Chapter 5 - 5 Toward the new beginning (2)

As she was standing up to leave, the Instructor walked towards her.

"Are you Azalea Bergen?"

This was not looking good, special attention was never a good sign. 'Please don't let any rumors form!'

In a quiet muffled voice she stated "Yes...what do you need?"

She could feel the stares and glanced towards her, it was only the first day.

"Your councilor asked me to pass this on to you, it is your new schedule."

After handing her the manilla envelope the Instructor left the classroom.

Her classes were still the same, however there were more time slots added between classes. Her next class was not for another couple hours, and instead she would be cleaning the library. After that she would have a class back to back, an empty slot for what she thought to be a lunch break, cleaning another couple classes, cleaning, and a class. Her day wouldn't end until late in the afternoon, if she went to get a job now she would have to sacrifice sleep and work part-time during the night.

She sighed thinking about her future, it was going to be rough. This was even if they would hire her, yes it was dangerous but she needed the money. Who knows depending on what she could get as a job, she could stop working for the school. The school offered these opportunities to the poor students who needed money, if she could get a different job…Working for the school made her feel weird thinking about how her classmates would treat her. It would be better for her to stick to herself, and not make friends.

In the meantime, her first assignment would be easy as she would have to go to the library to help clean.

Navigating to the library was easy, both due to the fact the Instructor had told them and the signs on the walls pointing out directions.

The library was slightly busy, with students meandering about the shelves in search of books. The unsuccessful ones would eventually give up and go in search of the librarians to get the books for them.

Azalea walked up to the counter holding her schedule in one hand and in a nervous tone, " I'm here for my library duties."

A short woman who used a stool to reach the counter turned to face her so fast, "I was expecting you. You are the volunteer from the financial support counselor, correct?"

'Great, just announce it to the whole world will you.'

"Yes, I am the volunteer."

"Great, I needed somebody to return all of these back to the shelves and to clean up the second floor."

Azalea hadn't at first realized how big the library was, but after hearing of a second floor she came to the realization that it was massive.

"Certain sections of the library are for the different courses, and the second floor is for the students who are hunters. As you will be working here, I have a pass already made for you to swipe at the door for entry."

She was motioned to a door by the counter next to the entrance, and handed her a badge that had her school photo on it with a clip. Azalea clipped the badge to the hem of her shirt.

The stacks of books that she needed to return were behind the counter, and were separated by genre.

"If you need help finding where they go, don't be a stranger and come look for me."

Azalea grabbed a small stack, looked at the labels on the books and wandered around till she found the correct spot.

Over the course of an hour she returned the rest of the piles to their proper places on the shelves.

The next thing she needed to do was clean the second floor. As she walked up the stairs, she noticed that there were not a lot of hunters at this school, if any. There was dust everywhere and what looked to be cobwebs on the ceiling. From all of her personal experiences, nothing could compare to how haunted the place appeared.

She spent the next 45 minutes making the area habitable. It was clean, but it was definitely cleaner with no more cobwebs. She had dust everywhere and clumps were in her hair. It was a good idea that she had covered her face with hand before cleaning, tomorrow she would need to bring a mask.

She glanced at her phone to see the time, she still had some time to do her homework for Instructor Retch.

Going back down to the first floor she walked over to the area with art textbooks and snapped a picture of them with her.

Azalea went to the front desk to let the librarian know that she was done.

"Mrs. Librarian, I am done with my work."

"Done already Dear, make sure to turn in your badge under the desk. Also, you can call me Mrs. D, you don't have to call me Mrs. Librarian."

"Ah, yes Mrs. D, see you tomorrow."

Azalea bowed briefly and left dusting off herself for her next class.

She pulled out a map and headed over to the art department, her first real class of the day is Art history.

The class was on the opposite side of the building, and she had run into so many people trying to make it in time. Tomorrow she would need to leave the library earlier.

She stepped foot into the classroom and the Instructor walked in right at the same time.

"I would hurry up and take a seat. Class is starting soon," he said in a knowing voice.
