Chapter 1 - The devil i loved

"What do you do when you get overwhelmed with anger, wanting to contain it as much as possible but wanting to let it out at the same time? What is the use of it all, is it worth it, does he deserve it? the idea of walking away and leave it all behind, did it all mean nothing to him? Funny how things can easily make a turn before you even have a chance to blink. I can't seem to remember how we got here, how exactly we let it get this bad, "a wise woman" they say, how could I have let my guard down and risked it all? What made me think I could trust him? trying to trace back my steps but I can't seem to get the reason why I did so. The idea of me was always a fantasy to him how possibly did I let him have his way with me, I secretly hate him but can't seem to say it to his face because I can't get myself to look at him, doesn't make me a better person than him however am not going to take it upon myself as a reason he has hurt me so bad. Forgiveness, hmmm what is forgiveness exactly? The idea of acting like all is well with me yet it's not or the satisfaction the other person gets from being forgiven? Surprisingly he expects me to be my normal self again after it all, honestly how can I? the idea of pretense doesn't sit well with me. To me forgiveness is release not reunion just a way to let go of the merciless things I would do to him just to lessen my anger but can I really let them go? He killed my dad how possibly am I supposed to look past that. Actually, anger is a mental prison, no one gets to know what is really going on in your head, the plans you make, later on the many times you tear him into pieces. Apparently, you can do many things inside your brain and before you know you can lose yourself. What am I supposed to do with all this anger? How can I lessen it? Ideally how can it all just disappear? How can I protect the good version of me? How do I lessen the pain? How do I forgive? The idea of letting him go away with everything doesn't seem right. He doesn't deserve forgiveness he deserves torture", she said to the psychiatrist. Her heart was heavy but she didn't know what exactly she had to do with those emotions, she didn't want to lose herself but she wanted him to face the consequences of his actions.

Virginia was a very beautiful woman with long brown hair and beautiful brown eyes, she had heart shaped lips that were very captivating. She was wearing a black dress that fitted perfectly on her hour glass body, but behind the pretty face was anger, vengeance and a lost soul. She had been seeing a psychiatrist for a week but she felt like nothing changed. She wanted everything to work out very fast, her plan for vengeance wasn't working out so well so she tried therapy in order for her to let go but every time she remembered the events that happened, her heart started bleeding all over again. The suffocation surfaced and the physical yet mental pain went through her heart again.

After the session, Virginia left the clinic and sat inside her car resting her hands on the steering wheel and her head on her hands. All she wanted was to make sure that she avenged her father, therapy was just a hiding place for her. She wanted to talk to someone about what was going in her head, she wanted to lessen the tension so that she could think straight. To him she was a punching bag that he vented his anger on. As she was resting in her car, her mind went back to the day she met that man and what he had done to her and her family.

The two had met at a hotel in Greece, she was in the country to work on some project for her schoolwork and she was sleeping at Skys hotel. Virginia was from a meeting that day and she was rushing to her room to rest, when she tried to put her card to open the door it was declined, she went to the reception to notify the service providers about her problem. As she was waiting for the receptionist to work on her issue, a gentleman came at the reception looking at the receptionist he said," excuse me ma'am I made a reservation in the names of Matt Rutherford". "Could you please give me a minute to complete working on this lovely lady here," the receptionist said while she soft pointed at Virginia. Matt nodded his head in agreement and turned to look at Virginia, he had black hair that he had tied half up half down and it went upto his shoulders, a cross tattoo on his neck and beautiful black eyes. He was a bit masculine about 5.9 feet tall wearing black jeans and an army green t-shirt.

"Am really sorry for not noticing you at first, that was so rude of me, you came here first so I had no right to just go directly to the receptionist am really sorry," he said to Virginia. "It is all well my card has failed to open the door so she is just helping me to work on that issue and I will be done in no time," she answered. "Am Matt by the way, nice to meet you," he said. "Am Virginia nice to meet you too," she answered and the two shook hands. The receptionist handed the card to Virginia and apologized for the inconvenience," it is going to work this time" she said while handing her the card. Virginia smiled and went to her room, as she reached out to open the door, she realized that Matt was behind her. "I promise am not following you," he said "it just so happens that am staying next door," he added. He by passed her and went to his door and opened it," you see, am not lying," he said while smiling at her. Virginia smiled back and entered her room.

"You again," Virginia said while looking at Matt. They had met at the cafeteria that morning trying to get breakfast, Matt knocked Virginia and she poured her coffee. "Am so sorry, it seems like am being a villain so far, the two times we've encountered each other I haven't scored any good points with you," Matt said. "How about I buy you dinner to make it up to you, perhaps I could have your number," he added. "That could ease the tension I guess," Virginia replied while putting her number in his phone. They sat down and took their breakfast together. In the evening, they went for dinner and talked about different things laughing, they toured Greece in the night and even entered a club. Virginia got drunk and found her way to the VIP where the bouncer carried her out and both Virginia and Matt were chased out of the club. They laughed at each other and in that moment, Virginia kissed Matt who didn't resist her in return. The two went back to the hotel and while in the lift, Matt bent Virginia over and flipped her skirt, his pecker found its way to her honey pot and the two had a good time. Her sound of moaning echoed through the lift and when it reached the floor they were sleeping on, they went straight to Matt's room and fell asleep immediately.

