Living for a future you don't know, fighting for dreams you may never achieve."
Haytaka: "Life is a paradox: everyone wants to escape death, but few want to truly live. Everyone seeks a way to live forever, but no one wants to enjoy life for what it is.
I don't even know anymore if I'm really living… or just waiting for it all to end."
Haytaka: "People say life is a gift, but if it really were… why is it so exhausting? Maybe living just means carrying the weight, day after day, until you find something worth bearing it for."
The sky over Montréal is heavy and gray, rain pouring down relentlessly.
Haytaka is walking calmly through the streets of Montréal, lost in his thoughts and doubts about life. As he walks, hunger starts to gnaw at him.
Haytaka: "Damn… I haven't eaten anything today…"
Haytaka: "And I didn't even bring any money… damn it…"
As he walks, he notices a small fast-food place nearby.
Haytaka: "Perfect, the burgers here cost only ten dollars…"
Haytaka: "But… I don't feel like walking all the way home to get money…"
He notices a guy ahead of him who has just ordered a burger with fries.
Haytaka: "Perfect."
Haytaka walks up to the guy.
Haytaka: "Hey you… yeah, I'm talking to you."
Guy: "Wh… what is it?"
Haytaka: "Look… I don't want to drag this out, so let's get straight to the point."
Haytaka: "Hand over that burger and those fries."
Guy: "Forget it… they're mine."
Haytaka: "I know… but I'm starving. I forgot my money…"
Haytaka: "So I'd really appreciate it if you could give me that delicious burger."
Guy: "No… I paid for it with my own money… please… don't hurt me."
Haytaka: "So you won't give it to me, huh…"
Haytaka: "Fine then… but remember, I warned you."
Haytaka punches the guy in the face, knocking him down and grabbing the tray.
Haytaka: "See? That wasn't so hard."
But he doesn't stop at just one punch…
Haytaka: "Sorry, but I'm in a really bad mood today… so I need someone to beat up."
Guy: "No… please, don't…"
Haytaka begins to pound on the poor guy—one punch, two, three, four, five, six—relentless, not stopping for a second. Meanwhile, people around them pretend nothing is happening, like it's all normal. No one looks, everyone minds their own business.
Haytaka continues until the guy is completely beaten, lying in a pool of blood.
Haytaka: "If you had just given me that burger, you could have spared yourself a world of pain."
Finally, Haytaka is ready to enjoy "his" burger.
Haytaka: "Finally… bon appétit."
But just as he's about to take his first bite, a voice is heard in the distance.
Thug: "HEY, WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU'RE GOING? GET BACK HERE, BITCH!"
A girl is running desperately, being chased by a group of guys.
Girl: "Shit… damn it… SOMEONE HELP ME, PLEASE, HELP ME DAMN IT!"
No one answers her cries for help. Everyone pretends not to notice… including Haytaka.
Haytaka: "What's with all this racket… those idiots again? DAMN IT, JUST LET ME ENJOY MY BURGER IN PEACE!"
The girl keeps running, lungs burning, but she grits her teeth and pushes harder.
Girl (panting): "You… you won't catch me…"
Just as Haytaka is about to take his first bite, the girl runs past him, followed by the thugs. One of them shoves him hard, knocking the tray out of his hands, sending the burger and fries to the ground.
Thug: "OUT OF THE WAY, IDIOT!"
Then they run off.
Haytaka says nothing. He just stares at the burger on the ground.
Haytaka: "My burger… my delicious burger…"
Haytaka: "Right when I was about to enjoy every single bite…"
Haytaka: "Bastards… where are the pieces of shit who did this to my poor burger…"
Haytaka: "YOU FUCKING BASTARDS… YOU'LL PAY FOR THIS!!!"
Fueled with rage, Haytaka begins chasing after them.
Meanwhile, the thugs are still chasing the poor girl through the streets of Montréal.
Thug: "COME ON BOYS, SHE CAN'T RUN FOREVER!"
Thug 2: "YEAH… SHE'S GETTING TIRED, WE'VE GOT HER NOW!"
Girl: "PLEASE HELP ME, PLEASE!"
As she runs, she spots an alley that seems to lead to a busy street, so she darts into it.
Girl: "Finally… I'm safe—"
But unfortunately, it only leads to the back of a restaurant.
Girl: "No… no… please tell me this is a joke…"
She tries to turn back, but it's too late—the thugs have already caught up and surrounded her.
Thug: "Well, well, well… looks like we finally caught you, bitch."
Girl: "Fuck you, you filthy perverts."
Thug 2: "Come on now… don't say that. We just want to have a little fun, that's all."
Thug 3: "Exactly… actually, you should feel lucky we chose you. A pretty girl like you…"
Girl: "Go to hell… I'd rather die than be with scum like you."
Thug: "You've got a big mouth, you know… but we know how to deal with girls like you."
Two of them grab her, but she fights back, punching one in the nose. Another grabs her arm—she headbutts him. But another thug slams her against the wall, while yet another grabs her legs. The one she punched in the nose recovers.
Thug: "Come on now… be a good girl… we just want to have some fun together…"
But just as the three are about to attack her—
Haytaka: "HEY, YOU PIECES OF SHIT!"
The three turn around.
Haytaka: "Yeah, I'm talking to you assholes…"
Thug: "Eh… and who the fuck are you?"
Haytaka: "Listen, you dumbasses… because of you, I couldn't enjoy the delicious burger I worked so hard to get."
Haytaka: "Now I need money to buy another one… and I think you idiots are gonna give me that money."
Thug: "Listen, pal… get lost right now unless you want us to mess you up."
Haytaka: "No, buddy… I'm the one who's gonna teach you a lesson you won't forget."
Haytaka: "Oh, and of course… I'll be taking your money too, you fucking morons."
