Chapter 83 - Chapter 83: He Won't Just Deal With Me in Passing, Will He?

In his original calculations, when he came to pledge loyalty, the God King's son would certainly accept him.

This was a good opportunity to display broad magnanimity and mercy, which could make the gods even more convinced.

Besides, he had asked for an introduction too—they were all family!

His mother Clymene was the sister of wisdom goddess Metis, and also the beloved daughter of ocean god Oceanus.

Given wisdom goddess's status with the God King's son, surely the God King's son wouldn't disregard even this much sentiment?

However, after arriving, when his respected aunt Metis went to see the God King's son, she hadn't come out for quite some time.

This really shouldn't be the case.

Wasn't it just a matter of a few words? How could it take so long?

Had he walked into a trap?

No way, right?

The God King's son wouldn't really plan to deal with him in passing, would he?

Even if he didn't accept his loyalty, it wouldn't come to that, right?

The God King's son wouldn't really make the most wrong decision, would he?

Cautious Prometheus's clever brain spun rapidly, various possibilities swirling in his mind. The more he thought, the more nervous he became, his original confidence dissipating considerably.

It wasn't until beautiful and elegant Metis finally appeared before him that, although her expression was impassive, Prometheus keenly detected an irrepressible joy and contentment radiating from her, and his suspended heart finally settled down.

However, he also felt vaguely disappointed in his heart.

If God King's son Zeus really was a vindictive, narrow-minded god who was hostile toward him or even truly wanted to harm him, that might not be a bad thing either.

If the God King's son really did that, then the outcome of this war might not be so certain after all.

But now it seemed the God King's son had, just as he predicted, made the most correct and advantageous decision.

He just didn't know whether the God King's son had seen through his calculations.

Thinking of this, Prometheus felt somewhat uneasy.

If Zeus had already seen through his thoughts yet still chose to accept him—

Then what sharp perception this God King's son would have, and what terrifying depths!

Though accepting him was the most correct and advantageous decision, if he had seen through his thoughts, then his actions were the greatest humiliation and calculation against Zeus.

The taste of being fooled and calculated against was not pleasant.

Especially when the opponent was the God King's son, even very likely the future God King—a powerful deity who already had the full support of many great gods.

He clearly already possessed the power to act willfully, yet could still perfectly control his emotions and preferences. Such a God King with deep thoughts and far-reaching schemes was undoubtedly an incomparably terrifying existence.

If that were truly the case, then he must behave even more loyally and humbly to make up for that little "calculation" in his heart.

He must do everything possible to eliminate the misgivings and barriers in Zeus's heart, otherwise his future days at Olympus would probably not be easy.

Now Prometheus truly felt some small regret—he shouldn't have thought to calculate against Zeus!

When Prometheus stepped into that magnificent temple and his gaze touched Zeus, who sat high on the divine throne radiating endless majesty, his already somewhat uneasy heart immediately gained three more parts of reverence.

This was his first time gazing so closely at this supreme God King destined to rule over everything in the universe.

High above, Zeus now sat upright on the divine seat, his face calm, revealing no expression, like a magnificent statue carved from the purest marble—handsome features filled with inviolable majesty.

Beside him, Goddess Metis stood gracefully upright, equally expressionless, her eyes profound, radiating wisdom and dignity around her like a silent sculpture guarding the God King's will.

Prometheus secretly took a deep breath and respectfully bowed in salute, his voice steady: "Respected son of the God Queen, illustrious Zeus—Prometheus, son of Iapetus, offers you the most sublime respect."

After several long, silent breaths, a majestic and profound voice finally came from above the hall, carrying undeniable penetrating power: "Son of Iapetus, god of foresight—perhaps I should call you the god of cunning instead."

"Son of Iapetus, do you think your insignificant cunning thoughts can deceive me, with wisdom standing beside me?"

"I wonder if your father god who controls death's weaving would also weave death for his own child?"

Prometheus's heart sank with a thud.

Zeus's reaction was completely different from all his expectations!

His clever brain began racing rapidly, thinking of countermeasures in an instant.

He slowly spoke, his voice carrying seemingly sincere and perfectly appropriate respectfulness: "Respected Zeus, I don't know why you would speak thus, but I, Prometheus, have absolutely no disrespectful thoughts toward you!"

"Wisdom goddess Metis stands solemnly beside you—who in the universe would dare display petty cleverness before you?"

"All thoughts cannot escape the peerlessly wise Goddess Metis, much less you, that sagacious God King who perceives everything."

A slight laugh, like a gentle breeze, brushed past Prometheus's ears, yet he only felt immense pressure.

Then Zeus's majestic voice sounded again: "I respect every deity's honor. I will lead the gods to build a better world and fairly distribute to them the honor they deserve."

"But my tolerance and mercy will never be granted to those deities who intend to fool or humiliate me."

"Son of Iapetus, one deity should not fool or humiliate another deity who respects him—isn't that right?"

Zeus's voice was very calm, but Prometheus felt his throat dry. He struggled to maintain composure, saying in a slightly hoarse voice: "Tolerant Zeus, your magnanimity makes every deity deeply admirable."

"What you say is the most sincere, most indisputable truth—any deity should return respect to deities who respect them."

"Please, wise one, observe clearly—I, Prometheus, have absolutely not the slightest disrespectful thought toward you!" His posture became increasingly humble.

"Your benevolence is known to all gods, your mercy unknown to none. Your power holds up heaven and earth, your wisdom perceives the universe. I, Prometheus, only wish to serve loyally under your command, at your disposal."

Zeus slowly smiled: "Prometheus, as long as one is willing to follow the order I establish, then no matter who it is, Olympus will open its doors wide to welcome their arrival."

"I, Zeus, will never unreasonably blame any god because their relatives or friends made wrong choices."

"Every deity need only be responsible for what they themselves do."

"And bear the appropriate consequences."
