Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: Mother and Son Reunite

Even if they are merely beings of flesh, if they have the chance to obtain a law that has not yet birthed spirituality, they can still "level up."

And the leveling up is quick, for their bodies innately carry divinity and can better fuse with a law.

Highlight this: in essence, the gods are not human!

Especially at this stage, almost all gods are embodiments of laws; they are the concrete manifestations of the world's laws.

Their unions are unions of laws, undertaken to build a better world, to make the world more complete, to drive the evolution of the cosmos.

Even without taking the initiative or uniting, laws will, through constant contact, give rise to new laws. This is the natural operating pattern of the universe.

Active union of laws can accelerate the world's evolution—it accelerates that process.

And by acting deliberately, the process is relatively controllable, making it easier to master the birth of a new law.

Laws they actively engender will generally take the initiative to acknowledge them as "parents," but this relationship is entirely different from the mortal sense and differs in essence.

It has nothing to do with bloodline or ethics; it is a recognition and belonging between divinities, between laws.

Just as with Oceanus and Tethys: every aggregation of freshwater in the entire cosmos is their daughter; every river that exists is their son.

Because they are the foundational laws, the source. The universe is so vast that even they do not know how many children they have—that is the infinite extension of life and law.

In such circumstances, when a river passes through a lake and then engenders smaller streams, those streams are both the children of the river and lake, and, by nature, children of Oceanus and Tethys.

This relationship is as it should be; it cannot be said to violate propriety. It has nothing to do with ethics. It is the natural phenomenon by which the world is constituted, the circulation of law.

When all rivers run to the sea, it certainly cannot be said to be intercourse with "parents." It is a natural merging.

In the existence of the cosmos, the water cycle is an indispensable link. They are the world's very composition, the basis of the universe's operation.

Just as the Sky-Father Uranus engendered so many "children" (laws), yet Uranus paid them no particular mind. Laws engender new laws—not a bond of human blood, but an extension of power.

Just as the Sky-Father Uranus could forcibly alter the roots of Light Aether (Aether) and of Day (Hemera),

Forcibly changing their generative root to Hyperion, lord of the heavenly light, the radiance of celestial bodies.

In principle, Aether and Hemera are now Hyperion's "children." This demonstrates transformation and remolding among laws.

Moreover, the gods possess the ability to propagate independently; even without union, they can engender laws or lives.

Just like the Sky-Father Uranus—He is the sky, the firmament; and His "brothers": Pontos, the embodiment of the sea, and Ourea, lord of mountains.

They were begotten independently by the Earth.

There are many forms by which gods can engender simple life; it need not be fleshly contact like mortals. If they will it, even a breath is enough.

Even in engendering a law, the essence is the fusion and derivation among laws.

It is merely that when gods engender laws on their own, the efficiency is too poor, the speed too slow.

And it depends greatly on luck. What kind of law will be engendered is hard to determine; surpassing oneself is difficult; even matching oneself is hard. Most of the time the result is only a further subdivision beneath one's own domain.

In today's suppressed cosmos, this is truly unfavorable, for it cannot yield greater power to guard against the greedy God-King.

Only when different laws intermix and collide can there be a chance for a stronger law to be born.

Even if only for better self-preservation, the mutual union and mutual strengthening of laws is the most correct choice.

When Zeus saw the Mother Goddess Rhea, He flew to greet her at once.

"Mother!" His tone carried deep affection and reverence.

The bright-eyed goddess, her perfect divine face blooming with a radiant smile, said, "Zeus, my child." Her gentle words brimmed with care and longing.

The son of Kronos, arm in arm with the daughter of the Sky-Father, descended together upon Crete.

The demigod Curetes immediately knelt, not daring to gaze directly upon the goddess's holy visage.

The ash-tree nymphs Adrasteia and Ida, and the goat goddess Amalthea, also bowed respectfully to the sacred and majestic Queen.

Queen Rhea commended their labors, and then led Zeus alone into the Ideon Cave.

No sooner had they entered than the compassionate Mother could not help but touch Zeus's valiant face. "My child, you've grown so much."

As she spoke, the multicolored, wondrous hair upon her head rippled with even more resplendent light—revealing her surging inner emotion.

Zeus smiled brightly and softly clasped the Mother's hand. "Mother, all is well with me here. I feel I have fully matured."

For Zeus's safety, over this long enough span of time, the Mother Goddess Rhea had not dared to visit her only child often. That longing had been suppressed for far too long.

The benevolent Queen smiled gently; in the next instant, endless sorrow and anxiety welled up upon her flawless, perfect countenance.

She knew what her child would face upon coming of age. Too many gods had placed their hopes upon Him.

Once this child survived under the protection of many primordial gods, too many burdens were fated to rest upon Him.

And this little island of Crete was far too small. A mere stamp of the foot could sink it into the sea—it could not long harbor the son of the God-King.

Yet as a mother, from the depths of her heart she did not wish her child to undertake a task with nine chances of death for every chance of life.

Zeus needed only to look at Rhea's expression to know what the Mother feared. He smiled slightly and said, "Mother, I am already prepared for everything."

"We have no other choice. This is an unavoidable fate."

"And I have sufficient confidence to face it all."

Though her sorrow could hardly dissipate, Rhea still nodded lightly.

After all, she was a first-generation Titan, the Sky-Father Uranus's "second daughter," and now the Queen of the Gods.

She had once taken part in the overthrow of the first divine sovereign; she had long been mentally prepared for what was to come, and would not weep like a small woman.

The Mother said softly, "The God-King is, after all, the God-King. He is too powerful. It's good that you have confidence, but do not be careless. As of now, you are not your Father's match. You must act with caution."

"My child, do you have a plan?"

Zeus nodded and replied, "Father is too strong, and He is the God-King, with so many great gods aiding Him—he cannot be met head-on. We must find allies."

"Let our friends outnumber Father's friends, and weaken Father's forces. We must also weaken Father's own strength. Only then can we launch the final attack."

"I believe many great gods are already extremely dissatisfied with Father's actions. Those are the ones we should draw to our side."

"Even if some great gods merely stand by and do nothing, that already helps us."
