor as she felt her soul being pulled out of her.

Something was strangling her as she gasped for air, her eyes rolled and she compleltely lost conscious.

She was now in the dark, there was no light, nothing. Red strings were tied to her wrist in panic she started to removed them but there was no way to get those off. She felt the area burning and the strings getting tighter, retaliation made then more firm so she stopped pulling.

A color of terror was on her face, she cried for help but her own voice was muffled suddenly soft whispers started to echo, she wasn't in the hourse.

It was all dark with no light.

You are here where you belong.

Your soul isn't yours

It belongs to the shadows

You have been chosen

Serve the shadows....

Or face the concequences.

Her breathed became heavy, thoe whispers were making her soul trembling, immediately she covered her ears and screamed, "STOP make it STOP, ah, I don't belong here."

"Lyra, are you okay? Lyra" she was crying when she heard a soft sound, the bright light started to shine from the end, it was coming towards her, Lyra closed her eyes as the light was blinding,

"Gwen..." those were the last words before her mind went blank again, when she opened her eyes she was in her room, she indentified her surroundings and quickly hugged gwen, she felt her warm embrace and felt safe, Gwen had a confused expression but she didn't move, she wanted her sister to be safe.

"Are you okay?" she gently asked, Lyra mumbled a No and buried her face in her lap, both sisters stayed like that for a while, gwen was her solace and she felt calm.

But those voices still echoed in her head,

'When the shadow rules, the soul much decide it's price.'
