The duo woke up to a dinging noise.
The weird part though was that it seemed to be coming from inside their heads.
"What's that?" Luck muttered in irritation. Hos memory soon flooded back as he instantly sat up and held out his palm, executing a move that was practised consistently throughout their pre-awakenig school .
A black book suddenly appeared out of thin air over his outstretched palm.
"My soul book?"Luck sai with more excitement than curiosity as he examined the book whose very being was wrapped in a dark aura.
"The awakening worked!"Luke quipped joyously.
Luck smiled smugly "Guess we're early bloomers "
Luke stretched out his hand but nothing seemed to happen.
But Luck knew that was not the case.
Soul books or grimoires were books connected to a person's soul. They essentially recorded an individual's power growth and even sometimes aiding it.
They allowed the owners to see their 'stats' and even help to ensure the maximization of a person's potential through allocation of 'stat points '.
They had various functions but one key feature was its privacy.
It was a well known fact that a person couldn't see another's soul book unless they're given permission to do so.
That essentially explained why it looked to both of them that other was holding nothing.
"Luckily pre awakening school thinks of everything " Luck said as Luke nodded.
"Which includes how to grant permission ".
In seconds, both their grimoires entered the vision of the other.
"Now to check out our classes " Luke said as3he rubbed his palms together in excitement.
"Let's do it at the same time ".
Luke nodded as they both mentally counted to three before their soul books simultaneously flipped open.
With excited looks, they gazed into it.

The excitement left their eyes in a flash as well as all the colour in their face.
They glanced at each other as the only word they could think of flew through their mouths.
"Fuck!"