They kept on going to amusement parks, trying out different restaurants and resorts. Virginia was supposed to spend a month in Greece and then go back to New Orleans where she stayed with her parents and Matt was staying in Paris with his friends. One evening as the two were from a cinema, Matt knelt down on the street and proposed to Virginia, "I know have known you for a very short time but I want you to be the mother of my kids, I want you to be my forever, will you marry me?" he said". "Yes, I will," Virginia answered as she fell into his arms. The passerby cheered on them and the two kissed. Virginia called her parents and informed them about the proposal and her mother was very happy about it however, her father was worried about this flash marriage that her daughter wanted to get in to," I need to meet him first," her father said. "Am sure you are going to love him, but you are going to see him after we finish getting our house here in Greece," she replied. "Am going to move in with him," she added.

In the next days, Matt found an apartment and the two went shopping for home appliances and they officially moved in together. After a month of staying together, Matt met Virginia's parents. They were having dinner and Virginia was really quiet, "princess, could you please come help me pick some wine and wine glasses," her dad said while he stood up and the two went into the kitchen. "What is disturbing you my child, you don't seem happy, the person am seeing right now is not my little girl please talk to me," he said. "Virginia washed her face in the sink and removed all the makeup she had on and she revealed the bruises that were all over her face. Her eyes filled with tears as she hugged her father, "he isn't the man I knew dad, he is a whole different person," Virginia said while crying silently. "Have tried to hold on but I can't do it anymore, it is so hard for me to leave because he isn't an easy man, he just puts on an act to please people but he actually deals with Mafias who are untouchable," she added. Her father was just crying while embracing her. Matt entered the kitchen and found the two embracing, Virginia dad turned and looked at him," stay away from my child," he said angrily and pushed him out. Matt fixed his eyes on Virginia, smiled and said," it's just you and me my love,".

After he left, Virginia's family embraced her and they all went to the master bedroom and slept together, the two girls and their parents. "You girls mean the world to us," Virginia's mother said and she kissed both her daughters. In the morning, their father went to work as usual and he kissed both Virginia and her sister before he left. Later in the evening a package was delivered to Virginia and she took it inside, the note on it said "problem solved, nothing can ever get between us,". Virginia opened the package and found her father's head, she cried loudly and both her sister and mother came, on seeing her husband's head, the mother fainted and she was rushed to the hospital. The police went on with the investigation and when Virginia's mother woke up, she had gotten partial paralysis from shock.

A knock on her side mirror brought her mind back from the nightmare she had been re-living every single day. "You are not supposed to sleep here ma'am," an officer said. Virginia apologized and set off to her home. Dylan kept on calling her and she ignored the calls, a lot was going on in her head and she wasn't sure about how to deal with everything. Earlier that week she had gone shopping with Dylan and Natasha showed up holding a man's hand, she stormed out of the boutique and left Dylan there and after that day she never talked to him again.

The following day, Virginia woke up and found a voicemail from Dylan," I don't know what really happened that day but you just disappeared, you don't pick my calls and when I come to your place you don't even open for me, I don't know what I did wrong but am willing to fix it am willing to work on myself and be a better man for you, am willing to do everything to make things right," he said. "Please talk to me, whatever it is we can do this together, you don't have to do it alone ", he added. "I thought you enjoyed shopping and that place has very nice clothes I didn't know you would instead get upset, I got out of the restroom and you were gone, there was no trace of you alI I found was Natasha and her supposedly new boyfriend, If its Natasha that upset you please don't worry I have nothing to do with her infact she found another man so please don't be mad at me," he concluded.

Virginia listened to the voice note and cried, she really loved Dylan and didn't want to lose him, she had been the happiest for the six months they had known each other. He was the man of her dreams. That afternoon, she went to Dylan's office," do you have a minute?" she asked him, "there are somethings I would want us to talk about," she added. "Thank you for choosing to talk to me, I really want to know what's going I don't want to lose you," he said as he stood up to approach her. They both walked out and went to a nearby café.

"I know have been off lately and things have been tense between us because of me, there are somethings I didn't tell you about because I thought I would deal with them myself without involving you," she said. "But everything has come around and somehow you are in between it all, remember the toxic relationship I was in, he was my fiancée called Matt and he is someone that I hid from back in the days, I even changed my name from Rosette to Virginia,". He used to beat me each time I moved out of the house without his permission, the fury in his eyes displayed his thirst for blood, it's like he had some emptiness in him that only violence could fill," she added. "He killed my father all because he refused to acknowledge him as his son-in law, I had to move my mom and sister to another place for safety, I was weak back then but now am strong and I want him to face my wrath," she said. "The man Natasha walked in with is Matt," she concluded. Matt had showed up with Natasha, it was like Natasha was willing to do everything to get Dylan back, however Virginia didn't know how deep Natasha could go. Virginia was stronger now with money but she didn't expect Matt to show up at that time, she was finally happy and Matt was still trying to take that away from her.
